When my eldest daughter was ill in bed with glandular fever I gave her a bell to ring when she needed us. She thought it was wonderful and started ringing it every 5 minutes. Very quickly I had to confiscate it.Well done ..& well done Kiki.
We don't have a cat, but next doors kept coming around, same issue so I put a little bells outside.
So cute when Marley started using it. Aaawww
Not so cute once he'd mastered it, and started speed boxing it if we were even the slightest bit slow to answer his first ring-a-ding.
Sitting in a cupboard somewhere.
Some boxing gym most likely gained its first cat boxer ...furryweight, obviously.
Well done for teaching Kiki how to use the bell.20.01

-2°C outside. Heavy frost. Very pretty but feel cold just looking it.
MrSlim made a gargantuan portion of porridge with milk. Not something that reheats successfully and I fancied something warm. So - added a dash of cream and handful of grated cheese, stirred until cheese melted and served with a little more cream and coffee. Not the most delicious breakfast, probably not on repeat, but bg after about an hour was 6.5 and another hour ish later back down to 5.1.
Not sure what these figures mean.
Kiki has finally understood the purpose of my teaching her to ring a bell. Its not actually about the treats - its about communicating a desire for someone to open the door. Hooray!!!
Its great to see MrSlim almost leap up from the table on hearing the bell to let her out. The bell seems to penetrate concentration on his phone even when a mew does not.
Now I just need to find another bell to hang outside. Which is the ultimate goal of the exercise. Kiki does appear at the salon window and mew (Very quietly) to be let in. If the curtains are shut, as they are in cold weather, or tv on. we don't see or hear her. So anticipating this have been experimenting with a small brass bell for several months.
I think it's been difficult fo her because the first touches I taught her were gentle and the bell requires a more forceful touch to sound. I am vastly pleased with her for making this leap in comprehension.
What a wonderful cat Jimmy was @AnnbOur cat, the long departed Jimmy, had us well trained to open the front door for him when he knocked. The letter box was low down in the door and well within his reach. He must have lifted the flap one day to look inside and when he dropped it, we heard the clatter and went to the door. He strolled in as though he owned the joint (which, of course, he did). Thereafter, he would always knock on the door to be let in. Pretty sure he was the one doing the training, not us.
This was the same cat who fought off dogs, tore his way out of cat baskets, killed rats and walked on a lead like a dog. The song about Sam the Skull comes to mind when thinking about him, but he was the gentlest, best behaved cat that ever was.

Trolls are really horrible @gennepher. I just don't know what enjoyment they get from doing it.Fbg 6.5

Judith’s cousin’s son died at 22 he had CF but our, nephew who also has CF is now in his forties life can be so random. When our nephew died (he had CF and died at age 21), his mother (Mrs Miggins’ twin) split his ashes and her and us carry small containers of them wherever we go. We sprinke some in a nice place, take a photo and note the location. The photos go into an album. That was what he asked for, to be placed all over the globe. Not much of his ashes left now be he certainly has got around.
I agree @Krystyna23040Trolls are really horrible @gennepher. I just don't know what enjoyment they get from doing it.
Thanks @ianpspursMorning all from a quiet start here in L.A, via Cambridge. No fbg as the 8.45 MRI was vital and the Fbg is more a luxury item. MRI early on Sunday is a smooth process with easy parking and running to time just disruptive of my routine. We were back here in time for my 10.00 am tablets with 2 babybels so all good. Interesting points about funerals. I appear to be tasked with writing a will and organising the funeral of my Uncle: not sure about that but there is little to no contract on that side of the family. now another aunt - who was a link - has gone into a home. No one knows where she is and we only found out by pure chance. Said uncle is/can be a difficult customer therefore some, including that sister - have cut off contact. @gennepher thank you for sharing the creative and hug for the troll issue. I agree with @Krystyna23040 (great fbg btw) why do that? @dunelm enjoy the pea and ham soup and thanks for sharing the creative. Enjoy your Sunday everyone even if, like me, you will have chicken: to be clear it is a huge blessing to be able, by God's grace and in His love, to eat food which in and of itself is good just not to my liking as Sunday roast.
When your not only paying the piper , you are the piper....wrote the service and his own eulogy which was quite expansive as he was never one for false modesty

Thank you @gennepherLike this very much...
Enjoy that late coffee @dunelm
I am thinking of getting mine written by some AI programme after setting some basic ideas that involve a motorcycle, some carefully chosen music and a nod to the film Solyent Green. When your not only paying the piper , you are the piper....
Keeping mine short
Editing it as I go
Quite pleased how disciplined I'm being.
Got it down to two chapters already....well happy
