Not much new to impress you lot with, my aches have eased to a dreamless night.
Mrs L is firmly ensconced on the lounge suite, couldn't be ***** with saying front room couch, as potato has been mentioned to me on more than one occassion.
So, lots not to do, busy doing nothing, hasta la visita, baby!

I have an angel rememberance.

Still got the bruises from where I suggested replacing ours with a younger model ....
 
Not sure if I mentioned, nurse at my rehab group, spoke of some research that finding a date range that reminds dementia patients of times they remember well helps

Seems the upshot of having music & other reminders present in their daily lives, enhances their abilities to communicate & remember things.

All an awareness I found out about way after mum, sadly.

Had I known better back then, I'd have given that a good old go.

Just thought I'd mention.
 
Music seems to have an amazing effect on people with dementia, helping them to remember the times they associate with the particular song. Songs seem to be more easily remembered than other things.

My father sang all his life (he was a bit of a cross between Bing Crosby and Pavarotti) and loved exercising what was, a very good voice. After his 2nd major stroke, he couldn't speak but he could, and did, sing. Whatever he wanted to say, he sang to us. We couldn't always understand the words but he was trying so hard to communicate. He would sing a string of words, which to us usually didn't make sense, stop, look directly at us and ask, "Well?" It was very strange.
 
Yes, my computer does that and it is so annoying.

Yes, definitely replace it as other bits are bound to break down. We had an 18 year old Zanussi dishwasher that worked perfectly up until the evening it caught fire.

Luckily we had a fire extinguisher and Mr K was able to put out the fire.

When I was taught to wash dishes, maybe free or four years old.......
Because I was the baby.........
My mum was a very good teacher.......
The tools of the artisan, the profession, the health of the family.........And fairy liquid
In a white porcelain sink, wooden draining board, brass taps, and of course pans of hot water on stove, cos of no feed from back boiler to kitchen sink, only to bathroom........
A scrubbing brush, a wire wool scourer, an absorbent real sponge a proper dish cloth, with a tea towel or two and of course genuine elbow grease.........
Now, nearly seventy years later still the chore I do.......
I am the dishwasher........
Why waste money on a machine and the salt and......and...... And you have to wipe the dishes beforehand!!!!!!
Mrs L loves Queen, not her maj........
but Freddy & co.
Mrs L watches a lot of films, that she likes.
The recent films and tributes to both Freddy and Lizzie have all been consumed.....
it is another of my functions to warn her of pending viewings.

I can't remember her singing. Mrs L has said that she will dance at my funeral......
I hope so!

Well amazingly I was down to 171 (9.5) despite not eating the healthiest the past week.

I have been doing everything I can to get 5000 steps in a day so maybe that and the water aerobics is helping. Now if only the number on the scale would start to drop.

Either way I'm happy with some progress!
 
Hope today has been a much better day than yesterday @gennepher. Hope the action you are taking today can sort it.
 
Dementia.
Can you imagine how one feels, I recently found out my b.i.l. and sister inherited three houses and had an estate of circa two million.We only found out because Joan saw what a winsome child our grandson was when my second daughter went to Lincoln when he was young.

He was gifted a small amount which was accompanied by a copy of the estate.

Most must have been gifted to the Borg years before and plenty of it was left to them in their normal will below estate duty.

When I asked Keith, can't you get help for Joan? he said I can't get my hands on any of the money, its all tied up!

You bet it was. Our youngest wanted his models of trains and buses to go to the museum. They were of exceptional quality but the attorney said it all must be sold.....

No wonder xxxxxx has been anti faith all her life.
Certainly since uni.

They gave xxxx the family photos when she asked for them


He could have had an extension built and got her a permanent nurse and she would prabably have out lived his sdvanced prostate cance


When we went she was still at home, was filthy in the bed, that had been repeatedly fouled, she was using a bucket.
He slept in a chair in the Living room

And when Marjorie said, I will clean her up he stopped her.

They had some help from two women neighbours because they were good hearted and only one was given anything when he died.

I was sure he would give most of what he had to the Borg, but he was too well educated to believe the borg. I didn't know what he'd done then,

I said, you know they'll use your money to get their pedos off.
He said, I know, I am not happy about it.

He habitually read the telegraph and knew the reports but was too gutless to do anything about it or too late.

He was bullied by my sister all his married life never did anything she thought he shouldnt

She really loved me when she was demented and rang me up every day from her key pad button Derek, saying I dont know where mum is? I did not say you burnt her when she was suppose to be with dad and only God can put her together again.


I said to Keith you should give your money to cancer and dementia charities,
I never wanted any of it.

He paid forJoan's fees in the home with all the money they got free gratis when xxxx helped them claim her attendance allowance.

He thought he'd done a neat trick.

They even got paracetomol free from the doctor.

He commited her to a horrid home with doctors and the Borg who must have had power of attorney.

She protested when she was put in there in shock apparently and kicked up a fuss.

She did not eat, had no personal effects and later she stopped drinking.

I contacted the manager and asked her was she visited by anyone. She was not.

We went down to Lincoln almost straight away and stayed in a hotel.
and went to see her (she stopped eating six weeks before and had stopped drinking) and knew us both straight away.

She was suffering from a huge bleeding bed sore on her left side. Was at the end of a long corridor. Had no personal effects and only had a picture of some Scottish couple provided by the home.

She insisted we walk her up the long passage to the door and back....she walked faster than I have done for years.

The place was a horrid apology for a home and had a terrible aura and it later closed. I called it Eagle dignitas

We went back the next day before going home.

She must have been drugged and kept going to sleep she refused food and drink and I kissed her and we went home to Cumbria and I contacted Keith on the phone.

She died the next week when she was still not drinking or eating and died alone he just told some former friend next door and he was not there when she died alone

I remember seeing her as a pretty, tall 16 years old big sister holding my dad down with Mum as he fitted up to his death.

I was told to run and play,
I was six, the next month I was seven on the 6th June. .

My mother often put me on the bus and told the clippy to get me off at Bargate to go to my mother's mother to stay.

I have realised what happend because I am planning for my grandsons education ATM and wasn't aware what people did and how they deal with that stuff that jangles in one's pocket and shelter their money.


Money is not of much interest to me but one has to plan with it prudently.

It wasn't even mentioned she had a brother at her funeral.

I can never express what I feel about the lack of compassion she had. What a problem for me if she had survived him in her own home looked after by a nurse.
The Borg would have had a problem from me but their in Gods hands.

She, demented,, completely forgot what she had against me and we were friends again.

I think I mentioned on another thread of in the blogs @lindisfel that my DiL worked in a care home all through the covid and lost only one patient due to old age not covid.
The home was well run and not only looked after those in the home but staff as well.
There are always good and bad.

My eldest brother was born on D Day.
My dad was in Burma! Sailed eight and half months before in 43.
