What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I think that this is very true - which is why doctors should really not be giving people this bad information. @Debandez is doing such a good job at getting the low carb message out there.

Just painting. Thinking about my presentation. Think im going to start with subject of sugar. Maybe a joke to get a giggle, but jokes about white sugar are rare. Jokes about brown sugar, well, demerera!!

Back to the drawing board ;-)

@gennepher this made me feel so angry. Actually incandescent with rage. What terrible behaviour and almost beyond belief that anyone could be so wrong. Well done for having nothing more to do with him.

also i hear exercise can raise your BG's before it starts to lower..in case it was after bike ride
Not a bike ride today, its monsoon season here, Muddy I might be but Drenched is not my cuppa tea.

Good news is eating half a Cauliflower Cheese and bacon only raised my BG by 0.2 and I think there must have been at least 20grams of carbs. Still a lot to learn

Oh and thanks @jjraak for your compliment on my art.

You’ll get there Saskia, you are a very determined person. Well done for not dipping into the savings so far this month. There always seems to be an unexpected bill or repair that needs doing when I’m trying to save.

Lots of good points there JJ especially the one about imagining how we’d be faring if we weren’t monitoring.
I was in hospital for quite a while soon after dx, for an unrelated illness but because my notes said diabetes the HCAs would come and take a bg test at random times in the day. I had no idea then what it should be, but I do remember it was always in double figures - they said it was fine so long as it didn’t go above 16!

That is beautiful your friend is very lucky that you did this for him/her.
Btw I had to go to two stores today and cauliflower in both. I am wondering about growing sprouts for Christmas Day.

It has been hard, but I am now very resolute (to the point of black humour now which shuts people up now).

Hopefully those two nurse friends who were trying to help, questioned a few things afterwards, or were more open to something different.

NHS is failing badly for type 2.

Thank you very much @PenguinMum for the encouragement

Thank you @Krystyna23040 for your supportive words.
I try not to think of him now, but I am still angry I was treated like that.

Yes @Bubbsie I still haven't completely got over that day. But it strengthened my resolve to stick to LCHF.
It does seem ridiculous that we are meant to follow advice that needs increased meds, possible loss of feet, possible loss of eyesight, and problems with internal organs, as though it is predetermined that this is the path Type 2's have to take.

Open to something different but not convinced. Sadly their training and the science that they have studied says different. However they are supportive, always bringing me their latest low carb find in efforts to replace my much loved and missed pasta meals, bless them.

Humour is good, I am old school and think it is OK to make humour about most subjects, although I am now more aware of when it might be considered less PC.

That is one beautiful dog portrait!
You are very talented.
I agree, I am also more creative when down or depressed!

I am absolutely no good with carbs first thing in a morning @jjraak I will spike badly.

But a few hours later I can tolerate some carbs without spiking. But not a slice of bread or anything like that. The carbs have to be part of vegetables or something like that.

Medical training seems to leave medical people stuck in the past when they first learnt. But that is true of a lot of other things too.

There should be refresher courses to keep them up with new studies, new ways of thinking, of opening them up to new possibilities.
