What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Wow. So sorry to hear about that and hope you are ok today and perhaps able to take things easy for a while - probably not in your DNA. Great thoughtfulness of you guys to check via breathalyser.
Taking it easy is definitely not in my DNA but I am being sensible and have cancelled classes today and tomorrow. The excellent NHS leaflet I came home with states 'Don't push yourself to get better. If you do you will fail and make your recovery take longer'. They must have written it with me in mind.

Have slept on and off most of today. Ice packs have been really helpful.

WHOA.. major hugs required

Hope you truly feel better asap
Dreadful how a moment can derail life

Also a big up to the hospital's
Personally after many years with mum n dad at A&E, I'd prosecute every low life causing disruption at hospitals
And send them the bill.!

Loving the take from both of you .
Sometimes I thinks it's the humour that's almost as important as the meds.

All Those oh so horrid "What if's" can really plague us otherwise

Take it easy
Get better soon x
You are right - it is dreadful how a moment can derail life. Humour definitely stops the 'what ifs' from taking over.

Yes, I totally agree that anyone causing disruption in A&E should be prosecuted and sent the bill. The staff were so calm but they must have been relieved when the police arrived.

good evening all :)

4.6 today

Mum's hair looks very curly after her perm, not quite as curly as Katy's but .. :D it has been a while since it was curly ;)
mr gee is also quite cheery now he's had a hair trim :)

Mum got a phone call today to offer an appointment for her second jab on Thursday so things move on :)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@Krystyna23040 - so glad you're still relatively in one piece and I hope it will heal quickly :)

@dunelm - nice use of your spare bits of paper, hail storm or meteor shower :D

@gennepher - I like today's fantasy work, it's got a nice zing of a colour palette :joyful:

art bit - I have started using bigger pieces of paper sometimes instead of cutting it in half all the time but I have had some problems with the latest few sheets of my original paper where the coating has flaws you can't see until you paint on it :(
yesterday I tried some different paper by Fabriano and it holds the water and colour quite differently, I think I'll like it ;)
Both of those things will be in the next batch of scans though.

another sketch, a old terracotta pot in mum's garden, I deliberately left it quite a light sketch because I'm thinking of printing it onto watercolour paper and making it into a coloured pencil study or a watercolour painting.

A not surprising 5.7 this morning. I was going to give myself the 'stupidest person in the world award' but in reflection perhaps it should be the 'luckiest person in the the world award '.

I was carrying too much stuff up the stairs. Lost my footing and ended up falling backwards and slamming the back of my head onto the tiled floor. A hinge from the front door cut into my scalp - from which gushed out a truly impressive amount of blood all over the hallway.

Mr K had a glass of wine earlier in the evening and his breathalyser showed he was just over the limit (it truly was Mr K and not me who drank the wine) so I ended up being transported to the Norfolk and Norwich by ambulance. Was thoroughly checked over and stitched back together and got back home at 4.30am.

Superb care from everyone who looked after me. I couldn't fault it. While I was being treated a drunken man was abusing the A&E staff in a truly horrible manner. When I left he was being escorted out by police officers.

So feel a bit battered and bruised this morning but when I looked at where I fell I feel incredibly lucky that I didn't break my neck. Mr K said that he has checked the floor and I haven't broken any tiles. That made me laugh. He was really shaken up last night so it is good we can joke about it this morning.
Ouch, what a nightmare and a fright. I do hope you are mending well and feeling less shaken now.

you are spot on, @dunelm

it is , isn't it..

A lot of a winner, great abstract in the style of Monet as @dunelm pointed out. Another for the Tate.

Nice pencil work study should make a fine watercolour in your hands. Look forward to seeing you paintings on the new paper.

AndI didn't think it was all that good. I was dissatisfied with it. I can't make out why something is okay and something is not okay @Muddy Cyclist
It is always something that I think is not very good, and has dissatisfied me that other people seem to think it's better than I think it is.
I cannot work it out…

Not much of a businessman your hairdresser you won't need to go back for awhile. :)
He does it from a room on the back of his property, he's 72 and has heart problems and just does the old men from the local area. He likes the company and crack. We sat and talked afterwards, his next hair cut was later.

Glad your mum is offered the next jab @geefull

Thank you for my painting compliment.

A great sketch of the terracotta pot. I imagine that in watercolour. But whatever media you use, you always do a stunning painting.

Nice sketch @geefull and a good subject for adding some colour

Good morning everyone from a morning of promise and anticipation here at our little house on the prairie in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of chicken with salad came in at 5.2 this am
We left our bin out before we left home yesterday - it was sorely fed up but did not want to miss the parade of the bin lorry - think queuing to see the Beetles in the 60’s.

Jobs - there are jobs afoot, other body parts will come into play as needed. First on the list is get the pressure washer out and swab the decks but I may just leave that until it warms up a bit outside - plenty on the list that involves being near a radiator or two. Got to wake Mrs Miggins at 7 - she is off to pick up the ninky nonks and is hoping to get ahead of traffic a bit.

Meantime, a quick sketch on a bit of A5 rice paper. Hope that everyone has a marvelous day and remember, if brains were poisonous we would all be in the peak of good heath. Koffy time.

Good Morning and 7.5 for me today. Cheese Omelette and salad for dinner last night and Smoked Salmon Salad for lunch and no snacks so can't explain that high number. Some strange dreams of the fright type so must be those.

Cousin popping around later for a cuppa in garden so hope it warms up.

Keep safe make the most of the day.

View from your place to escape to? Misty valleys and hill and mountain tops peeping out early morning are memories I am very fond of, thanks for the reminder, I must escape! :)

Enjoy your stay and have fun.

Fbg 6.5

Cat was being pestiferous this morning...
He had wanted hugging all night. So, I did what he wanted. Each time I woke up he was peacefully asleep in my arms, so much so that I ended up waking him up a few times, just to check...

Anyway, I get up at 4am, do the usual, fbg and sweep floors and make a couple of cuppas (I always have a mug of tea and a mug of coffee!).

Get back in bed. Cat then becomes pestiferous. I say no, he has to wait. I need to drink my cuppas. At that moment I notice a badger outside my bedroom door (my bedroom door is fully glass from top to bottom and opens outwards into my garden). I am trying to put my cuppa down. I am trying to grab my phone. Cat is head butting me. He is saying you can't use your phone. I am watching the badger, a full grown one watching the antics of a cat and a human inside a glass cage. Badger is so inquisitive, looking at us in astonishment. Cat butts my phone and sends it flying. I have cat in armlock which he gets out of in seconds. I retrieve my phone. Try to get camera up and running. Cat butts phone again. Badger turns round and glides off into the darkness. I put phone down. Cat looks at me, ah that's better he says. Stroke me now, cat suggests. Absolutely blinking not, says I.

This is my best attempt at the inquisitive badger, because cat said no iPads either. So this digital painting in Procreate is a wrestling job between me and cat.

Cat Popeye has a thing about badgers. He takes them on if he sees them on his property. Many years ago he shot in like a bullet through the cat flap and went to the front room window and looked out. I followed him. A moment later, literally flying through the air, hurling himself against the large window, was an enormous badger. The window reverberated. I look in horror. Popeye looks at me, it's all right he says, the window will protect us. I don't have that faith when the badger is hurling himself for a second time. Popeye can take his chances. I shot off into bedroom and shut the door firmly. A short while later I tentatively emerge, expecting to find a badger roaming my front room. But Popeye is still sitting calmly on the window ledge with an I told you it would be all right expression.

Here is my rough attempt at a badger...in Procreate....
