My niece went down the apprentice/uni route some years ago now to do an engineering degree. She was taken on by one of the big engineering firms in England. Having done that she went on to take her AMIMechE and then decided that law was much more interesting so did a further degree and then a PhD in law. It was the apprenticeship which got her on her way though.Keiran tried the apprenticeship route but mnwas getting nowhere that’s when he decided uni and a degree was the better option and that has turned out to be correct.
Hope the holidayers have a wonderful anniversary. The better half is off to Carlisle today because she simply has to have a day spending some money in various shops. I could not stand or walk round for a day so I am counting this one out.
She is not taking the car all the way but leaving it near the main road and catching the bus, so I just have to manage to do my lunch
Abigail's 27th wedding Anniversary today, I hope they enjoy it on Lanzarote and don't drink too much.
Have your best day, I hope all goes well.

It sounds as if you may have lowish insulin response or a tuned up dawn effect in a morning. Or perhaps your body is telling you, "she is starving me, I'll get something out of the long term store today!" @Krystyna23040??An annoying 7.2 this morning. Especially as yesterday I only had 13.5g carbs and did almost 16K steps and BS was brilliant all day.
You make me wonder if the pressure was a bit much with this last set of bandages @Annb7.2 early this morning and down to 6.5 now. That's on 2 cups of tea and a whole lot of painkillers.
Took my bandages off, had my shower and weighed myself. I've not eaten much these last few days - spent much of the time asleep under the influence of full quota of painkillers - never taken up to the limit before but had to this time. Result? I've lost 6lbs. I only weigh myself these days on the day when I can take the bandages off so they their weight doesn't distort the result.
Today is the day when I go back to the nurse to get the next lot of bandages on. I don't think the bandages have caused whatever the problem is with my feet but they certainly make it hurt more. Still a lot of pain, but it eased when the pressure came off as I unwound the bandages this morning. Have to talk to the nurse about that.
Looking forward to watching this sketch develop @dunelmGood morning everyone on what looks like it may be a smashing day for a whole variety of reasons in the dark and dangerous north. 5.2 this am. Decided to take the car into town yesterday which meant I could walk down the cliff steps to the prom and spend time with the grandchildren. Even managed to walk back up the steps. A bit of shopping and then home by which time everyone had walked back. Paddling pool out in the afternoon, fun and japes. They are all off to a petting zoo today - so a smashing day for them and a smashing day for me. Art bit, another starter. Hope the sun shines for you today and all the best for A level results and anniversaries. I now need some koffy.

am glad that I went to watch my local team win last night, not only because they won, but I managed a bit of respite and a bit of socialising with some friends and colleagues, plus one of my grandsons, came over to see me.
Clear skies over the coast, maybe some stargazing after the footie!
A winner for your perseverance and a hug for the 4am reminder. Interesting art so looking forward to reading about what you used.Fbg 6.8
I nearly fell asleep on the swing last night again. It is relaxing to do before I go to bed.
I need a rocking chair indoors.

