What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you @ianpspurs
I did end up getting several commissions for quite a few school text poetry books from this print/graphic design experience but it paid poorly...
A witch...jumping out of the red...I am a bit limited here, but here is the best I can do...
EDIT: And the witch's cat is there...somewhere...

Thanks. She looks much more friendly than I imagined.

Mmmhh.

"28 Genns Later"....for me.

Hope the drip trip goes well today @ianpspurs

Couldn't get to sleep last night so I got up again at 0130, took some paracetamol and sat in the chair, TV on to try to lull me to sleep. Then Neil came through to have his supper and that woke me up again, so I went back to bed and did manage to sleep until 0500. Libre alarm woke me then and I dragged myself up to find my BG was 4.8, but it did show, on the graph, that it had dipped to 3.8 just seconds before. Came through to the kitchen again and the alarm went off again. It was back down to 3.9. Ignored it and had a cup of tea.

It's leg bandaging day today so this is the day when I take off the old bandages and have a proper shower and weigh myself. They do say that pride comes before a fall.... Last week I was congratulating myself on losing just over a kilo from the previous one. This week I've put it all back on and slightly more.

The snow is thick on the road and fields here. Not absolutely sure we will be able to get out in the car. If we can't get the car out, we can't go. No other way to get there. I imagine that the road will be passable because traffic for the school will have used it by then but it's our entrance that I'm unsure of.

Just had a phone call from the hairdresser I was expecting to come this afternoon. She can't get her car out so has to cancel. She says the schools are closed, so maybe our road won't be in use. Also just had a call from the nurse to ask if I want to cancel my appointment. Neil reckons we should be able to make it. I'm not sure about that, but I didn't cancel because the bandages are alfready off and if they're not replaced my legs will swell up again. It's really just a question of getting out of our entrance and along our village road to the main road - I imagine it will be clear. They haven't bothered gritting our village roads this year. If it carries on this way, they'll have to send the snow plough out. I guess the post won't be delivered again today either. Is this climate change? Or is this just one of those things that happen in winter every so often?

18.01
FBG 5.2 Have fallen of the wagon after Christmas. Far too many chocolates, cakes and biscuits hanging around the house demanding to be eaten. MrSlim has started having a late night snack and always brings me some to share. 4 squares of chocolate some nights, cheese and biscuits others. Either way it has to stop. But he came home with an 800g box of chocolate pralines yesterday - bargain at 34% off! We have had these before and they are delicious.... I ate four.
Strangely all this has not really been reflected in FBG which has continued to be in fives and sixes, normal for me. However during the recent round of blood tests HbA1c was revealed to be slightly higher than at diagnosis at 43. I had managed at one point to get it down to 39. So need to start putting mire thought into food. Says the woman who had two Brazil nuts and the last slice of cake with her coffee for breakfast ...
Snowed this morning. Just briefly but it was very pretty while it lasted.
MrSlims driving license exchange ( sent four months ago) has been derailed for lack of information, but in the meantime he has mislaid the original... panic all round. Much searching of all likely and unlikely places has failed to produce the desired and indeed essential result.
This is a disaster.

Here's hoping your Drip trip journey goes well, Ian and you don't get too cold on the way. Take care on those Fen tracks - hazardous in this weather.

Hug for the lost licence, hope it turns up soon .

It did seem to me, sometimes the FBG after eating the 'wrong' foods isn't linear, and can sometimes mislead us in to thinking "oh, so i can have a little cakes/treat etc "

My theory is pre post check, you'll notice the hit.

But the increase is rather like a few ounces of weight, after we, through our lchf, etc efforts manage to drain some of our inner glucose pot, they do add up.

Those added treats, doesn't initially show next or even days later, but always do.

As with any pot, once it's close to the brim, it just takes a tiny amount to have it topping the edges and running down the sides.

Sure you'll get back on track .

My inner calm, is reminding myself these little treats are a bit of luxury & also a timely reminder we do what we do, so we can have many more years of such occasional treats .

No hair shirts needed on our journeys.

Morning you lovely people.

A lovely sunny day , if very cold, here in the Capital.

Doggie nephew duties today
So a walk later is deffo on the cards.

Marley cat a frequent visitor still.
A few night now he's joined us when Frankie's not here, either lolling all over me purring away or taking to the dogs blanket laid on window ledge .

It's quite a large shelf, with heat from radiator below washing it in warm air....who knew cats snore ....lol

A day of sensible but not too strict eating yesterday.

One roll, ham eggs mayo, was lunch.
2 eggs, 5 skinny bacon rashers, a few mushrooms , fried tomatoes & a spoonful of beans .....& A slice of toast ..was dinner .

Offered up a 8.1 on the carb-O-meter.

I'll take that, thank you very much.

Day 18 of my dry january.

All things pointing in the right direction for febs op .

Stay safe
Stay warm

Best wishes for the trip @ianpspurs

Beautiful day for a longish drive
But a "heater fully on in the car " one, to be sure.

Mind them roads, "keep em peeled" as Shaw Taylor always said.

Thank you @ianpspurs. All the best for the drip trip day.

I do not think it is the climate change, @Annb
We have bad weather exactly this time every year here and sometimes we are snowed in completely for a week so I would say from where I live from my perspective, this is just a normal freezing below zero winter so far...with the occasional snowed in for a week thing.

I hope you make it easily and safely to get your legs re-bandaged.

Can you re-bandage your legs yourself in an emergency just to tide you over for a few days?

Always think that if I splashed a few splodges on a paper, a little smattering of excess paint & then drew a few lines & dragged the paintbrush across the sheet.....

That IS exactly what mine would look like I'd done .

Yet you manage to create beauty & 3d imagery with your talents.

Not jealous....
Nope, not even the tiniest bit

Try it? Have a go?
Post your results?

No art materials?
No excuse...
I've used left over coffee, left over black tea before now, a twig or a cocktail stick if you don't have a brush?
