What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a below zero temperature here in the dark and dangerous north. Reports are in about planes grounded and journeys dangerous to take in all this snow but to date, our tranche has still to be delivered. Bit like winter fuel payments then - talk about leveling up! Today is mainly about getting all the preparations done in a timely fashion and ready for the 8am game of “Phone That Number”. Why my GP tells me to come back for a review when it would be easier to build a glider, in secret, in the attic and somehow launch it without removing the roof. Art bit - bare outlines of the next big thing. Have the very best day that you can possibly have, I have decided that the promised 4deg rise in temperature by 1pm is to be celebrated by getting the deck chairs out or at least hanging out the washing Mrs Siegfried. Koffy - must have koffy before the 8am deadline.

I woke up the morning, with the words worked out. It was very simple. Two basic essential facts, and then I'm still here 20 odd years later. I do have the fault of giving long winded explanations, I just cannot shorten them. So, the essentials, and then I will be led on what it asked about it.

I need, for my own sanity, to get that off today. The sword of damacles fom this is freezing my brain and me doing anything. Once I've sent it, I will still be apprehensive. Then when once words, whatever they are, start being exchange in this, then the fear of the sword of damacles will lift and I will be free of that fear.

Now to sort out my other thing and that nurse and surgery this morning. I know I am prepared, but mentally I feel on hold until I get get back home...then hopefully my mind will feel free for my stuff.

YouTube vid this morning from the nighttime TrailCam is...
Ghost cat number 1, at night and what he looks like in the morning...
I call him ghost cat because he is white on the nighttime trail camera.

This is not the one that was on my car roof yesterday. That was ghost cat 3. So, I now have 3 ginger strays, different ginger cats than those earlier in the year.

Creative is autumn, but I haven't really finished it...I have to get ready for the nurse. So this is it for this painting. I have several copies of it at different stages of painting, and I will have another go at it tomorrow. I am out of time here.

Catch you later

Wintry moon breaking through the dark clouds. Wonderful.

Glad you have managed to work out what to say to your daughter. Excellent approach - bare essentials and wait for the response before giving more information. Your daughter will know how much she can cope with at a time.

Best wishes for seeing the nurse today.

Wow! Precipitous pathway there. Looking forward to further developments.

I was wondering about winter fuel payments. My brother was saying it is to be higher this year, but there's no sign of it arriving - not even the usual letter. Had to use my overdraft to buy oil last week and just hope the payment comes sometime soon to help pay that off.

Slept in the blue bedroom last night. So cosy, although the uphill climb to get to the bathroom will take some getting used to.
We, well MrSlim and son2, did level the floor in the master bedroom also known as the green bedroom. By the rather hair raising method of removing some of the little blocks of wood holding it up above the beam it should have been resting on - and then jumping until it settled several inched lower. Thus reducing the slope to minimal. However the unusual construction of the ceiling above the original kitchen, now part of the salon made alterations and insulation impossible without taking it all down. It is constructed of hollow ceramic tile like pieces somehow individually held up by wires. A totally unique way of building a ceiling. MrSlim decided to leave well alone. This has resulted in a bedroom that is warmer because the chimney breast and the ceiling/underfloor both retain heat. The pink bedroom above the previous downstairs bedrooms, which are now part of the salon has a standard fairly level wooden floor insulated above a plasterboard ceiling. It appears as if no heat gets through as this is the coldest room in the house.
Are any of you interested in all this?
@gennepher best wishes for you today.

Thank you @Annb. Yes, perilous times when it comes to fuel bills. We luckily purchased a couple of cubic metres of compressed heat logs and half a ton of briquettes before the weather turned and the prices jumped.

Sounds like you may have a drop ceiling. Only way to tell is to lift a floor board or two and have a look. It may be possible to pack the joists with ply or wedges to level the floor - do you know what the slope is?

FBG 12.1 - same as last night.

Well, I am interested. I've seen images of these tiled ceilings but I never realised they were held up by wires. Makes renovation very difficult, I can see. As long as the ceiling/floor stay in place, I would think the best idea is to leave it alone, just as you have done.