The fox with the thinner tail is the fox I called Skinny Fox last year. It was very small and underdeveloped last winter. I don't approve of people actively feeding foxes chicken and stuff daily (just my view so don't shoot me). I think they should manage themselves, unless we have a hard frozen winter, and then I agree with some help. But Skinny Fox last year was so thin, ribs sticking out, I just had to lend a hand (I think some of you didn't approve). Skinny Fox always came first thing last year, was terrified of anything, and it was easy to time some fresh meat for him.
The fox he is with is Foxy Loxy. I have no idea if they are siblings, friends or what, but they are a pair together. I think both foxes are males. And he still has a thin tail, but Skinny Fox has really filled out and developed to what he was. Skinny Fox chose to come in my garden, so I lent a helping hand. Was I right or not, that is not a question so please do not answer, I am still on the fence on that one. But my this is my garden, so it's my rules, and I bend them as I see fit.
Just spent an hour on the swing with Midnight watching bluetits, blackbirds, 2 male robins, all the sparrows, and my little dunnock from last winter is now back on her own (presumably after raising a family) and she will probably now stay until spring, like she did last year.
Right - diabetes, I have been very low carb, only in that no processed foods at all allowed. Everything has to be fresh, freshly cooked, not messed and added to at all. So, any carbs are in the vegetables, meat, eggs, nuts etc. The vegetables are usually from my container garden. My blood glucose readings are good. Mine generally hover in the 6's up to 7.1 at times. It has taken me awhile to get there. I have stopped eating out because the last time I did, some of you might remember, it messed with my blood sugar readings horribly for weeks after.
The unintended consequence of the above is that I have lost weight. The last time I mentioned my weight, I said when I lost another stone that I would allow myself to buy those expensive watercolour inks. I just stood on the scales this morning (I do not weigh myself daily, just every now and then) and I have lost that stone. But I am not buying those watercolour inks yet. I feel I haven't tried hard enough even though I have lost that stone. I know you will disagree with me, most likely. I have 3 more stone to lose to reach my target weight. I've changed my goalpost for a reward. I now have to lose all that 3 stone before I can reward myself. And I have promised myself something else - a rocking chair for the front room when I have lost that additional 3 stone. I don't need stage by stage rewards. My reward is watching my birds in my garden in a morning. That is priceless.
And I can fit Jeans from many years ago. And I can fit my wedding dress that J bought me. No, I didn't get married, there wasn't time. J unexpectedly bought me this beautiful cream silk wedding dress and jacket with mother of pearl buttons all down the front on Thursday. How he could always buy a dress that fitted me perfectly, I will never know. He never saw me in it because he died in the early hours (4am) on Sunday morning. I can get in that dress again. This might be one of the reasons I am usually awake before 4 am in a morning. He died in 2009.
What do I eat in a day now? Well yesterday was coffee with fresh cream x2. I love my double cream. Breakfast was around 11am eggs x3 and several slices of bacon and tomatoes I have grown. Lunch (last meal of the day I usually have at 3 pm but I was late yesterday because I was experimenting painting) was 3 lamb chops and peas&tomatoes from my container garden and I had a snacking cucumber (bought from Farmfoods where I got my frozen lamb chops from) with crunchy peanut butter (no added sugar or oils or anything). And I nibbled some of my raspberries and blueberries and another lovely ripe sun kissed tomato I found.
If I eat a biscuit or anything with wheat flour, processed stuff etc in, the whole weight loss thing goes totally down the pan, and my blood sugars rise a lot, and it might take me more than a week or so to get back on track again. It took me a few weeks last time. It is simply not worth it.
Creative - experimenting with different inks, but this post is long enough, I will explain more tomorrow on the inks used etc.
Have a great day.
A cuppa now.

So much in that post. Firstly, thanks for sharing the delightful creative. Hug for your attitude to your garden, your rules. Hug for the link between 4.am waking and the possible reason but winner for openly sharing the wedding dress story. Congratulations on the weight loss especially in light of the how. Enjoy those birds and that rocking chair when you buy it and you will because you are made that way.Fbg 6.8

The generation of my family now in their 50's were all very bright. My brother was also very bright and a high achiever, as are his son and daughter. My two were bright but don't have the drive or ambition and have done little with their intelligence - any more than I did really. When it came to advancement in this world, my 2 were at a disadvantage having parents who were bright enough, but too laid back to push ahead. Both my boys are very clever but are not remotely competitive or ambitious. You have a clever family, Ann.
Some of us just have to make up the field and find it hard work learning the maths needed, which for Electrical Engineering was enough for me. I also worked for 44 years full time apart from the few months after I retired for two months from the Beeb but studied for a new job and got three and eventually went to one I wanted and retired from at sixty.

My hubby surprised me and made me a swing to go under our pagoda. The swing brings me wonderful memories of when I was little, when my late dad made me a swing which was attached to a Bramley apple tree in our allotment. I am finding myself out in the garden a lot, also in the late evenings. We have a fox who has recently had cubs visit and also a tiny mouse that I have seen quite a few times. It all soothes my mental health and I expect I will be "swinging" my troubles away in gale force winds, hail and whatever weather is thrown at me because why not!Fbg 6.8

It is great @Lainie71 when a swing has a roof like mine has (and yours from the sound of it) I am out in all weathers on my swing!
