Therapist very pleased

Did make an effort and paid slightly for it later, but felt SO good.

Good morning everyone from a dry start to the day here with the prospect of a sultry 19c spoilt by wind and some rain later. Internally Hive would have us believe we can tootle along at 20-22c for now without further enriching Eon, @dunelm thank you for the art but perhaps best I don't link to Mr Harris' version of Stairway to Heaven. Interesting about the latest A1c being slightly higher but no flashing red light despite #beergate and whatever went in France stays in France. Interesting points about Greenwashing. There is an issue and going full on JRM is also madness squared. Talking of which, the current spectacle of Blue on Blue is amusing. Liz seems to be the blue Corbyn. The Tufton Street Massacre Groceries from the central warehouse in MK arrive here later then collect two grandchildren from school, feed and water before dad delivers grandson to cubs. @Krystyna23040 good news on Archie's digestive issues resolving and the PEMF machine seems to be helping JKP so thanks. Have a spiffing day chums - Spurs didn't lose so I'm ok with that.

Thanks @jjraak - total cholesterol came in at 3.1 so just the high blood pressure to address. Good stuff with your own physio - it’s getting better all the time (cue Lennon & McCartney).

FBG 8.7. Have to go to the Health Centre to have my legs unbandaged and, with any luck, fit with the new, tailor made, stockings. As a result, I had my breakfast a bit early. Wish I hadn't now because my stomach is warning me that one more straw is going to break the camel's back. In fact, it's wondering if the damage isn't already done. But I have pills to take before I go out. That might be the final insult. Might just lay down for a bit first.
 
I do hope you can have the new tailor made stockings and they do the job. Hug for the result of the early breakfast. Laying down sounds perfect.

I rather assumed that 2 stockings folded together would be a pair. Wrong! My 2 pairs of stockings came as 2 left and 2 right. And I left behind the 2 right ones and only took 2 left ones. "They are labelled," the nurse said but the labelling is too small for me to read without glasses and I could only see it because I was searching for it when I came home. So I came home with one leg in a stocking and the other without. That one was terribly difficult for the nurse to get onto me, but she managed it in the end. The right one is now on, but it was even more difficult to put on - even with the wire frame that I have to help with the job. They are both currently rolling down from the top.

When I got to the Health Centre I was told I was also to have a blood test. If they'd told me that beforehand, I might have made an effort to get more fluids in so there was something to draw but I had deliberately reduced the fluids I was taking because I knew I was going out. Result - no blood available to be drawn off. The nurse had to give up and I need to make another appointment for the blood test. What's it for? Apparently I am supposed to have them every 3 months - that's news to me. I did have one at the hospital a couple of months ago and that also was said to be part of a regular check-up and was also news to me having been unable to get an appointment to see anyone for over 2 years until recently.

BG only risen slightly. 10.3 before I went out and 10.5 when I came home. It will drop now, I think, if I listen to the warnings of my tum and don't eat anything.

What do you do then...spaghetti in the air?
Blind people...that is a hazard, you could sue over that.
Mobility scooters? Some have extremely low floor clearance.
Mine gets stuck with these rubber protection things on the pavements...some are quite big.

How did anyone think by putting charging points on lamp posts that someone would leave that space for a leccy car?

They certainly wouldn't in my road...
 
It's going to be a two tier system, and if I'm honest I think that IS the plan...zil lanes for friends of the powerful.

Anyone currently driving an ICE vehicle on limited income, I doubt could be able to afford £50 - £60k for a new car

And not sure how resalable a car will be 2nd hand, if it needs ££££'s of pounds replacing the batteries . ?


Taken a lot of interest since I got the e-scooter, ( in a limited way.)

As part of my return to mobility, I'm considering an E bike.
London blessed with many schemes, and have to say I've been very impressed by the ones I have used

New bikes good battery (3 years life span, generally) circa £600 to the skies the limit

2nd hand ..circa £300..bear in mind they'll be approaching 3 years old

New batteries in the £100-£150 bracket.

Get past that time frame prices drop dramatically.

And that's with a system of simply slotting in a new one at home.
Car infinitely more complicated.

And what do we do when EVERY one has a huge battery that's incredibly difficult to recycle ....mmmhh.

BG this morning 5.7 not fasting as I had two spoonfuls if Greek yoghurt in the night.
Kiki visited the big outdoors yesterday and got scared by something. She reverted to day 1 behaviour, skittering sideways at us and hiding in small spaces. It took all evening to calm her down. So I am back to being a lap all day again- this is so that I become her safe warm place whatever is happening. She has burrowed her way inside my fleece jacket and is sleeping now. This despite the electrician making strange noises nearby. Maybe by tonight she will have recovered her confidence.
 
I am so pleased that the PEMF machine is helping HIP @ianpspurs

My mum had a Prius - bought for her new and she had it for over ten years. Never an issue (apart from the Mr Magoo driving style). From that sample of one I think a hybrid is a better bet. Still very expensive mind.
 
Good morning everyone from bin-day-by-the-sea here in the dark and dangerous north. According to my Dark Sky app, I am in for an overcast day but not rain. So, I will walk into town this morning for my face to face appointment with a real doctor. I bought the appointment in a car boot sale for £3.99 several years ago and according to The Antiques Road Show it’s now worth more than a tank full of petrol and could make as much as a monthly utility bill. Prescriptions to pick up as well so that will be enough ‘jobs’ for one day.
Art bit - adding some texture. Still messing on with what has so far taken a week and a half but it’s getting there. I hope you all have a day of pain free pleasure (unless that’s your bag of course), my koffy is now ready to slurp.

How very prescient of you to have set aside that appointment all those years ago. Thank you for sharing your art yet again. @Krystyna23040 I hadn't noticed the predictive text change. Your fbg may have been downgraded if you have one of those Fitch glucometers I'll leave you two new ideas: the Dunning-Kruger effect which is highly contagious in confined spaces such as cabinet tables; Wife guys which Mr O'Leary must find hard to resist - or not just now. FBG 11.8 at 3.45 am. Tea and pills and a doze in the chair later: 11.4. It was very cold so at 8.45 I had some warmed milk and BG is now 12.8.

I managed to get my new stockings on and they do hold my legs on pretty well but they still roll down a bit which is painful. I can actually see my toes now so will try to get an appointment with a podiatrist, or at the very least a chiropodist. Then I'll even be able to get my shoes on comfortably.

This podiatry thing is odd. For years the podiatry department at the hospital insisted that they had to be the ones to deal with footcare for diabetics. Nobody else was to touch diabetic feet. Not carers, not family, not the patient. Then came covid. The service was withdrawn and we were told to do it ourselves or have a family member do it meantime. Home carers were specifically told not to take on the care of people's feet because they are not trained to do it. But the shut down of services is over now and we are still being told that the department isn't doing routine footcare any more. It's up to the individual to sort it out for themself. There is one private podiatrist but he has too many clients to take on any more. There is an old-fashioned chiropodist in Stornoway who has come back out of retirement to work part time but his appointments are hard to get. I used to care for my pre-diabetic father's feet for the last almost 3 decades of his life but was told that I had to stop because it wasn't safe for him.

The question is - why was it so bad for us to take care of our own feet pre-covid but is now perfectly allright?
 
There has to be some other answer for transport, but I don't know what.
As a disabled person who needs my own vehicle to get about and be independent, all this worries me. But then I could pop my clogs before it became an issue for me @jjraak

I need a car to house my mobility scooter in the boot, or will 'they' be phasing disabled people out as well...
