What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I found that with some labels

Solution that worked best for me was taking a pic on mobile phone & enlarging print once snapped .
Ah - technology. I don't have a mobile phone any more. I do have an Amazon Fire Tablet which does have a camera, but I don't know how to get pictures from it onto my laptop. I do have a Neil though and his eyes are better than mine. Must ask him to check for me.

Thanks Ian...you and your minarets!!!!

Have your kind of good day.

Fire tablets usually have a poor camera resolution....however that's not to say it won't work.

And version dependent, you can zoom pic on tablet for clearer vision

On mine it's 2 fingers on screen, then spread fingers apart, that controls the expansion & contraction of snaps .

Can you take a photo of the ingredients on the vitamin B bottle and then, and I'm presuming you don't have a phone camera so you could take it on your laptop and then enlarge the picture and then you should be able to read it
Another way of reading them is to Google online the actual bottle, and find a manufacturer list of ingredients list that way.

By the way, I upped my Vitamin B intake slightly.
And I am noticing a difference for the good on several things.
I have been looking at loads of YouTube videos on it, and how the different B vitamins help different things.

Now, my left thumb is locked, trigger thumb/finger. It has been like this for a few years. I did all the usual advice at the time, but it finally locked in one position.
It is now moving very slightly. And very slightly bending.
One video I watched, actually I watched a series of videos from this guy on Vit B vitamins, said one of the vitamin B vitamins could help with locked/trigger finger syndrome. I can't remember which one. I did take a screenshot but it had gone on to the next section of words...
I need to look for it again, just get that B vitamin, and add that for a few days or weeks, and see what happens.
I think it was B6. I also have carpal tunnel syndrome (I was prescribed splints for that, and was told an operation was the next option), and apparently it can help with that as well...

The guy I watched was this...

Edit...a bit extra...
Pre lockdowns I used to go round different health food shops, but lockdowns came and I couldn't do that any more. So when things ran out, I stopped taking them. I didn't have a credit card at the time to order things online, and I wasn't going to put my bank card details in anything then. I had never shopped onlinebefore 2020. I will have to say now that I've got my card I am now a very enthusiastic shopper online....

Now the health food shops that I used to go to have pretty much all closed down. They couldn't survive the lockdown and the current energy crisis.
So I remembered I used to buy this from the health food shops. It was on Amazon and I have just ordered it. And I used to sprinkle on my food all the time, or put a bit in sauces, so I assume I was getting my extra B vitamins I needed that way. But I didn't know that at the time.

That all sounds very positive and good news. Have you tweaked diet or taken supplements to up the B vitamin intake?

My diabetes nurse told me that at my age my BG should be kept at 8 or 9. Lower can cause problems for my heart. I just tried to check that and the only references to age and diabetes management that I can find indicate that most people over 65 are liable to have hypos so it is considered safer to keep BG a bit higher than for someone below 65. I do have occasional hypos, but I can feel them coming on and can take action to fix it. So I don't see why I should have to keep BG higher than 7.

At present, it is higher than 7, and has been for about 3 days and see what I found on one website (https://www.verywellhealth.com/elde...toc-target-blood-sugar-levels-in-older-adults):

Symptoms of hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) include:

  • Shakiness, nervousness, or anxiety
  • Sweating and chills
  • Irritability
  • Confusion
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Blurred vision
  • Headaches
  • Clumsiness
  • Seizures
My highlighting.

I have been complaining of 6 of these 11 symptoms. Not that that is a definitive answer, or proof. But it is suspicious.

I have just added a vit B supplement - Neil has read the label for me and it doesn't appear to contain anything that I know I can't tolerate - lots of chemicals I don't know of, but that's not unusual either.

I have just added an edit on to this post which explains the yeast flakes I have just ordered.

Yes, I have tweaked the vitamin B's

Now with eggs, I cannot always get them, and prior to lockdowns I had them every day. But lockdowns and recent shopping stuff means again there is a shortage of eggs. And I am making an assumption now that when I can't have my eggs, then I am going to be depleted in those B vitamins.

I need a spreadsheet to track all this and when to add extra of whatever B vitamin ....

Oh, are eggs still in short supply elsewhere, I thought that was sorted now I'm seeing loads in-store again ?

Thanks and I just saw the edit. Shame about eggs being hard to obtain locally. The attached are screenshots of how the app I use - Cronomter - analyses the B vits as well as others. It also deals with carbs, cals, protein etc. Imho easier than spreadsheet and will store foods and recipes frequently used. Also breaks down how each food contributes to nutes/vits/carbs. You may or may not find it useful. I know several members use it.

For us - it's just another one of those Island things. People here used to keep hens - and we used to sell free range eggs, but most hens here were truly free ranging, housed in general purpose barns or sheds. That all ended when the bird flu restrictions came in so we have to depend on supplies from the mainland and, as we have discovered, those are not always reliable.

There might be loads of eggs where you live, there are not loads of eggs here. Shops have been empty and I've been asking when are the eggs are due, and so I found one with due on a Tuesday. And so it's always waiting for the delivery...
Hard work hunting for eggs.
Lidl had some, and I thought great. But it was only one box per customer. They are not even going to last me the week.
So, petrol, driving, searching, expenditure of my energy and so on...no wonder I nap for the rest of the day when I get home.

Oh Gennepher, at least I have Neil to do the searching for me. When I was young (1950's), my mother used to buy "fresh" eggs from David Greig's in Canterbury. They had come all the way from China so I don't know how fresh they really were. Where do eggs come from now, I wonder. I know many of the packs we get are British, but do other countries export eggs to the UK?

When you do get them, the extra energy and petrol must make them very expensive eggs. Best keep your B vits supported with supplements if eggs, in any quantity, are out.

We have loads of eggs - get ours from the butcher, I know! He get’s them from a local free range farm just outside town but tells me that they have been restricted to the barns lately due to avian flue.

@jjraak absolutely no need to apologise for your post (nor @ianpspurs). I have also followed the Harry Dunn case as it also struck home for me. I don't mind being reminded of what happened as I never want to forget my sister.

It also reminds me of the kindness of our friends and my work mates. My boss insisted that I came into work. Not to work but because he did not want me on my own at home when Mr K was at work. He thought that it was much better for me to just sit with work colleagues and drink coffee rather than sit at home. I also remember the way the young policeman who attended the scene was affected and how determined he was to bring the culprit to justice.
