What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

It’s turning into a right old week. Optician is now sending me straight up to Moorfields eye hospital. The glittery halo in my left eye ( which was the reason I made the appt) might be retinal detachment and needs urgent attention. It’s definitely not the cancer spreading (she said that presents differently which is a relief ). Blooming heck! It’s all go here. Might not get to post again - more of those stinging drops gone in my eyes. I’ll check in tomorrow. Hope everyone else has a more peaceful day.

That sounds interesting denelm. But I thought our cells were insulin resistant and that that was why the glucose levels were so high. I’m getting confused. Help!

Hope Moorfileds goes well. Not good but speedy referral and treatment should mean less time to "dwell" on it.

Daughter’s appt was pretty inconclusive, a locum doctor and a load more tests ordered but no attempt to bring hospital appt and colonoscopy forward ( it’s not til Oct.
I thought issues like this were put on a pathway where there are strict time limits...I wonder if it's worth asking what the time frame should be?...how frustrating for you all.

egards offering meters on dx she said it would be too costly.
As we know not in the long term Pm...how short sighted many of our HCP's are we all know how debilitating diabetic complications are and of course how costly they are in addition to the psychological/societal damage they cause...the positive effect of testing our BG's should be recognised & offered on prescription to those who want to test.

Hugs for your day x

Thank you.
I still have tweaking to do but I am confident some of the clue is to eating at the right times of day.

I read your post about your new DN and her mother. I cannot imagine feeling hungry. I never feel hungry eating this way.

Sounds though you have a reasonable DN.

>^..^<

Sorry for the urgent referral but you are going to the best eye hospital possible and hopefully it wont be serious or too stressful. Sending hugs, have lots of rest after.

Completely agree but she is cheerful and open (so far) and tbh its not in her remit to decide on issuing meters to all. I think she might be more encouraging to newly dx people than most and that can only be good.

I rarely feel hungry also and if I am now I just eat 1 or 2 teasp peanut butter from the jar (nothing to spread it on anymore lol) and that fixes it. I am miserable if I am hungry.

Mum arrived intact thank you and slept for the two and a half hour journey home.

Please don’t get confused, it’s not my fault, nobody saw me, you can’t prove ... hang about!
OK, yes, but the visualisation of such a simple explanation can act as an aid to helping the bewildered, like myself, to drop a few pounds (I don’t do KG - must be special needs).
When I taught mathematics to the unteachable I used to ask them to draw a picture of what the numbers would end up like - seemed to work as many of them soon picked up Dy/Dx with ease. (I used to teach psychology and the history and philosophy of science as well but don’t tell anyone as I know nothing about either subject - or maths for that matter).

Hope that works out well for you.

good afternoon all

was 4.7 this morning.

Out all the first part of the day because of the car repairs, service and MOT, upside was a tasty 'eggs benedict' for breakfast (I binned most of the toasted muffin it was sitting on ), downside of course is the bill.
It wasn't too bad, all things considered, even though we chose to replace all four tyres because we could get a considerable discount for buying four now rather than two now and two later and they would have needed replacing fairly soon.

@dunelm glad mum arrived safely
@DJC3 hope things go well, at least they are taking swift action.

Hope your day is treating you kindly

My thoughts on this are similar. The fewer the cells, the more glucose each cell gets; the more the cells, the less glucose each one gets -- sounds like the same amount of glucose to me, just distributed differently.

I'm confused too.

Hugs for the Moorfields visit and best wishes for a good result.

Your plans sound well thought out gennepher! Good luck with your bg battles

Just got back from the eye hosp and all is well. They said the vitreous humour is drying out with age (! Charming) and there’s a broken blood vessel at the back which is probably causing the halo. It should sort itself out. What a relief!!! Wasn’t expecting that today but feel so lucky to have been referred and sorted out so quickly. The NHS at its best!
Thank you everyone for your comments and good wishes @ianpspurs @Bubbsie @gennepher @PenguinMum @dunelm @Geeful @SaskiaKC
