A win for attitude.Glad you liked the cartoon and good news on the meds. Thanks for asking after the gels who seem to be fine. Must be my tea and toast round in the mornings and feeding MIL protein puddings. Monday and Tuesday next week are quite key check points for me. Intimate camera work Monday then ct scan Tuesday. Monday's feedback is instant. Tuesday needs analysis. To round off a fun week Thursday is infusion day across the sinking fen roads in the RR, proper old school 4wd. Take it easy - Jackson Browne's version is the best, imho.
Pretty good at uprooting medium sized trees as well. Provided one has measured the chain carefully. Probably not much call for that from the yummy mummy - alternatives are available post watershed - crowd. Tarquin and Jocasta should be in bed by then if the au pair/live in nanny is up to scratch so no need to explain. At least I'll know yours is the real deal, & you won't be ...

Ah, but as an ole fen boy you know “as the days get longer the cold grows stronger” Winter draws on - harvest festivals with goose fat under brown paper on the chest for a few weeks yet.Much lighter tonight after a sunny quiet day but freezing hard again, however the days are getting longer again and I hope to hear the song of spring once more.....the Willow Warbler at the start of April.

So sorry to read your post @jjraak. You sound distinctly uncomfortable even without hurting your leg even more. At least, it seems, there is some improvement there despite what you have been doing to it when bed-making. Do take care of yourself so that glass remains at least half full.Afternoon.
Been awake from early doors.
Nods of approval, concern & giggles from Lauren.
Meds, coughing fits & doing my wolf of wall st impression
...BG 7.1...not too bad
Another nights sleep broken by a hacking cough though.
Discovered there's a colour chart for phlegm....but it's not from Bristol,
Though the way it's making me feel, maybe it should be..lol.
Green means bacterial or viral.
My guess is heavy cold/mild flu .
(If the flu jab can reduce symptoms enough...?)
Laurens suggests calling docs for antibiotics...mmhh
Do think the worst of it was yesterday...I hope.
So may hang back until tomorrow before bothering doctors.
gyms been off limits last few days, obv ...
And throats sore so eating has been uncomfortable .
Otherwise all good.
I think leg is still showing improvements.
Placing direct pressure on it, taught me NOT to place direct pressure on it ..ouchie, ouchie
Was more ..screamy screamy
Changing bedding other day, & I forgot and knelt on the bed.
Committed & off balance I landed on bad knee...and it felt ok .
A tad tender, but even that minimal pressure would have had me climbing off most ungracefully to avoid the pain previously.
And while a forward/backward motion is 'comfortable'
Any sideways movement isn't, but I am working on that and seeing some slight improvement.
So a 50/50 day I reckon.
That glass is STILL half full...
Ps .no snow here, but window inside car was iced yesterday...bbrr.
Ah, my badAhh @jjraak many thanks for the break down on rotating pictures, on my telephonic communicator and my iprad tablet the pictures display as they should, in this program, to use an old term, because I is old, the pictures rotate themselves and I cannot find a way to rotate them only in this program. This I feel is down to my incompetence or is it incontinence or perhaps both.
Glad to read you are making slow and steady progress, perhaps in the future we could meet up on the motorcycles for a koffy and vegan bacon sarnie while comparing scars hehehehe.
Again many thanks to all and good luck for those undergoing medical procedures especially that old tub thumping @ianpspurs
Think it was high flying as it appears to have gone over the house. But at least it was night so nobody about. And it missed the carGlad to hear nobody was harmed by low flying corrugated iron but sorry that you will have to fork out to replace it. Materials are so expensive. Tell Mr Slim to be careful, especially in the bad weather, when clambering around to fix things.
Thanks muchly for the tag in on this issue @jjraak ,Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those who have problems in waking up and also getting up.
Blood sugars the last few days were 7.0, 5.6 and this Morening was 5.0 two prime numbers, oh whoopy.
Me, me’s and myself finally managed to get out of my pit early enough to get some sadly lacking morning plinky plonky done, then breakfast only to be told by Mrs J that I must accompany her to a different supermarket in a different area of Reading, that was my plans for the morning destroyed.
Luckily, well nearly luckily this supermarket has a café and I managed to get banished to this koffy shop, the koffy was half the price of koffy at the usual supermarket and half the quality, but warm and wet.
Hopefully attached will be one of Mrs J’s paint by numbers pictures of a cat. Again it will need rotating a skill I cannot master.
Stay safe and warm all. View attachment 58806
When we first came here in 1966 there was an old Cumbrian couple in the next house down the road. We had been away and both of us got flu and very kindly the old lady next door brought us a big jamjar of goose fat to rub on.Ah, but as an ole fen boy you know “as the days get longer the cold grows stronger” Winter draws on - harvest festivals with goose fat under brown paper on the chest for a few weeks yet.
Hope you feel a lot better very soon.Took extra painkillers last night to last through as much of the night as possible so actually managed to sleep until about 4.15 am. Throat still painful and mouth/eyes/chest very dry. FBG was only 6.8 though. So that's good. Trying coconut milk today as an alternative to water - may also try some fruit or herbal tea, if I can drink anything hot later on. The coconut milk by itself is fine, but I don't fancy it in a hot drink somehow.
Hope that you are over the worst of it, and that you won't need to see the doctor.Afternoon.

