how is Popeye doing? And be careful up that ladder.

Popeye is doing very well now. The ‘dementia‘ tablets make a huge difference to the quality of his life. Since the feral cat attacked him some months ago and him being so ill with the abscesses he did lose some weight. But as you can probably tell from my posts he is waking me up in the middle of the night for food, and he has gained back the weight which is good. He was always a lean cat, and he didn’t need to be any leaner!

He is clean, uses the cat tray despite the dementia (I thought that might be the first thing to go), no accidents at all. He knows what he wants, when he wants and I respond immediately when he asks me (by a paw on my arm, a look, or he leads me to the study door when he wants to go into the sunny potting shed for the afternoon, for food he wakes me in the night or in daytime sits by his dish and looks at me).

He appears to have a good quality of life despite the dementia, and if he wants a walk in the sun in the garden, he sits by his harness and lead, and I put it on, and take him out and he sniffs the plants and eats the grass and drinks the rainwater. And takes me round the garden path clockwise for two or three times. It is like taking a dog for a walk, only a cat stops and sniffs more...

It did take time and awhile getting into these routines for both of us. So not listening to the vet who wanted to put him down because of dementia was more than worth it. And finding these tablets to help cats with dementia, although costly, again is more than worth it. And he is very good now with me shoving half a tablet morning and evening down his throat. He doesn’t bite my finger through to the bone any more!

I will be careful with ladders, thank you. I do take my time...

You have a brilliant day @SlimLizzy[/user]

good morning everyone from a late start in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of chicken and chorizo pan thing with tomatoes came in at 4.9 this am

I have been using my preventer of late, first time this year, wonder what that is all about. I usually just have one dose from my Relvar first thing in the morning.
On the positive side, my dad is now out of ICU and there are murmurations regarding going home.
I was hoping to get out on my bike today but it’s far too blustery to enjoy. So, a couple of turns round the park or a walk along the beach.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, best get myself a koffy.

Wonderful art and news about your dad. Chicken and chorizo sounds interesting, the clincher is tomatoes. Sorry to hear about needing the preventer. I absolutely insist you take jolly good care of your Dumelmness.

I love the imaginative painting...pulling me in...to new places @dunelm

Good news about your dad.

I am taking my bricanyl at the mo in addition to my preventative inhaler. I think it is the change of seasons. Maybe the same for you?

Have a good day
:)

football, both the game and the culture.
@dunelm Good news about your father.

@gennepher thanks for the catchup re Popeye.

It seems we are all having an off start to the day today. You already know about my granola not turning out as it should.

Cat does not approve of the new, different food i bought yesterday. He hasn't finished his breakfast but is begging for more..

MrSlim is uncharacteristically grumpy this morning. It seems the electrician managed to repair and fit the broken back half of the switch, but did not fix on the front piece, which is nowhere to be found. After multiple trips up and down stairs including into the loft. he has discovered that all other available switches are either a different size or colour.

It's cold too. We have a slight problem with the heating system as well.

Here is a pic of the fuschia mentioned earlier as well.

Hug for the electrical issue. Today must be the day I'm taught some lessons. Virtual Harvest Festival was all about the concept of place:bigtears: Now your fuschia. I don't like, at least didn't think I did,flowers/shrubs. That one is just like ones my parents planted in our last house. Now, Carly Simon like, I find I miss them more than I ever knew - I obviously need to be taught some truths I don't wish to acknowledge. Must be good for my soul. Just waiting to find I miss warm food and meat:arghh::arghh::arghh:
2nd link has lyrics.

we too had strong winds causing some problems, hope all is well now, both weather wise and otherwise and that you manage to get some rest today. It is Sunday after all.
Not quite as windy today, but really cold.
Very busy Sunday. Got lots done. It is great having my office in the house - the downside is that it is just so tempting to carry on working when perhaps the more sensible thing to do would be to relax.

It is so good to hear that he has such a good quality of life and such a caring owner

Thanks. Red peppers are a good substitute for tomatoes, parmesan and spinach works.
I am taking your advice and have just opened a jolly nice bottle of something while I make some fibreflour bread stuffed with herbs, cheese, chorizo and a dab of tomato puree.

Thank you. It may well be the changing of the seasons. Always a real bummer when the preventer comes out.

Very blustery here but did get 6 miles up and down the beach. Very few people about. I have a roll of drawing paper that we got from Ikea for the grandchildren to draw, paint and crayon on. I am using it for daily doodles and sploshing with ink.

Hi, we went out this pm for ride because it is such a beautiful day.
The Lakes were absolutely mobbed with cars and people not knowing how to drive on narrow roads!
Borrowdale was particularly bad with parking in passing places, narrow sections and double yellows. There was no chance of using my free N.T. car parking in the Kettlewell or Great Wood car parks?
Visitors must be using the Lakes in preference to going abroad.
There is more peace in our garden but it was 8 deg C this pm at home but 12 at Portinscale where visitors were in tee shirts sitting outside the pub eating.
