Good news on the lateral flow test results and all the best for the BbA1c - **** nuisance with the water leak and hope that it is swiftly sorted out.

Thanks@dunelm. Just bad timing re the water leak but a mere inconvenience/ unwanted expense compared to problems other people are experiencing. Best wishes.

@ianpspurs. Thank you kind sir! Fortunately all cards and gifts have been delivered early "just in case" so donning our thermals and boots and starting to dig up the garden path will give us something to do for the next few days. Have a blessed Christmas with your family.

Did several New Year cards with robins.
So working on birdies.
One of my robins (not on here) looked like a lyrebird....

I will be short, so I need another 17 Christmas cards when I have finished these...sigh...I hate it when that happens. So, I will be cutting up some of the paintings I did like this before I started the Christmas cards...

That should do it...

5.5 this morning. We overslept again so only just time for a quick coffee after breakfast before the dog walk. Then it's shopping. We are doing the Christmas shopping early so we avoid crowded shops.

We could go, bending the rules as "no UK citizen should be prevented from travelling to the UK, but restrictions must be obeyed on return to France "
However this does not take into account the "Essential travel only" part of the French restrictions. And a family party, 24 people, 8-10 households, currently hovering uncertainty between go ahead or not, definitely does not qualify as essential. Not even with the added inducement of several purchases of winter clothing waiting to be collected.
Today 21.12 there is still the chance of government intervention, curtailing the numbers or forcing complete cancellation.
My brother( organising) is insisting on tests for all and suggests bringing blankets as all the doors and windows will be open. He is insisting on everyone obeying current advice.

The wonder wheel of steak with salad and speciality dressing came in at 5.2 this am

“Let’s go and see the sea” was the order of the day yesterday - down through the woods, follow the river down to the sea. Tide in, throw pebbles, re-enactment of Cnut then a bag of chips shared and ice cream in town on the way home. My prolapsed disc prevented me joining in but the photo’s were good and the “guess what we did” tales were exciting. Hope that digging of the garden path goes without incident @dogslife and that all is sorted quickly for you both. ‘To convey one’s mood in seventeen syllables is very diffic.’ (Dr John Cooper Clarke).

Another Christmas themed picture today, we are on an advent countdown fest. Stay well, time for more koffy.

Will make the effort, but no chance of getting them altogether though. Boxing day has always been the big family get together - to the extent that one of my sons who works in hospitality, has it written into his contract that he is guaranteed Boxing day off.
 
Morning all. St Thomas Day in C of E. Celebrated July 3rd for 2 other denominations. Interesting English customs - see attached - eerily contemporary and probably soon to be revived. My fbg was 5.4 @ 6.12 on Swipey - accounting for the device used and provisional nature of just what is a protective fbg, hardly reassuring. @Krystyna23040 I have PMd you. Enjoy the shopping. Sunday seemed to be the day the good people of Newmarket were ensuring if they had to isolate or supplies ran low - we cancelled one home delivery for that reason- they could "do Christmas" We only went to get dog food but ended up doing much of ours. Except, of course, for the collection from W on Christmas eve - rude not to. Also collecting our Turkey at the "farm gate" from Godwick, Kings Lynn on Thursday. Vaguely in your neck of the woods but minus HRH collecting hers this year. @gennepher wonderful cards - don't overdo it. I've been up two hours discussing whether to have more tea - I need more data but I'll review it hour by hour.

Have been assured that all are isolating for various numbers of days, but am sure there will be mixing on the actual day...number of potential contacts = too many.
Meanwhile French health system called us in for booster jabs on 17.12. Absolutely wiped me out. Spent two day sleeping on the sofa and next day staggering about as if drunk. According to the vaccinator a definite reaction is a good thing shows the jab had been effective. I could wish a little less debilitating though, have lost nearly 2kg again.
Oh and FBG this morning 5.8

Thank you for the artwork. Yesterday sounds wonderful, minus the back issues. How was the speciality dressing? Perhaps more prudent to have used Canute the Great with predictive text.