This cyber attack on Royal Mail is causing lots of problems and disruption. I am waiting/needing for it to be resolved...18.01
8.40am FBG 5.0
Snow! Not a vast amount, enough to cover everything and look pretty. The birds are keen for their crumbs, but unfortunately Kiki noticed the robin and was very excited about it from the other side of the glass. Errant used to ignore birds. Having been disabled for years he had learnt they were uncatchable. Kiki being young and agile might manage to get one. But we hope not.
Meanwhile am planning to use the slow cooker today. The oven parts got caught up in a cyber attack on Royal Mail and were returned to sender. Along with millions of other parcels. We might get them by the end of the week. Fingers crossed. If the snow does not get too bad we need to go to a nearby town to buy and collect a kitchen sink. I'm not sure MrSlim thinks it's a good idea, but at present we have no draining board and the new to us sink includes one. Solving one problem and creating another. How to fit a considerably wider piece into the units. Bit of forgery required no doubt, but at €15 it's not expensive.
@gennepher when I had dry eyes used some kind of artificial tears, but your problem sounds much more severe. You are amazing. Your courage and cheerfulness despite multiple health issues are inspiring.
Thank you for your ideas on this. The GP was right - it is beginning to get a bit better, so the stuff must be getting out of my system. I will take up some of your suggestions though, because I do have a persistent problem with dryness (eyes/mouth/throat as well as skin and lungs). Most of the products I have seen are "sugar free" which means they contain artificial sweeteners which I can't take but I will try to get hold of ones which are not sugar free and just put up with the inevitable BG rise.@Annb
Here's what I said I would send you.
I have dry mouth and dry eyes etc. And secondary Sjogren's Syndrome was diagnosed in 1999 by the dental hospital after a lip biopsy and the fact I had rheumatoid arthritis. The dental hospital wanted to prescribe Pilocarpine to help with all the dryness - eyes, mouth, throat etc, but after discussion it was decided it could adversely affect my asthma and I chose not to take it.
So, the dental hospital prescribed -
Salivix pastilles, to suck.
BioXtra gel, to apply inside your mouth (there are other dry mouth gels).
And a particular oral mouth spray, which is not available anymore, but there are plenty of other mouth sprays on the market which you can buy on Amazon. That mouth spray was my saviour at the time, because of the oesaphageal dysmotility (which was diagnosed a few years later) which caused my throat to seize up especially when it was dry. The specialist who diagnosed the oesophageal dysmotility explained but when my throat seizes up because of dryness, this was why my airway passage also seized up because they were in such close proximity, causing breathing problems. And so I always had that throat spray immediately to hand for when that happened.
It was in mid 2000's I was diagnosed with oesophageal dysmotility after having an endoscopy (which also found a hiatal hernia). I was prescribed Coracten XL by the specialist for the oesophageal dysmotility. But I stopped taking that because I didn't think it helped (and I didn't like the contraindications).
I still have the Salivix pastilles, and the BioXtra gel.
An American friend who has Sjogren's with dry mouth etc explained what she used. But it was only available in America at that time. However some years later I found I could get hold of it on Amazon. It is something called XyliMelts. It is not cheap. But whereas before, especially during the night I would suck a Salivix pastille or a cough sweet (that helped my dry mouth) all night (but neither are safe options because I could choke in my sleep, but I never did), I now have a XyliMelt in my mouth all night. It suggests you stick (with a bit of saliva or water) the little XyliMelt to the side of your tooth or your gum. It is a much safer option than sucking a pastlle or sweet all night. Unless I suck something to stimulate my saliva, I cannot sleep at night because of the dryness.
In the daytime I will chew xylitol chewing gum, which also stimulates my saliva. I get these off Amazon. There are some hard sweets which have xylitol in them, but I have never tried those.
I don't know if any of this is any help to you, but for me the XyliMelts will be worth a try if you can afford them. I have brought more mouthsprays for dry mouth off Amazon, I can't remember which ones now, when my prescription one was discontinued. These were a godsend to me, until I discovered xylitol. If my mouth is getting too dry, I always have the xylitol chewing gum with me, and just by biting into them and chewing them for a minute so, if I don't want to keep on chewing at that point of time, they still stimulate the saliva in my mouth and get it going again.
The dental hospital referred me to the eye hospital in 1999, where they have kept a close eye on me because of my very dry eyes due to Sjögren's. Two meds from them - a Vaseline type eye stuff in a tube for nighttime, and a more liquidy eye drop for day time. Both should be preservative free. Any eye drops should be preservative free.
In this country, UK, there seems to be a lot of eyedrops which are not preservative free. And those preservatives can cause further dry eye problems, and can damage your cornea etc. Often, if you see a set of capitals then that will be the abbreviation of the preservative.
