Great detail. Bringing it to life....Good morning everyone on a day that promises to be a little warmer than yesterday here in the dark and dangerous north. Wonder how many layers that means? Another birthday appeared yesterday - great nephew became one year old so a good excuse for grown ups to meet at local Rugby club - bring a child or just claim one. Grandparents and Great Grandparents get a free pass for starting all this mess in the first place. Great occasion for a catch up but hope I don’t catch anything else with so many people wanting to hug despite the full PPE with matching hat and gloves. A barge pole would have been more useful. Still, the inclusion of a curry (no rice please) was very pleasant amid the usual high carb alternatives and just how quickly can you peel a pork pie? Nice video catch up with one of my brothers once we got home. He lives in a place called Valkenberg which is in Limburg, Netherlands but we get to see each other virtually. Art bit, started adding some detail but didn’t get much done. Have a smashing day if you can, I am under strict orders to wake Mrs Miggins at the precise time of 0918 - weirdo. Now, where is that cafetière.

MrSlim insists on turning off the water when we go away. I suppose it's a wise precaution, but I use clumping, flushable, biodegradable litter and her litter tray is right next to the toilet. So it's a very simple job indeed if tackled regularly. Morning and evening. This type of litter seems to do a good job of controlling odour as well. .Never a nice job, but a litter tray liner makes it a bit more pleasant ....mmhh
Thank you @gennepherGreat detail. Bringing it to life....
Not all dogs are equal. Siberian and Alaskan Huskies must have hardy pads!Smashing dog care - some people drag their dogs out in extreme temperatures and cause havoc with pads on feet.
I imagine St Bernards and Newfoundlands are equally hardy but the 2 that we know would much rather stay indoors, preferably snuggled up on someone's bed, for as much of the day/night as possible. The pups haven't been allowed outside yet - they are coming up on 8 weeks old.Not all dogs are equal. Siberian and Alaskan Huskies must have hardy pads!

I deleted one Ann and haven't added any since the 10.41 one you kindly rated like. Curiouser and curiouser. There's something odd going on with the forum - has anyone else found that some posts are not showing up? I get notices that there are more posts and do I want to see them, I click to let them be shown and nothing happens. I just had an e-mail about a post from Ian which isn't showing up on the thread either.
I get oddities from time to time when I try to post it won't let me, if I persist I lose what I wrote. There's something odd going on with the forum - has anyone else found that some posts are not showing up? The guy from church who helped getting our food during the pandemic and transporting me to hospital has a daughter in the Hague. He went over at Christmas because they are grand parents of very recent twins.Good morning everyone on a day that promises to be a little warmer than yesterday here in the dark and dangerous north. I once had to look in a house over the Christmas period when the owners were away. And one morning when I went in the water was pouring through the ceilings the ceiling had collapsed and it was the water tank in the attic that had a burst or something. All I could do was turn the water off (with the aid of an umbrella to keep me dry), but they hadn't left any contact details so there was nothing I could do about it until they came back home....MrSlim insists on turning off the water when we go away. Now that Kiki is spending more time outside there is far less need for cleaning her toilet.
I will have to provide bags for when we are away.
I get exactly the same!!!I get oddities from time to time when I try to post it won't let me, if I persist I lose what I wrote.

Ah well - that explains that one. Doesn't explain the others though.I deleted one Ann and haven't added any since the 10.41 one you kindly rated like. Curiouser and curiouser.
One very bad winter - probably about 30+ years ago, Neil was living in a rented house about half a mile from us. He had just broken up with his girl friend and she had left (his Crohn's disease was just getting going and he wasn't the easiest person to live with, I guess). I called in to find him looking pretty much at death's door, the house in a mess and him just prostrate on his bed. So, what does a mum do? I ordered him out to the car, locked up and took him home. Didn't occur to me that being cold as it was, it might freeze. A few days later, I went back to get some things for him to find the whole ground sheathed in ice - water frozen from what had overflowed from the house. The water tank (which has to be said was in a ridiculously exposed but inaccessible place) had burst a pipe, brought down the kitchen ceiling and flooded the whole house! What a job to just get the water out, then to sort out the debris, then to get the ceiling repaired. I had just never thought to turn the water off. I know better now.I once had to look in a house over the Christmas period when the owners were away. It does seem like that. My brother has lived in the Netherlands for a very long time and speaks two provincial languages (North Holland Dutch and Limburgish). He used to make bespoke Harley Davidsons and lived in North Holland (The Hague is in South Holland) - both provinces even though we Brits say Holland for all of it. They sorted bicycle lanes out years ago as well as flooding - why we don’t get their flood engineers over here to sort that bit out is beyond me.The guy from church who helped getting our food during the pandemic and transporting me to hospital has a daughter in the Hague. He went over at Christmas because they are grand parents of very recent twins.
From what he told me about Holland, Boy this country is backward in comparison!
We'll soon be a third class country run by a corrupt oligarchy.

It's expensive but one has to leave the heating on in winter.I once had to look in a house over the Christmas period when the owners were away. Poor dogs. They are probably the same people who take their dogs out at midday in a heatwave.Smashing dog care - some people drag their dogs out in extreme temperatures and cause havoc with pads on feet.
