What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Oh joy! The men digging out the ditch (requested by car drivers who haven't the sense to slow down when they see a 3" deep puddle) seem to have cut through our water supply. No water in the tap for drinks. Until it's fixed it will have to be full strength fruit juice or milk. In fact, we were quite happy for them to be working on the ditch but Neil did explain to them where there were pipes/field drains/sewer to try to avoid. He's just hotfooted up the road to find out what's happening.
The workmen had realised that they cut through the water pipe and they were what they called "splicing it together" Neatening the 2 cut ends and taping them together, I guess they mean. Hope it holds. Anyway, we have water again, so no problem. I was thinking they would have to call out someone from the water supplier - that would have taken ages to fix.

Never underestimate the oops factor of people digging holes in things.

Just got home from my diabetic review nurse was very pleased with my results cholesterol up only slightly just asked to watch my fats in my foods explained about rising BG after eating any small amount of carbs and told me to see doctor when he gets back off holiday in three weeks. K

Interesting day! Reduced my fasting window to include lunch and brought dinner forward by an hour. So 20/4 fasting.
Weight at noon 107.3kg
Morning BG. 78 but was at 103 at 3 points in the night, starting at a low of 71 at midnight! Average low was about 80?
Breakfast skipped
Lunch Chicken, sauce Robert and steamed hispi cabbage.
Dinner Chinese stir fry, small amount of noodles(70g), with loads of beansprouts, enoki mushrooms, red pepper, pork, spring onions, black bean sauce, ginger, garlic, peanut and sesame oil. ½ mug of hot chocolate with milk and Candarel….
78 mg/dl before dinner..82mg/dl 2 hours after.
I am pretty pleased with that... I had a few really low BG's in the last few days, and this looks like it is keeping between 80&90 (4.4&5). the specialist I saw yesterday said that my pancreas is trying to balance things and that is why i have been getting spikes. Fingers crossed i don't get any really low spikes tonight!

Bed at midnight last night but awake again by 1 am. Gave up and got up just after 2 am. New places been hurting for a month or so but last night they were bad. Pills and once they started to kick in, getting the dishwasher going. I am going to break my fast earlier today to try to avoid BG rising too far. Mornings are always the worst for BG. Started out at 5.8 and rising gradually to 8.9 so far.

Em is going to spend the day with me. She's been off school for several days, as have others at her school, with some sort of very odd condition - kids just can't wake up. Dragged out of bed after a solid night's sleep, they are more like zombies than children and given half a chance, they fall asleep again. That continues throughout the day. No temperature, no stomach symptoms, no headache, no obvious reason. Em has improved, but she's still not fit to go to school. Her mum has to start work in Stornoway at 7 am and her dad has to start work in Stornoway at 8 am. They will both be out most of the day. So here she has to be.

It was wIndy and bucketing it down with rain yesterday and felt dark as night most of the day. Not uplifting at all. I had a successful early morning, but didn't feel like doing anything later. I got soaked several times yesterday, and the hallway was full of my clothes hanging up drying with the dehumidifier underneath.
I have never known so much relentless rain day after day after day.

Cat, Midnight, watches the two foxes very intently...and his body is tensed up...

Creative is autumn, painted in Procreate.

I have been in those irretrievably deleted files again, I mentioned yesterday, and irretrievably deleted them again. But when I turned the Apple device back on, the irretrievably deleted files had reappeared...
I don't like the implications of this....

Time for a cuppa.

Unfortunately, gennepher, your creative doesn't open. I'll try again later and see if it works.

I was in the process of editing the post, adding a bit about the so called irretrievably deleted files. I think @Annb when you are editing the post it doesn't open up properly for others.
You should be able to see the creative now!
You have the best day you can x

Well worth the wait, gennepher. Fantastic. Looks about as wet as our road has been recently. We don't have many deciduous leaves left now - just the flowering cherry seems to be determined to hang on to its summer clothes. Maybe it wants to be one of the firs on the other side of the garden.

Wonderful light and darkness

Good morning everyone on another damp start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Yesterday we glimpsed the art of misdirection and the value of members of parliament attending the Tommy Cooper school of sleight of hand. I bet they can claim expensed for that. Anyhow, to more important things, it’s the girl in the bubble’s birthday today - the big 3! How exciting. A tea party has been organised for tomorrow - please note, A tea party rather than The Tea Party - we won’t be going all principled while playing pass the parcel and eating cake.
Art bit - not much change but it will get there in the end. Have a wonderful Friday should you choose to live in the now. I need some koffy and then take my pills.

Am just catching up with yesterday's posts. Hope you have your water back on now.

Mr K sets the bar impossibly high for we mere mortals but it is always good to know the standard to which we should aspire. This is something you have mentioned before and includes some useful exercises people can do at home: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/202...them-could-help-cut-gym-time-study-shows.html
Thank you for this article @ianpspurs. It is so interesting. I especially liked this extract
' We already know only one eccentric muscle contraction a day can increase muscle strength if it is performed five days a week – even if it’s only three seconds a day – but concentric (lifting a weight) or isometric muscle contraction (holding a weight) does not provide such an effect.'

Wow - I hadn't realised that eccentric exercise was that good.
I have really been focussing on eccentric exercises in my classes lately and it is definitely building class members strength quite significantly.
The exercises in the article are really good and we do some of then in our classes.

Really good news @Annb

Lovely painting @gennepher. I do love the colours.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all who played battleships in their school exercise books.

A 6.7 this morning, ho hum.

This mornings plans and also lunch with friends are now in the rubbish bin. Mrs J has a back up plan which will involve lots of effort on my part, never mind, it should be good for my blood sugars.

Stay safe all and if possible stay dry, better get blowing up those party balloons @dunelm
