No we don't @Lamont D I remember blue skies, sun and fine days for summer when I was a child, whether I was living in Kent or on the farm in Nottinghamshire, and in Kent I remember the thunderstorms with raindrops that fell on the ground bigger than half crowns...and the ice cream man on a bicycle, and the D block of ice cream and wafers wrapped in tissue paper....and in Kent the French onion man with a beret, on a bicycle with strings of onions...I would love it to a 20 degrees for at least two months the summer months.
And rain during the night
But as always we go from one extreme to the other.
We never get the long summer that we remember from our childhood.

Blue skies and sun this morning. Temperature 15C but still an icy wind...
Badgers were digging up my garden for worms last night. Loads of holes...not tunnels fortunately...
It seems like the neighbourhood's worms all live in my garden...neighbours all have tarmac, brick, paved type gardens...
The small birds (dozens, and flocks of them, like marshtits & longtailedtits, swoop in, no pesticides in my garden, and so they eat all the little bugs), blackbirds, wood pigeons, even the magpie are present all day.
The only thing I am short on is butterflies and bees and wasps. There are almost none this year.

Two Badgers & Two Cats
The badgers dig for worms under the bird feeders....
The ginger cat is the newish ginger and white cat, he has been around a month now. But I have never seen him in daytime...

Some insects have not had a good year, it must be said, but these highs and lows are a feature of insect ecology.
Our resident mammals, reptiles and amphibians are thriving and song birds, both resident and migratory, seem to be doing well, apart from blackbirds. Here in London, their numbers have declined due to a virus that is doing the rounds.
Yes, it sometimes feels as though we're catering for our entire neighbourhood's wildlife in addition to our own, but they provide us with hours of entertainment in return.
Thank you for sharinng your night time video and kaleidoscope.

Like the tree very much...Good morning everyone on what can only be described as dreich this morning here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this am and already out in the rain to place a bag of stuff at the end of the drive for the NE Air Ambulance collection. My second favourite shorts are due to meet an abrupt demise this morning. We (me and the shorts) are informed that they are not a suitable candidate for inclusion in the collection bag of second life but could be born again in the form of a floor cloth. Personally, I suspect that they will become free of samsara due to their bizarre attraction to the rock band called Nirvana. There will be a short ceremony followed by refreshments in the conservatory. Art bit - another tree. Bird song outside - has it stopped raining? Hope your day goes well. I need koffy and then probably a bit of reading.
Amazing creative so thank you very much. I hope your efforts over the video are rewarded with more views. Take care.Fbg 6.6
Wondering what outdoor gear to wear. I cannot hold an umbrella while hanging on to 2 crutches, or should I just wear no protective rain gear, and then hang it up to dry when I get back...that way it saves a washing load...
The car should have had a good wash in this rain...the outside windows are now clean...

This one is from a week or so ago, on a dry hot summer's night...
Badgers & Fox & Cats all drink water this hot night
I posted this yesterday evening, and in 10 hours it only had 3 views...I usually have nearly 500 or more views by now...sigh...2 hours of work in this video...a lot of clips to edit..the amount of views make it worthwhile for the effort put in....
But it is all in the title, so, I have made the title shorter at 8 am this morning, and reposted the You Tube title with just 'Badgers & Fox & Cats'.
We'll see if this improves matters...

East coast weather is as different again to West Coast weather. Most summers were long and hot in Lincs and of course Notts, Kent and East Anglia. No we don't @Lamont D I remember blue skies, sun and fine days for summer when I was a child, whether I was living in Kent or on the farm in Nottinghamshire, and in Kent I remember the thunderstorms with raindrops that fell on the ground bigger than half crowns...and the ice cream man on a bicycle, and the D block of ice cream and wafers wrapped in tissue paper....and in Kent the French onion man with a beret, on a bicycle with strings of onions...
Sorry...going down memory lane...
Morning Derek. I hope you and Marjorie are as well as can be. Don't tell everyone about East Anglia especially those up there beyond the Ice wall who think they live in the promised land. Spoiler alert, I've been and you don't fool me chaps.East coast weather is as different again to West Coast weather. Most summers were long and hot in Lincs and of course Notts, Kent and East Anglia.
Of course there is plenty of variations from the norm.
D.
I am weighing and recording everything I eat again because have recently put on 3lb - even though I am LC every day.calorie overload and LC - does not compute. I can't eat a whole Kg tub of PB for breakfast per day
10 gms of cheddar - is that even visible to the naked eye?I am weighing and recording everything I eat again because have recently put on 3lb - even though I am LC every day.
I got a shock this morning at the 800 calories that Fat Secret had logged for breakfast. When i looked closer I had logged 107g of cheddar cheese instead of the 10g which I had sprinkled over my scrambled egg
Or the standpipes in the road, cos of the drought.
