Thank you and may you be blessed with a pot of gold that offers you happiness, prosperity and luck! Enjoy your day with the Poppy Troll. Is it wrong of me to wish you all top of the morning? is that cultural appropriation or the very worst kind of lazy stereotype? Anyhow, the wish is genuine and here is a poem and some thoughts from Malcolm Guite as my contribution to the creative element of the thread. @gennepher you started today's creative sharing so thank you for another splendid kaleidoscope. I hope shadow is speedily recovered to her former trust and friendly disposition. @dunelm thank you for the art. I'm glad the talk went well and I hope the installation goes well. Do invest in coffee logs - bean to fire must be a winner. Two roasts are better than one style of thing. @SlimLizzy spartan is always a good look for me but we all have our own personal taste. Remember to build in rest and relaxation. Just now I have a 2 yo granddaughter dressed in a Poppy troll costume bought by her 92 yo Great Grandmother aka Nanny London watching Troll on Netflix with her Nanny. We have a granddaughter called Poppy. How very singular. Whatever you do today, do it safely but above all with love.
Not a pot of gold as commonly understood but we now also have her big cousin - all grown up at 3. Eventually I'l get the hang of looking after girls. Meantime this is obviously the best "job" I've ever had.Thank you and may you be blessed with a pot of gold that offers you happiness, prosperity and luck! Enjoy your day with the Poppy Troll.
Nice idea.I used to use post it notes, a pile of them stuck the the centre of the steering wheel, each removed and placed carefully in a pile for the return journey (if there was to be one) - and remembering that on return, left was right and so forth.
GG .it MUST be from choice provided above posts. Not for me carefully packed suitcase night before travelling and use hotels hairdryer enough to pack has it is.K. Haha
@alf_Josiah Thank you thank you thank you, hate not being able to work things out, I only started to learn about computers in my 60s picked things up has I went along do everything on them now, but since Covid and this year the amount of extra information and online form filling for holidays abroad are doing my head in. It was enough with booking sending in passport information etc, now it’s downloading to your phone tickets, country your travelling to locator form vaccinations status. Even though UK has done away with most everything the EU hasn’t we have had to move our holiday has our vaccinations would not have been valid we would have been out of the 270day rule the EU has imposed . Consequently more lost money and extra money to rebook another date, moaning over the sunshine will compensate with my aching joints that ease with the warmth, but we do travel around a lot on holidays we get on trains and buses, up-to the mountain villages into cities, we don’t spend our holidays around a pool all day or on the beach we love to see how local people get around and see more than the resort we are staying in . We have been very fortunate to have done lots of travelling over the 43years my husband and I have been together but we always worked hard to be able to do these things we love. We are looking to return again to some of the countries we have loved more than others to see how they have changed over the years, our very first holiday was to Yugoslavia, Opatija beautiful country friendly people but armed police on the streets and airport was a military base guards with machine guns very alien to us helicopters landing no where for people to relax no lounges, hole in wall of an hanger where your luggage was passed through. Department store in capital had farming machinery on one level electrical dept few clothes , few seats on buses just leather straps to hold onto, no queuing everyone just lunged forward we brits had no chance polite queues no chance, but my husband had a plan on our return journey we were first a the bus stand has soon has bus doors opened he made a grab for both handles and just said Kath get on, I went under his arms and got two seats for the journey back. We laugh about it even now the buses are unlike any we’ve seen I called them bendy buses they were two buses joined together by a flexible heavy rubber tube like thing, we have them on some of our trams and trains now but not 43 years ago.
Wonderful places all different in their own ways, oh we have had some funny experiences the boat trip captain who thought I was on my own and invited me to have lunch with him, I went too it would have been impolite to refuse I could see everyone whilst I had an enjoyable lunch. The captain on the other hand was not too amused on learning my husband was only feet away
but I had a laugh and a free lunch on the Captain, not been back to Yugoslavia since though.K

Nice idea.
Have to say, I was always very map savvy, loved to overlook the route, establish what's nearby, etc.
And on the route I too would have some way points to aim for
However, SatNav..omg
Game changer.
Update of busy roads,
A refresh of route if you take a wrong turn
(A few times in map days, that was a good 5 minute session, now its done on the hoof ).
Do agree @gennepher about missing so much around you .
One of THE beauties of the biking way, is being a part of the environment, not shut away in a cage.
But smelling the countryside around you, feeling the elements brush against you, as the bike propels you forward..(be still my beating heart )
I know You rode on bikes Genn, and I think your still a biker at heart.
Old ways , yes if I have too.
But Skynet , if I don't .
(Hope I get the Good Arnie <pray >)
Side note
I know many cars come with now.
(How else do they up the price and sell new improved models lol )
But why on earth anyone would choose to buy and fit a car unit, when almost any phone offers a superb offering of SatNav as OE ...
Enjoy the day all
Looks lovely here in the Capital![]()

Poor wee thingNephews wife, who weirdly had accident same day and almost same time as me, goes in fir some keyhole shoulder surgery today
Just called him to offer best way she's etc
Seems their cat came home last night sounding rough
A Raspy breath, but no signs of obstruction or injury .
Nurses her all night .
Poor mite couldn't get comfortable.
So lays still on her favourite spot
He leaves her to go sleep early hours, missus, still working , gets home 7am.
Cat pops up , stretches out, takes a few loving strokes, then bounds out of house, into garden, onto wall and drops into garden spot 2 doors away (her 2nd home apparently )
Nephews goes along rings bell, explains story wants to take cat to vet.
Cat curdled up in garden, passed away
Both of us musing what spirits guide us or drive us when our time is up.??
RiP little cat <pray>
I obviously don't understand how inflation works BUT how does raising interest rates lower the price of petrol/diesel or gas and electricity let alone affect the price of raw materials impacted by war in Ukraine and the awful deal Tubby sold as amazing.? Surely this will raise overheads for business leading to higher prices and lower living standards. Not really my problem but it is for my children and their children. Judging by how long the effect of TBW has lasted, my grandchildren's children as well. Yours confused of Suffolk.
You'll like the attached - or maybe not. I never liked Wilson and may need to offer Her a tiny grudging acknowledgement even though overall she made most people poorer among other egregious errors. Interesting how Callaghan has been demonised by Wislon's apologists. Tubby is an unmitigated disaster as anyone with eyes could have seen a mile off. Meanwhile in Barbados, Benjamin Stokes esq is literally smashing it out the park.Mmhh
One could summise, that just at the point many might need it most, the cost of borrowing, increases dramatically, as a deterrent obv, not about making more profit for some ..
If we were concerned previously and happy to chastise those 'living beyond their means who climb into credit card debt (30%+)
How many more will now join that merry band, through little fault of themselves when SO many basics are rising wildly ?
AND of course we all listen to the greedy fat bankers (yep, You heard that in your head, the first time)
saying that we should limit our expectations of pay rises to match their soaring bonuses or the energy companies etc extortionate profits .
Angry ...?
Barely describes it.
Incandescent.
That's the colour we should all be over this.
