What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

We have several hundred snowdrops in both our front and back gardens and now in the front a host of yellow crocuses.

This is only our second season in this house so we are marking where things are still coming up in order to move them as there will be some changes this year. All the roses were moved last year and some shrubs given haircuts. We have two ginkgo biloba trees in pots that will go into the ground this year - we brought them with us when we moved.

Good morning everyone from what just might be another sunny day here in the dark and dangerous north. Book sorting. That’s the phrase that may or may not describe today’s activities. Two boxes of books have been brought into the dining room and placed upon the table “for you to sort out”. I did of course open said boxes and have a peek inside. Treasures. This will take some time but that copy of The Catcher In The Rye is going to need another home. I shall spread them out first so that they don’t cause any trouble or wander off. Lots of books crowded together can be dangerous. Art bit, just some coloring in to do now, probably this afternoon. Have a smashing day if you can. Say ‘champion’ when something nice happens. It’s pronounced ‘champ-yin’ and you will need a flat cap. Now, where’s my koffy.

9.25am FBG 6.3 ( blaming overindulgence in Valentine chocs for that)
My mother has covid. Spoke to her early sunday evening when she sounded very frail, but said she was merely very tired with a bit of a cough. I was not surprised to hear that she had been very unwell in the night. Calling both my sister and the paramedics who gave her oxygen and wanted to take her to hospital. However the paramedics eventually decided that Mum had improved significantly and should stay home so long as she was not left alone. My sister has stopped with her for two days and my brother is going to be there tonight. I have been told very emphatically by my sister that my presence is not neccessary. Am wondering if she thinks MrSlim and I brought the infection? Despite us having recent boosters and no symptons. I suppose we were careless in that we didn't test before visiting her. Yesterday was Mums 91st birthday, but of course the celebratory lunch had to be cancelled.
Mum did sound better yesterday, but there are too many parallels with my Fathers situation last year for me to be reassured that she really is recovering. Daily phone calls don't seem enough.

Has returned to the Rebel Alliance and become a tax payer once more .

A phased return, admittedly (thank goodness ) and very welcomes, as I was cream crackered at the end of yesterday.

Going to have to work on that stamina .

And in a week mentally designated as LIFE 2: The RESURRECTION.

I gingerly rode the surviving scooter across town for its MOT.
(Intention was if it failed as expected, to SORN & leave off road at a friend's garage nearby )

The expected failure (head bearings) appear to have been a more fixable, ( by me anyway ) uneven wear of a perfectly good tyre (sat for a year unmoved )
Potentially it may even out if ridden more regularly..

So getting away with just rear brake pads was a BONUS.

Clutching a new MOT certificate and now taxed & legal once more I proceeded to try and enjoy the return trip.

Can't say that part was so successful.

The extra wariness post accident clouded the pleasures I took from riding previously, but it did have enjoyment of the ride, was safely undertaken, with no close calls or scares of any sort.

A challenge undertaken
AND I'm calling that a WIN, for not being beaten by it.

So I feel I'm finally out of the woods, leaving the trees & bushes behind me.

Taking my bearings now, as I look across the wide open plains once more, and set out to find my own path back.

I realise I am no longer lost.

I'm BACK...

Morning each from a sunny area which defies any suitable description except the counterfactual. There will be trouble ahead, well light rain showers and sibling rivalry over what to watch on the main TV. No 1 grandson is on a tight (ish) leash after parents evening and what goes on tour mustn't stay on tour. Thanks for the splendid and very realistic sheep and cats @gennepher. @dunelm what percentage of books retained will not incur the wrath of she who must be obeyed? Many thanks for sharing the splendid art which will obviously be miraculously transformed to even greater majesty and grandeur by the addition of colour. Snowdrops and crocuses make me "homesick" - I don't have the motivation to make water flow up hill here anymore. @Annb hope you managed to procure an appointment today. Deal with the snakes and ladders of Wednesday with as much dignity and love as you can. How many of you are actually Team Jorge?

We are hoping for the best and that the op works out ok.
It is problematic, they apparently can't use the usual tools that employ radio frequency cauterisation due to the proximity of a pacemaker.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. @JohnEGreen c'mon fella celebrate all small wins. Claudia Winkleman isn't usually my kinda person but her small wins section gives one pause as they - who exactly? - say. Frozen mashed potato with president butter added is very tasty. Something I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd type. There's probably an Ocado just for you as well - -20% and free delivery for 3 months to tempt you back or not - we're very promiscuous with deliveries of basics. They deliver Harrods merch as well - probably to N Norfolk and the DnDN

Em stayed the night, since her school is on its half term break. Went to bed early for me, bit late for her and she fell asleep almost immediately. So did I, but I woke again around 1 am and had to get up to ease the back and knees. As a result there was no meaningful FBG. Yesterday was a bad day and, while BG is a pretty normal level (7.5) I am feeling pretty dodgy. Vegetables eaten yesterday are tormenting my insides - that has been an issue recently so I went a few days without veg to calm it down and then tried again - same result. I really don't get on with veggies. Trouble is, that leaves me just with carnivorous foods and dairy. It is a bit of a problem but I'm sure that there is an answer somewhere. Don't suppose there is any point saying to the dietician that I can't eat veggies - she'll have a fit, poor soul. Bad enough no fruit and few carbs. Where will I get my fibre, she'll ask (I think fibre is the problem, in fact). Where the vitamins, where the minerals? In a bottle, I suspect. Wouldn't mind not bothering with veg, although there are some that I like and even enjoy, but just meat, cheese and eggs? If needs must, I suppose...
 
Can't work that one out, jraak. Is there a solution to the puzzle? Must ask one of the drivers in the family in case I am too out of date.
