That is a brilliant strategy @AnnbNeil has always been very hot on passwords. Way back, when we first started using passwords, I used a very simple one which was part of our address - it didn't matter so much then, real cyber crime had yet to develop. However, he soon talked me out of it and now I make up very complicated passwords and since they are all kept in one encrypted file, it's unlikely anyone could access them or work out what they are. However, I have to go through them again and lengthen them. Most of the older ones are only 8 characters long and now the recommendation is at least 10 and Neil reckons 12. I can remember 8 or 10 characters but 12 might be a bit much for my memory. It doesn't matter though because I only need to remember the one for the encrypted file.
Thanks @Krystyna23040@gennepher - words fail me after reading your post. Actually they don't but they are not the words that I can write on this forum. What a total nightmare.
Completely unprofessional and very unhelpful to say the least. There are things called password keepers but I fear they may be vulnerable for hackers to have a go at. I tend to be old fashioned and keep mine written down - a burglary may be less of a risk than on line hackers.I am late because I went to my bank in the High Street this morning because they were going to show me how to start up my banking app because they are now closing down. I did go last beginning of week but she said she couldn't do it because of something on my account last week. I do not understand why , but she assured me she could do it today..
I had already downloaded the app, but I hadn't logged into it. She had told me to leave it until this morning and she would show me how it worked and everything... and I thought fair enough it would save me some time.
How wrong I was...
The bank lady 'helping' me, insisted I did not have to do a complicated password just put your name of your favourite place and two numbers you can remember at the end of it, she said. That is secure, she said that is how I do all my passwords just think of a favourite place name and then I just put a couple of numbers on the end. I do all my passwords like that she said. No one will know your favourite place she said?!?!?!? Social media and Facebook anyone, for those who document their lives online?
I think my jaw dropped....
No need for these fancy passwords, the bank lady insisted.
I told her I was having problems making a password because the keyboard within the app just gave me numbers and lowercase letters. Which meant my password could only be lowercase letters and numbers, and I didn't find that very secure.
The bank lady repeats again, getting a bit impatient with me, just a name of place you like with two numbers at the end of it for your password. What the heck can you do for a secure password would be just lowercase letters and numbers?
So I worked something out, and the bank lady said you didn't need to work out all that...
Anyway, she clicks it into the app, and hands me my iPad back. I tell her you told me you were going to show me how to use the app.
I can't do that today, she said, you've got to wait for the authorisation code. I reach for my phone, assuming it is going to come on the phone.
Oh no, she said it will come by post, coming in about 7 to 10 days. I looked at her, the bank lady, and said, but you'll be closed by then. Oh, she said well, we have an outreach centre which is starting about three weeks time, every Wednesday morning, just until July, so you have to wait to see that outreach lady.
Words failed me.
I walk out into the High Street and give out the most annoyed fart....
I return home to find a message from the bank on my phone. I could not understand the message. What I had also done while I was at the bank was I had paid off my credit card card in full for this month. And I have a receipt which says I have paid it in full. Imagine my confusion when this text message says that my direct debit each month for paying off my credit card will be the same sum of money that I have just paid off my credit card today, but that I still have to pay this month's credit card. What the f has this stupid bank clerk done.
I have more than lost the will to live...
Oh, and the cherry on the cake is I just logged into the bank app (even though I can't get any further in it ) to check that the password worked, on my iPad. And App says oh you naughty girl this is an insecure password, we have already guessed what it was, can we put one of our funny passwords in for you instead. No I said. Because there's no way I can get into the App to correct or do anything....
Fbg was 7, in case I don't manage to do a creative or any video edit, or anything today, because I am going to sleep now and the world can go to heck....
Thank you @Krystyna23040I love your painting @dunelm
I have no idea why this level of incompetence has manifested here @Krystyna23040That is appalling @gennepher

A beautiful painting @dunelmGood morning everyone on a bright, sunny yet chilly start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. I shall hang washing on the line and have a walk into town to dose on vitamin D and have a smidgeon of red light therapy to help reduce blood sugars - I ought to test before and after to see if it works - probably not as well as a Red light therapy lamp or sunbathing in Equatorial Guinea. However, unfiltered sunlight should work a bit - is unfiltered sunlight like unfiltered olive oil or unfiltered apple cider vinegar? Art bit - when things don’t go as intended, keep going and hope for something else. Hope everyone has a decent day and that hairdressers can clamber over building detritus @Annb. I need some koffy.

I can use my local post office for some banking. There are also post office banking hubs which offer more services - only two in Wales - Prestatyn and Welshpool. Thanks @Krystyna23040
This experience has totally put me off Internet banking, but I have no choice with my High Street bank closing down.
Thank you @gennepher - not what I was planning but never mind.A beautiful painting @dunelm
It went well!

Tribute to your tenacity that you still produced and shared that wonderful kaleidoscope after that day. Rest up.I believe I might have said my Fbg was around 7 earlier...
Can't remember...
Nighttime wildlife video
Badgers all night...3 of them...
1 min 37 secs
Creative is a kaleidoscope
I focussed it on the different colours of the top of the biro...
Biro was sitting on my knitted hat.
Now the rest of the day is mine...
Have a good evening...

A nice big cuppa for you...

I know I'm a townie and even so my nearest, over the water, closed just before Christmas.I can use my local post office for some banking. There are also post office banking hubs which offer more services - only two in Wales - Prestatyn and Welshpool.
Tenacious G....Tribute to your tenacity that you still produced and shared that wonderful kaleidoscope after that day. Rest up.
Thanks @jjraakHorrendous situation .
I wonder if a quick post on twitter to the relevant bank might get you a better response.
Found with BT it was like painting the forth bridge with a toothbrush.
A post on there freed up someone to actually fix it.
Worth the minutes time, I'd say.
Thank you very much @ianpspurs for your kind words.Tribute to your tenacity that you still produced and shared that wonderful kaleidoscope after that day. Rest up.
Okay @Lamont DI know I'm a townie and even so my nearest, over the water, closed just before Christmas.
My nearest now is a good forty miles away!
However, my local small Morrisons mini market, has a post office, and they do bank transactions when you only need your credit or debit card. With the usual chip and pin. And I'm sure they will help you, if you find a similar store @gennepher.
I've never seen any of the Rocky films but I'm all over this and the infamous and brilliant inch by inch speech from any given Sunday - some rude words but locker rooms are like that - which I used widely in the classroom (with care). Both could have been penned just for and by you.Thank you very much @ianpspurs for your kind words.
It took me awhile today to get my get up and go back up again!!!
