What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

You must have thought of that bicolour guy playing a pipe who filled the Weser with rats?

There have been numerous mentions of just this issue. Chances of anything like the Icelandic approach .....????
It’s a growing issue and the chances of anything like the Icelandic approach are currently standing at zero. When we elect people to make decisions and there are not penalties for bad ones, what can we expect.

Good morning everyone on what promises to be a pleasant day on the weather front here in the dark and dangerous north. Oh dear - 6.1 this am - home goal! We caught the bus to Whitby yesterday. Takes just over an hour. £2 for Mrs Miggins and free for me because I am a card carrying nuisance. So, fish and chips - what could possibly go wrong? Return journey was interesting. The bus could not go round several of the villages as the recent rain had damaged a big section of road (cracks appearing at the top of a steep bank). Wonder if they were there when we made the outward journey? Whispers of grass cutting on the wind but I think that it may still be too wet. Art bit, plodding along. Hope you find something that gives you a smile in your day. I shall start with some koffy.

Yep, those little landslides/land slips can be pesky @dunelm I encountered one driving down some minor roads in Wales down to Bristol. There were fixed road sign warnings...a few stones tumbled into the road in front of me. Slammed car in reverse, but cars behind me, so I am reversing on the other side of the road...the initial car behind me must have thought I was a madman, and carried on driving forwards...and hey presto, landslide over his car. It mostly just got his bonnet and stopped him going forwards. There were other cars behind that car...

It would be pretty final if there were a landfall from the rocks on your art bit...but I imagine that is a river in the ravine...

Bye, I am here when I have to be there. Will post later...you enjoy that coffee...

Just tried to make an appointment for a GP to phone me about blood results and potential shingles. It's a public holiday. I didn't realise that. They are not open today. In fact, I'm beginning to think what ever is wrong is not shingles - rash should have started to appear by now and it hasn't - just the pain. Also a new pain in my feet - feels a bit like plantar fasciitis. I'm back to my falling apart mode, it seems. Probably need to keep my feet up more.

BG at 1.30 this morning was 8.9 (I had had a low BG alarm at 12.30 and had a cough sweet to bring it up a bit). Been rising since and now stands at 10.9 - after 3 cups of tea. May as well settle down for another sleep now that I can't phone the GP, although I have to be in the land of the living at 10.30 for my Move More class on Zoom so I can't spend too long in that happy state.

Perhaps then, we should try for a benign dictatorship. Unfortunately, I don't think dictators have a good record at maintaining their benign attitude.

6.1 this morning. Am hoping that someone cancels today so I get a bit longer break. A client did ask me once why I sounded so happy when she phoned to cancel a 1:1. Luckily now it's mostly done by texts and they don't pick up the relief I feel.

Duchess watching the women's England X Nigeria it's going to be a hard one to win but our goal keeper is impressive.

I bet Dylan was pleased with his team's match yesterday, Arsenal snatched one from the jaws of defeat there.

I had contact with a friend from Lincoln, yesterday, someone in our class at school had his funeral last week. It was a double funeral his wife died a few days after him.
I think possibly the best way to go when you've been together over 60 years.

Morning all on a pleasant start to the day here. Dry and bright if not too exciting temperature wise. This post may be more error strewn than normal as The Lionesses need advice from both myself and The Duchess. @lindisfel I had previously liked the sound of Dylan but now I know his team I've cooled somewhat Sad news about your school friend and his wife but as you say perhaps for the best. My parents, also married for 60 years, both died on the same day which I always feel is a blessing in all the circumstances. @Annb hug for whatever is causing the pain. @dunelm 6.1 isn't too bad and I'm sure the F and C were divine daahling, divine. Thanks for sharing the art and surely the grass needs to bed in a little longer? Must go, Serena looks to be struggling but do have a good day everyone.

When I got married in 1962 for most it was expected to be for life.
How it soon changed and the world is much less committed and would not be surprised by any Profumo scandal.

No one would expect, particularly white evangelicals in America, to be championing idiot politicians like they are. I know some others who think the man named after a greenhouse gas will be the coming AntiChrist.

This is an interesting analysis of why that group vote for The Donald. I've also read a good analysis that suggests the "enlightened" over played their hand with comments such as Hilary's basket of deplorables. DJT is more* opaque than the AntiChrist imho - he is just a grifter, admittedly on a big scale. (Lionesses are through but so lucky. Need to teach the men how to win penalty shoot outs).
I meant less opaque

Off to Carlisle Hospital this pm taking the Duchess for an appointment.

Hope I can get parked in the disabled park else it will be a walk up the hill and very little room for a tall stiff old man to get in and out an Octavia in the small spaces.
Will work round it as usual.

Hope the travel, parking and appointment go well. Some reading for you while you are waiting or just use the image as a summary. Peace be with you both.

I got my wish. My 12.30pm 1:1 has cancelled. A container lorry had overturned on the A47/A140 roundabout. Luckily it looked like no one was injured. We got by OK at 9.30am but it looks like they are now trying to recover the lorry and it has caused chaos. She has been diverted down a gridlocked country lane and has no idea how to get home.

She was really apologetic but if course it isn't her fault.

It concerns me when I read of their desires there is no concern for the stewardship of the planet in their calculations.
What hope from protecting our grandchildren in reversing the temperature rise on our planet?

6.4 today!
A nice sunny start if not a bit nippy, clouding over and as always on the peninsula windy!
Went to the big city this morning to do some banking. It's been a while since last visit, if it wasn't for the tourists, it would indeed be struggling! Had a walk around and couldn't believe what some of the big high street stores are charging for some items. You need a mortgage for a pair of trainers!
Anyway, after getting to the bank, which is shutting at Christmas and the nearest one is at least a very long journey on a bus. I asked how to continue banking if certain circumstances happens. The bank teller showed me how on my iPhone. I mean, why don't they tell you these things?
A wasted journey, except for a trek t-shirt from a shop called Forbidden Planet, which I browsed for at least half an hour!!!!!
Got back home just in time, to welcome the housing, council, to measure for safety rails on stairs, bathroom, front door, back door. Which will be done in the next two weeks. Quicker than I was expecting.
Chores to do and hopefully have a relax in the garden.
Lionesses were indeed fortunate to get through! Nigeria were the better team, but couldn't find the net!
Penalties are a lottery!
Will need to improve somewhat, it they are going to win it!

Have a magic monday, word of the day is ubiquitous!
