What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Pity it's only one way.

Still, knowing you can cause & death and get diplomatic immunity, and whisked out of the country, even if your not a diplomat, is a nice little perk.

Special relationship, they say...mmhh.
That happened to my little sister. The drunk driver worked for an oil company and was immediately whisked back to the USA where there is no extradition for causing death by dangerous driving.

He was the only person who wasn't injured. His girlfriend suffered severe brain damage and my mother was badly injured.

Good morning everyone on a brighter day than previously here in the dark and dangerous north. Yesterday was crab hunting in rock pools, observing a beached seal pup resting up and doing a quiz at the lifeboat centre. Fossilized oysters were found and the film Tintin was watched on the jelly vision. Today - swimming. Not in the sea, at a water park thing with slides and both indoor and outdoor pools. Art bit - in colour. Have as good a Friday as you can manage and for anyone visiting York yesterday, don’t lose those red and white purses. Koffy, time for koffy.

That is heartbreaking @Krystyna23040

I love the colours in this @dunelm

It is like a stained glass window, with the lead round all these pieces of coloured glass. I find it peaceful and soothing and comforting...

There's always time for coffee!

A much too high 9.2 this morning. I was so hungry yesterday and had way too many peanuts, then some mascarpone cheese mixed with inulin and lemon juice. 26g carbs.

Today am only having 10g carbs. Hopefully readings will drop down by tomorrow.

Hello everyone on Good Friday in a sunny but chill in the shade L. A. @dunelm what an action packed day yesterday was and today sounds just as much fun - such blessed children. Thanks for the art which I too took as stained glass. @gennepher thanks for sharing the creative which I absolutely see as a minaret. @Krystyna23040 hugs for the fbg and also for the tragic memories. I deleted a post which prompted @jjraak to refer to the woman in Northants since I was only referring to US military personnel whilst "in action." No grandchildren scheduled here now until the family meal on Monday then four on Tuesday plus (perhaps) another great grandson and two granddaughters for MIL. I trialled some keto wraps yesterday (all good if much softer than normal ones) and had a phone consultation which was as reassuring as possible. Bloods all normal so current regime can continue. Very unwoke wording in a BCP collect today (Have mercy upon all Jews, Turks, Infidels, and Hereticks) but sadly remarkably current in so many ways. Enjoy your day however you decide to spend your time. Some of mine will be spent eating salmon salad, drinking lots of tea since I seem to have a big dose of hay fever, then, later, watching the latest Pilgrimage programme.

So I just wanted to 'thanks' this weekend, to a special lady, who's been there for me, through it all"

Well, my friend, that just what we do here at Cool sounds radio, playing the sounds of 6.1 on your radio.

So next up for you and the lovely Lauren....Ben E King .."

I know it's paddy fields, but it has the air of a stained glass window. Beautiful.

Edit: Sorry - that was repetitive - I posted my reply before I saw that everyobne else thinks it looks like stained glass. Great minds ...

I would have deleted my response too, @ianpspurs but then responses after it then make no sense.

I had understood the connotations you meant.

And I'm afraid the original incident at the time, struck home with me for his family, & in my defence clearly runs deeper now than I thought.

And for all our talk, a family still grieve for a son.

I know we'd both agree, that loss for them is deserving of a small prayer.

@Krystyna23040 .

Apologies for my post stirring up memories of a tragic event.

Glorious....can almost feel the spray in the warmth of the wind as we sail by...

Thanks for sharing

BG at 3.30 am was 12.0! Either my liver is taking the unintentional fast as a spring cleaning opportunity, or it's whatever ails me right now causing havoc. Feeling stronger than yesterday but having to take extra pain killers, still shaky (more trembling than shaking), cold and ringing ears. Haven't got around to checking BP but I suppose I should. Pulse feels nearer to normal, so it's all on the up.

Three days ago I started taking a vit B supplement. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Don't see how it could, unless it has something in it that I can't tolerate. Print on the bottle is too small for me to read, even with glasses and a magnifying glass.

Could be, @Annb ...mmhh

I always envisage our bodies for T2D as a pot...and once we're T2D , it causes it to fill & over flow

Part of our 'treatment' is reducing the amount of carbs we fill that pot with .

Once we manage to reduce the pot so it doesn't overflow.

Next problem is flushing out the excess glucose that been stored over goodness knows how many years.

I think the route out for that flushing is via the liver releasing it ?

Could be wrong, but it makes some sense in my head .

While it's more then likely you have Neil's cold, I am reminded pre DX I used to get moments where I felt very shaky & almost ill.

The remedy back then , badly thought out though it was, was sugar..aka chocolate bar of some sorts.

I then got similar after DX..bgs in the 5/6's...so not immediately BG related but I now think from what I have read , it is the bodies reaction to being forced to run at a 'lower' level of BG then it was used to..

It's been a while since I had one, but I used to eat a bit of cheese or some peanuts to boost myself up rather then chocolate.

One to watch out for maybe .

Thanks jjraak. I wouldn't be surprised if my liver was over-reacting to changes I've been making over the last few months/weeks. It must be very confused. Many years ago a friend, who was a nurse, advised me that the serious headaches I used to get when using a lot of energy must be a result of blood sugar dropping too low. Her advice was to eat some chocolate. Poor Joyce - she gave the best advice she knew. Probably the worst thing I could have done. But I did eat chocolate - not that I had ever really liked it much, just as a kind of medication. Of course, I got to like it. It's a long time now since I had chocolate and I'm back to not wanting it.

Back then, there was no thought in my head about diabetes, or in anyone else's, for another 50+ years. This was just after I had given birth to my 2nd son. I imagine, if I have been diabetic (or even pre-diabetic) since 1969, it's going to take a long time to sort it out. That's if I can sort it out. Worth keeping trying though.
