What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.0 this morning - which is surprising after a very disturbed night. How can such a small Labrador take up so much of the bed.

Poppy is still a bit woozy this morning but.managed to eat all her breakfast.

Petelongation...

Real problem apparently

Enjoy the love

Cool and very green with verdant growth here in North Cumbria after the rain. Hard to believe it will be hot soon?

Derek
Think your outside the 'New Tropics of southern England," Derek ..

God knows how any of us will ever be able to travel south at this rate, if it's a full on Emergency once we hit 40° here and no-one can cope

(Yes, very aware we never built for such heat
And some will struggle )

But it's summer, hardly lasts forever, and this new heat defcon level 1, has only existed since 2021..I wonder which ministers mates got the contract for overly priced thermometers that prove unusable, etc, etc ...cynic ..moi

Enjoy the day,

Iiz truss AND safe hands.....

I think she showed how superficial she is

She got lost entering and exiting her campaign speech.. literally one door, and she failed

Fully agree the depth of talent is and shown there as extremely poor

Now @alf_Josiah those chopper works of art as you call them, I love them, because of my arthritis and balance problems with my arthritis with 2 wheelers. Something like this would work for me to be able to ride in safety! And have my walker in it!!!!
There are a group of bikers here who custom make these kind of bikes, and I have seen a long cavalcade of an assortment of these going past. Some have wives/partners and children/grandchildren all in their Sunday best....

Keep posting your pics Alf!

Afternoon.

BG a decent for me 7.2

Hades central here, if you go by the news
Or London in Summer, as us locals call it.

A mixed week.

Hand therapy mentioned vibration massager, so prime day buy at a decent price, 50 plus speeds & numerous attachments, seen an improvement over the few days I have had it.
Plus it will be useful for Laurens muscle, etc complaints after yoga, Pilates (fascias, anyone ? ) ..so far a big 5 star buy

PTSD went ok..but hadn't gone into it as expected...so I have that next session to look forward to

A visitor from rehab went well
A few initiatives that may be put in place, possibly

Gym membership is a possibility
Do have membership which I cancelled from hospital...so might get that reinstated

Swimming mentioned, and I'm probably over thinking it, but entry exit concerns
No real grip left hand, right shoulder dislikes too much pressure..and leg

Lauren says if steps an issue, just scoot out by pulling up from side of pool, if legs bad , like we did as kids..mmh

So easy to forget I can't put real pressure on bad hand or shoulder...I'd end up floundering like some dufus walrus

More thinking required, me thinks

And depending how the PTSD therapy, the offer is of possible further sessions IF needed.

So some real positives.

Week's been boring otherwise

A few trips outside, none too far, but away from 4 walls anywhere is a break.

Downloaded, or downstreamed
(©™ mad Nads )
the book you mentioned @dunelm

Only a few pages in, but interesting,. Cheers.

Not sure if I mentioned the attention span of a goldfish, but a few TV series got me back watching telly....and now the book, I hope

Latest is apples All of Mankind
A space exploration Saga, so good so far.

Otherwise, it's just eat, move, sleep
Repeat

And loving the new animated weather forecasts for next week ..eek

(Love the Riddick Series..pitch black, for the win )

@jjraak and fellow greaser,
Mentally tough old week then, you made me smile calling the London hades, I call it Mordor. Like you I’m dreading the predicted weather, I just can’t take high temperatures, it also plays havoc with my blood sugars. I think the bike will now have a little siesta until lower temperatures abound.
Sorry but I tend to ignore the masignations of the various political parties so I can’t join in your posts, My policy is simplistically distrust the lot.
Your journey is long and not to be envied, I just hope some of my posting bring a smile.
Stay cool, stay safe.

Your massager sounds good @jjraak
I now have two hand massagers. One smaller pink one I mentioned awhile ago. Then I ordered a second one which goes up the arm a little, and I need that for my carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as for trigger thumb. I use them several times a day, and during the night as well.
I had to explain to my daughter, while she was here, that if she heard machinery going in the night, it was the Borg re-awakening...