This may be a repetition because I was in the middle of keying it in when it disappeared completely and I can't find it on the thread anywhere. Anyway:

FBG 12.1 - the same as last night.

Very cold here - supposedly only -1, but here in this little hollow it feels a lot colder. Em has just gone to school, walking very carefully on the road which was like a skating rink. No snow laying on the ground, but plenty of ice. Huge difference between the temperature here in the kitchen and in the hallway/rest of the house. That's due to the little convection heater that I have on - probably pushing the electricity bill up, but I can't bring Em in to a cold kitchen. It will go off for a while now but will go on again before my visitor arrives.

Whilst good morning is the Norm (little chap, always wears a trilby) it may not be appropriate for everyone so insert your own salutation. Bright, cold and heavy on the heating bills here but unlike a few my WFP arrived in timely fashion and has been squirreled away for possible use on making the heating system more effective. Alexa will insist on playing should I stay or should I go? and the *'d. JKP bullied - can't really describe it any other way - B Gas into completely restoring MIL's heating today not by their definition of urgent. @dunelm best wishes for that glider and appointment. Thanks for sharing the first steps on your next journey of a thousand Li - must find my Little Red Book. @gennepher I'm glad you have two plans for those two problems. Thanks for sharing the creative which is like this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-63859184. a bright ray of light and a glance of better things. Today's poem https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/blog/. I'd take Linda Richardson's advice and look again at your creative. @lindisfel not too many hill climbs in this weather. @Annb hug for the cold and missing WFP but winner for the making with EM. @SlimLizzy along with others I'm interested so thanks. Thoughts and prayers for those in anyway involved in the tragedies in Jersey and the West Midlands. We may be orf to deliver Christmas cards to The Old Country. Along with Christmas crackers I think cards are well past their sell by date - JKP begs to differ so guess who wins? I'm still holding the line for no photos or pictures on walls but the force is strong with that lady. The US meedja seem to be very perceptive (see attached) but Mr Gove has taken a whole tub of umbridge. "They" do say the truth hurts and he may have "issues" of his own https://www.theguardian.com/politic...ries-over-800bn-post-brexit-trade-deals-claim . Another very apt poem, Ian. Been there - wondering if it was all worth the effort, but that mood never lasts. Don't need Christmas bells to brighten my mood - just knowing that I am lucky to have the blessings I have.

Saw an article last night about that young leukaemia patient and hopes for others with the treatment she has received. Yes, there is brightness around and needs to be appreciated when you find it - despite the heartbreaking events that keep happening, like those in Jersey and the W Midlands.

"Baby, it's Colditz outside"...as they used to sing.

That extract from Tennyson has a more upbeat counterpart on January 1st - another chink of light through the cracks. Does Em come in after school?

Yes - before school and after, most days. Then she comes again on a Saturday or Sunday, if she can. Must be the ice creams she knows I keep in the freezer for her. No - seriously, she's a lovely and loving child and she likes to visit her gran. As a grandparent I can give her more time than her overworked parents can, although they do make sure to have a family evening at least every Friday and time on a Sunday when all their family living on the Island come together, That is Em's elder sister, husband and 3 children. There is another son and wife, but they live in Kirkaldy.

Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and all who are late on parade, my excuse was I was doing stuff.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.9 .

This afternoon I have a hospital diabetic telephone appointment, this should be interesting as I already know my A1c and average fasting blood sugars since 26 May till 7 Dec 22 were 5.62 .
These appointments are usually with a hospital consultant because of the complexity of my drug regime. This coming Wednesday I will have the same thing with the GP’s, who are totally inexperienced in dealing with diabetic patients with my conditions, I have adopted a policy of smiling sweetly and ignoring them, but we shall wait and see.

It feels slightly warmer today, but it’s still to cold to be working out side and the list of tasks is still growing. Never mind.

Stay safe, stay warm and I wonder if you fellow posters remember the governments advice during the last big drought, save water bath with a friend.

Save heating the water, bath with ...
Long time since I shared a bath and there's nobody left now that I would care to share with.

Didn't Johnson change that this govt to " bath with a fiend" to add to the 'numbers piling high '...?

Every little helps, so they say.
