What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

7.2 at 6.30 am. Late up (for me) because I took some pain killers about midnight, when I went to bed and they kept me asleep for a good 5 hours before I started trying to reposition myself for more sleep (should have known better). Checked my oxygen level and pulse at 6.15 (the gadget does both at the same time) - oxy 8.3 and bpm 94. Not particularly good so I gave up and got up. Both better now (95% and 68 bpm). I only bothered to check because my chest has been feeling a bit tight again and oxy has been in the 80's for the last couple of days. I suppose I should check BP as well, but it's an awful faff and I can't be bothered.
 
Good morning everyone on a damp start to November here in L.A. All Saints day today and as a subtle difference tomorrow is All Souls day. It will be good to remember those who are no longer with us such as Goonergal, Typetoo and Oldvatr to name three - maybe people can add those I don't know. Two days of journeying into Cambs have reinforced my judgement that life there is, was and ever shall be better than here for me. Monday we went to The Graves then shopping. Besides being so much prettier St Ives has Morrisons, Aldi and Waitrose in close proximity as well as a thriving market twice weekly and monthly farmers market. Plus grass actually grows and one can see the rearing of and buy buffalo, ostrich and crocodile from the producers.Yesterday I was excused school pickup here so went with JKP to pickup granduaghter from school and collect The Little Guy ©. He refuses to hold JKP's hand (but walks obediently within holding distance) but he grabbed mine. His "big" sister was keen on cuddles whilst watching Fantastic Mr Fox. Simple things but huge blessings in my context. In and of themselves they have no power to do anything for my cancer but as gifts from God, my but they have some weight. Anyhow, @gennepher thanks for that splendid owl - not called Errol is it? @dunelm thanks for sharing today's and yesterday's art. I hope your Niece's venture goes well. They seem to be very popular. Y'all have a good day and hopefully find your own moments of joy and wonder. Ely Cathedral from side on on a bright autumn day is majestic. :woot:

A niece of ours has recently opened a new and pre-loved childrens clothes shop , Here, if you are interested so we called in yesterday and the grandchildren chose a few items. Art bit, trees and birds - how unusual is that! Hope pinch punch rabbits day brings you good fortune. Koffy time.

I must have expended 5 more spoons than I had, so this am I was knackered and was out of breath when I walked to the chemist at the surgery.
They sent me a text Monday saying my tablets were ready.. which was not true. They didn't even have the five eplerenone I was short of last time plus another 56 they didn't have the others were not made up. Whats happened to this Country of ours?

I had the same type of text on Monday @lindisfel from the chemist saying the owings had come in. So I went to collect with my owing slip, oh we haven't got that they said, but we have...and she proceeded to rummage through the cupboards for the next 10 minutes. Triumphantly she hands me a Ventolin which looked suspiciously like it was owing from a couple of prescriptions ago. What about these two things, daytime eyedrops and dry mouth stuff on my owing slip from last week I said. I don't know anything about those she said and mysteriously disappears.

I hadn't wanted to go out this morning because of my cold but when I got back from this useless trip, I went on the couch and fell asleep, until now, 2:30 pm. Any spoons I had when I got up this morning mysteriously vanished along with the chemist assistant. And whatever spoon I have conjured up in my sleep, is now going to be used searching Amazon for the daytime eyedrops (the most important thing), which will arrive at my doorstep tomorrow. The dry mouth stuff I get is not available on Amazon...

I feel for you Derek. This is soul destroying, using up/sucking up our valuable energy to survive in our old age.

My prescription was not ready last week either, even though the text said it was ready for collection, and I had to sit on the narrow seat on my walker for nearly half hour while it was done (and then there were still owings). So frustrating, and I went back to bed that day too.

We need everything to work properly, and be organised properly.

I saw an elderly man this morning in the post office upset, because the post office lady said this was the last year the dvla would let you pay car tax at the post office. What do I do next year he asked? Pay online he was told. But he didn't have a computer or internet. He was older than me.

One can't do anything on these modern cars without plugging in a computer!

I remember complimenting an engineer in Russelheim about the layout of a mechanism within a door, that needed two hands to assemble into the door. He was one of the design engineers that told me that, a lot of creating engineering and design, is to prevent the owners from fiddling with greasing nipples, tapping plugs and the points! And using a diagnostic computer programme for issues and repairs.

6.8 this damp morning, dry and now windy with storm Ciaran forthcoming.

Usual Wednesday stuff done.
Mrs L disagreed with me again! So under orders it is Thursday, and still last week.
And despite explanation, it is #1 grandchild birthday next week. It isn't it was last week!

Gotta go and prepare our meals while listening to the covid stuff!

Went out to do garden bits, and I didn't bother cos there is a carpet of foliage everywhere.

Round here, although a lot of post offices have closed in the last 20 years, we still have a few, perhaps one in each town, but the villages have their post offices in churches, my local one, next village, is daily run by the lady vicar. Or there is a once weekly post office van that calls at various village/outreach locations in Wales, and also it travels to Cheshire to serve villages there who have lost their post offices.