Full on there. Book? I mentioned a book? I hope it’s a good one (is it time for my nap yet nurse).

Good morning everyone from an overcast and drizzly start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Yipee! Thats the garden watered and the car washed - I’m going through my tasks for the day quite quickly. Still, tomorrow it’s all going to change. I have heard that railway lines will buckle, mobile phones will be too hot to handle, the Serpentine will boil and anyone stepping outside will end up like those folk in the last days of Pompeii. Perhaps we should all go to Sharm el Sheikh and lie on a beach but only if you are one of the luck dip winners at Heathrow. I shall be staying firmly in The North where winter is always coming but lately never quite gets there. Grandson passed trials to keep his place in North Yorkshire Football Academy for another season and his team won the boys U14 (NE) football tournament yesterday - one happy boy.
Art bit - some shading and padding out where foliage is on the trees. Have a wonderful day if you can - hang bacofoil in your windows to reflect heat from the sun if you want but don’t wear your tin foil hat outdoors just yet. Best make some koffy.

Fbg 6.7

While my daughter was here, something was determined to get in my garden via the wrought iron front gate. I have split cane screening this side of the gate attached to it, to try to stop small animals from entering. But in the night, a particular small animal had forced its way through breaking the cane screening into small pieces. And then had helped itself to digging up the lower part of my vegetable garden. My wrought iron gate is now covered in chicken wire. And my vegetable garden looks like an art installation with the protective measures I used last night.

Vegetable garden was still intact this morning. But not the cushions nor Big Ted nor Midnight's comfy squashed cat pyramid. They had all been pulled/knocked off the swing seat and strewn all over the place. A midnight battle? And Midnight came from under the swing seat in a very vocal manner. I checked him over. No injuries. So gave him his breakfast. Vegetable garden was okay, because of my protection. But some plants in the garden had been dug up, and this unknown creature had dug all around the roots of my Himalayan raspberry bush. So more protection needed by tonight.

Small badger, small fox? But no fox poop is being left. Foxy always leaves his calling card. I don't think it is badger. The holes dug are too small. So poop identification again...

We do have Polecats here. I have seen them driving home in the dark on the lane. Poop ID suggests Polecat.

Another animal to protect my garden from.

Why my garden?
All the other gardens are a concrete or tarmac jungle...

Creative in Laboscope is one of the plants dug up in the night in a bucket with water in it. I hung it on a pole to remind me to deal with it, and I think you can see my red apples as well.

Time for a nap...
But cuppa first...

Congratulations for grandson @dunelm

No rain here for aeons...

Great art bit with shading and padding out. A few more leaves and you could find shelter from the sun under your trees...

Good morning all on a not as scorching as tomorrow and Tuesday Breckland Sunday. Today my youngest son is 30 for which I thank God BBQ will be fired up, local family will be here which means gazebo and unicorn paddling pool for junior members. @dunelm thanks for the art, congratulations to your grandson and, I guess, the rain. @gennepher what a stunning kaleidoscope, possibly your favourite of mine so thank you so much. Sorry to hear about the animal intruder and intrigued about how you identify poo. Whatever level warning your area do adhere to the basics and God willing we all continue meeting here virtually.

Maybe it's me who needs nursey to visit

Was very sure it was you.

Atomic Habits by James clear..

Apologies if someone else offered the book.

Off to search now, for my own sanity.

hugs for that potential polecat interloper but what a fine kaleidoscope you have produced. Yes, red apple in abundance.

Thank you @ianpspurs. Happy Birthday to youngest son. Family round for BBQ - best of times.

4.7 this morning. Very early dog walk while it is still cool. Later we will visit my sister. Mr K will repair her broken door bell then we will have a relaxing coffee. Our dogs get on really well with her dog.

Yesterday Mr K gave Poppy a painkiller in error instead of the antibiotic. She had already had her painkiller for the day. When I realised I over reacted and went all 'drama queen'. Very unusual for Mr K to make a mistake and usually I am much more laid back.

I spoke to a really nice emergency vet who said that dogs tolerate an accidental overdose of this particular.painkiller really well - so luckily all was well.
