What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

10 gms of cheddar - is that even visible to the naked eye? :D 10 gms of grated Parmesan would yield more, is marginally lower carb and delights ones' taste buds more. Other opinions are available though they are just not right :D
I really love the taste of extra mature cheddar. It is quite strong so a little bit goes quite a long way.

Morning all from a dreary L.A. where we are promised a high of no more than 20C - hard as I try there's no making that a good day in terms of the weather. However, I sit here safe and comfortable, with an 800 mls mug of Assam, ready to plunge my dessert spoon into the Kg tub of PB before swallowing my steroids listening to Judy Collins rendition of Amazing Grace. The dogs are calm and pleased to have their routine back at least today. I may be turning ever so slightly American - except it is PB not PB and jelly and tea not a cup of Joe. Standards Old Boy, standards.@dunelm commiserations on the loss of those shorts and thanks for the art. Torso still repairing but footwear may be an issue for a while. I left the house yesterday so wore trainers. A delightful bullae appeared on my Achilles tendon - JKP aspirated and dressed so easily dealt with. Slightly bored by now so I may even read a book - one I last read aged 17. Obvious hopes for similarities but even if I now "know" the history is a tad iffy the language is sublime. Tea and PB time here - Y'all make your own fun today.
Thank you @ianpspurs and good to know that standards are still being observed in dreary L.A.

Wondering what outdoor gear to wear. I cannot hold an umbrella while hanging on to 2 crutches, or should I just wear no protective rain gear, and then hang it up to dry when I get back...that way it saves a washing load...

The car should have had a good wash in this rain...the outside windows are now clean...

Nighttime wildlife videos
This one is from a week or so ago, on a dry hot summer's night...
Badgers & Fox & Cats all drink water this hot night
I posted this yesterday evening, and in 10 hours it only had 3 views...I usually have nearly 500 or more views by now...sigh...2 hours of work in this video...a lot of clips to edit..the amount of views make it worthwhile for the effort put in....
But it is all in the title, so, I have made the title shorter at 8 am this morning, and reposted the You Tube title with just 'Badgers & Fox & Cats'.
We'll see if this improves matters...

Creative...a kaleidoscope in Laboscope...
Taken of a bucket of water (the beasties drinking water) with reflections of leaves in it.

Smashing kaleidoscope - waterproof coat and one of those concertina fold up rain bonnets

I loved those outdoor swimming baths....didn't matter if it was winter...
We had one that regardless the heat, the water was freezing!
But the huge one on the prom, was something to behold with the crowds flocking there, the series of events, the facilities, there is nothing like it now. Including the foot wash, where I slipped and broke my right arm!
Great place.

@Lamont D You mean the New Brighton Outdoor Baths? They were amazing. Then a storm breached its walls...

If the water went up to bearable temperatures at Lincoln it meant there had been a considerable heat wave and Police would have got out their whites for point duty rather than get 'cooked'.

The youngster would ask. Whats the temperature at Boultham baths?
D

Cold rainy day in Cumbria not able to do very much.
Good news that the consultation went well. Shame about the weather but imho you managed the main event of the day so now time to rest in comfort. Will Marjorie be watching the football? Peace be with you both.

Yep!
it was already in decline due to the economic pressures for the council. Since we became Merseyside, a lot of resources were diverted by government. And the whole of the area suffered. As usual!
The storm just finished it off.
it is now a car park for the new regeneration done at the turn of the century thanks to European money, and a bit of Labour government money.
further along the coast, your way, there was the Derby baths. That is the one which was freezing.
There was a number of sea baths around the peninsula.
And a small number of indoor baths. One were I learned to swim at four years old, due to it being next to my Infant and junior school. My kids, were swimming by the same age. It was a sort of a ritual where we lived.
Including Mrs L, who was a member of the local swimming club till an adult and took part in many galas.
I wasn't that good, but I did get asked to play water polo, for the club, I tried but, not my game. I nearly drowned, ha!
I think there used to be a few on the north Wales coast, I'm sure we swam there in the 60's/70's?
Good memories!

I was reliably informed, that outdoor baths were heated to at least 50 degrees. Farenheit.????

Having a thunderstorm at the moment, heavy rain, thunder and lightning.
I'm trying to watch the footie!!!

Persistent rain all day here in London. No tennis was played on the outside courts at Wimbledon. There's now a serious backlog of matches due rain delays.

The reason we're getting a soaking, yet again, is mostly the jet stream. Apparently, we're saddled with troughs over Greenland forming a succession of low pressure systems that track slowly over the UK.

Higher pressure than normal over north-east Europe (might have known the Russians had a hand in it) has slowed the progress of these rain-bearing low pressure systems which tend to stagnate over the UK for a few days bringing still more wet weather.

On top of that, sea surface temperatures in the Atlantic are at record levels thanks to climate change, which means low pressure systems have more energy, resulting in higher rainfall and thunderstorms.

Tuesday's FBG, 4.6 mmol on waking at 6.00 am.

Morning all from a too, too dreary Me Dearie L.A. on if its Wednesday roll out the black bin tonight. Now I've seen to the dogs, made tea and peeled two boiled eggs to go with the Jarlsberg for morning meds regime today is pretty much wait for Jimmy's last hurrah, fit in some tennis before Dear England time. Its all go/gone here. I will test fbg again but atm all I will learn is that steroids and antibiotics plus Bully Bully stress the body - who knew/could have guessed?@JohnEGreen hug for the frustration but it is hardly surprising bg reflects the tumultuous times you are experiencing. Peace be with you and Judith. The great and the good in the old BBC discussion on that book I adored as a 17 year old very much agreed with my view that the last 20? years have the same feel as England in the first decade of the C20th and our leaders have ducked solving the same issues: poverty - low wages, made worse by inequality for women, Ireland as the prime example of the nonsense of Empire (1 or 2), our real place in the world especially Europe. Moscow, this tea won't drink itself nor tablets swallow themselves. Y'all have a great day -
