What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all from the Exotic East on the day after flu jab 2022 for myself and JKP. No noticeable reaction yet but who knows what lies ahead? Housework, a VIP visit, school run, time with grandchildren including feeding and watering followed by football watching is my plan unless there are enforced U-turns. They are very popular lately but sold as listening. @dunelm your days sound action packed but they seem to be wonderful for your fbg. Thank you for revealing more of that wonderful art and enjoy or if not benefit from your day. @gennepher thanks for both the video and creative. @SlimLizzy interesting scarf and for those who like cats I can see why Kiki would be irresistible. Have the best possible time today safely and with due care and attention for everyone else. Today the more woke C of E are very busy commemorating Wilfrid of Ripon, Bishop, Missionary, 709 [Lesser Festival] Elizabeth Fry, Prison Reformer, 1845 [Commemoration] Edith Cavell, Nurse, 1915 [Commemoration]. Presumably all part of the anti growth coalition but jolly good people one and all.
Thank you @ianpspurs

At least the fur stole still has a live cat inside it....

9.7 at 5.30 this morning. Took painkillers and fell asleep again in the big kitchen chair. Woke up at 9.50 with BG of 13.5. I'm taking the 9.7 as my FBG. Currently 14.5. I meant to continue with the idea of 3 small meals today, but only up to several cups of tea until now. Just had a slice of toast with butter and Marmite. Can't fit in 2 more meals today, so will just have one more a bit later on.

My wide Velcro came in the post yesterday, so I'm experimenting with making some kind of support for these compression stockings. I thought it was working, but as soon as I started moving around, gravity got itself going and, as an idea, it has failed. More work required.

Just a thought, I found milk in tea and koffy raised my blood sugars so I now drink tea and koffy black, I found all the milk substitutes just to much bother.

I think you are right. Milk in tea and coffee, plus the couple of teaspoons of yoghurt I need to take pills with, will affect my BG. I gather that even black tea can put BG up. But I can only drink black coffee, not black tea. And too much coffee puts my blood pressure up. Another no-win-situation for me.

I don't know what yoghurt you have to swallow your pills with, but would Greek yogurt be better than ordinary yoghurt @Annb

That's what I use. I am very bad at swallowing pills. They stick in my throat if I take them with a liquid, so - Greek yoghurt - as many pills as possible on one teaspoonful - usually 2 to get them all down.

Tricky .. but well done on the yoghurt .

Not a coffe drinker by a long way, so feel free to ignore, but many choose real cream in their coffee

Makes coffee taste nice, and the fat helps make the gap between meals easier/longer.

Don't think I've heard anyone say it raised their BG levels, but worth checking out to be sure ..mmhh

Good morning everyone from day four of the pain and pleasure course here in the dark and dangerous north. Yesterday we looked at the anatomy of spines and how pain works (I think we all know that bit!) and how to manage flare ups. Then, joy of joys, an hour of movement therapy in the pool followed by steam room and sauna. We get weekend passes at the end of today and back again on Monday for week two. Art bit - the last of the fiddle faddle. Colour next. Have a marvelous Thursday - you can call it another day if it’s starts going wrong for you. I shall indulge in some koffy.

Fbg 6.6

I have seen this rat a few times. He always checks the swing for (cat) Midnight...
But Ratty never comes out when Midnight is on the swing...

I was out all day today, and when I got home someone was not talking to me.

I had left him on my bed when I went out, but obviously that was not good enough. And when I got back home Midnight was sitting on the swing in the cold rain (he is dry on the swing) when he could've been sitting inside in the nice warmth of my cosy bed. He turned his back to me.

5 hours later, and it was now dark outside, he was still not acknowledging my presence.

Fine, I said to him, I am locking up now. He still ignored me. But as soon as he heard the door shut, and the key in the lock, his face turned in shock. I walked away, came back a few minutes later (he can get back in through the cat flap on the kitchen door to his supper, but you know cats, they command you open a particular door for them), and he was sitting on that door step, looking through the glass, his eyes wide open. Let me in...

I showed my friend yesterday photos of Midnight. She looked in horror at the size of him. That's not a cat, look at the size of him, and the size of those paws on him, and those massive claws...

The claws were fully extended, and he was lying on my legs, from his bum by my feet right up to my chest, and although he was relaxed, his claws were fully out in all their splendour...

I might have some making up to do today...

Cuppa next.

Have a great day...

Cats always expect servants to open doors. I like the grainy background on monster cat wanted poster

Physio called on me on Tuesday and extended the exercises she felt I could manage so I did as requested and couldn't walk on Wednesday. My muscles really are in poor shape - she's quite right but in future I'll go a bit easier on myself. A slightly reduced regime today, I think, now that I can walk again.

Someone from the Occupational Therapy department is coming to see me today to see what equipment might help me.

FBG 6.5 - that's after a drop to 3.9 about 2 am. Had a boiled sweet (I always keep one on my bedside shelf for emergencies) and the result was a 2.6 rise in the 4 hours before I got up.

Good morning everyone on The Feast of the Translation (remains moved to Westminster Abbey today in 1269) of St Edward the Confessor. After overnight rain here it is looking like a beautiful day. Today’s thread theme seems to be if it ain’t hurting it ain’t working. @Annb the optimistic is for the improved mobility not the hypo or yesterday’s pain. @dunlem you say fiddle faddle I say enhancement and a wonderful gift freely shared. Yesterday’s routine is much like what I fly to Cyprus to enjoy but without the champagne breakfast by the pool afterwards or winter sun. @gennepher thanks for the creative and video. That is a wise rat and Midnight looks like a monster in that poster. Enjoy, benefit from or make the best of today safely and thoughtfully. Take it easy. We may lose, we may win but we will never be this way again - or will we?

First off...GREAT FBG..

And FANTASTIC you're back on your feet... Whoop, Whoop .

But i hear that on the exercises..
No matter how the sensible us, says, "pace yourself".
THAT measuring is SO hard ...:arghh:

Good luck with OT.
I found some of the gadgets offered quite helpful.

Sock ones was a faff, mind.
But needed...who knew my feet were so far away ..lol.

Best wishes

Morning

Ooh what a week.
Lauren better and back at work.
(Only one in office, all on holiday)
So jj-Ubers.inc back in operation.

Rough over weekend, woke up Tuesday looking & feeling great
But end of Tuesday a bit less bouncy ... Wednesday a day of gathering strength.

Not fully fit, but thankfully she's well on the way to recovery.

So my inner nurse ratched put away, for now.

As for me, fine.

Much like when I had it, we were sensible but didn't closet ourselves away completely.
Good risk of a small dose,
But i never caught it knowingly nor did she with me.

I say that, as it's my strong belief it is dose orientated.
High dose - bad infection.
Low dose - may test positive but body copes or barely registers it.

Isn't that how vaccines work ?

And trying to completely avoid this is going to near impossible.

Given the government has given up on covid & we're now in the pretend world where it's over, we'll be infecting ourselves endlessly for the next few years.
