What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone on a Moist Van Lipwig of a start to the day here in French Froggy France. 5.4 this a.m. Rain did not stop play yesterday. Mind you, the French are not well versed in the rules of cricket. A Demi-kilo of crevettes in the market yesterday; some with a Caesar salad last night and more for this evening. Smashing lunch at the parents favourite restaurant. Packing today - an 0830 train to catch in the morning - it will be a long day of trains and trams and planes - no boats thank you. Hopefully an uneventful journey or there and back again. Art bit, more ink splodges - last one tomorrow. The rain has stopped, for now. Have a smashing Sunday if you can. We are hopping for a walk along the river but not until we have had koffy.
Brilliant art bit. Great colours @dunelm

Morning all on what is now the start of Fall/Autumn according to even the traditionalists. By the looks of the forecast this week the weather agrees - 13 ºC Friday and Saturday :bigtears: .No rain here overnight and so far (10.00) yet today. My fbg was 4.9 which was a nice surprise as last evening my routine was put out of kilter. A decision was taken (not by me ) to have an Indian takeaway, watch the boxing and sample my spirits cellar. #3 son has done a recyling centre run for us in the dry. He and his partner slept here as the ladies have gone to Mamma Mia the party. JKP's ticket was a Christmas present from the boys. @jjraak thanks for the link to road closures earlier as they were going to drive all the way, hence the sleep over as it was to be an 8.00 am start, but are now driving part way - Epping? - and taking the tube. @gennepher thank you for sharing the kaleidoscope. @dunelm thank you for sharing the art. Good news that rain didn't stop play yesterday and even better news that the meal was smashing. Enjoy the walk and have a safe but uneventful journey home. @SlimLizzy well done on realising in time that Kiki was out with no collar. Have as good a Sunday as possible everyone - still too early to start the sprouts.
Thanks Ian...

Good morning everyone :)
FBG 7.8 !!!!
I am like What the heck happened thhere???? No food after dinner last night ...just a few cashews. I did have a funny turn though during the evening...my blood pressure dropped to 52/40 for no reason and I ended up on the floor sweating profusely and couldn't get up for half an hour :( My FBG is normally 5.2 to 5.8 so seeing 7.8 for no obvious reason came as a shock to me. It started dropping back to normal quite quickly but could anyone help me undersatnd what happened to cause the high number please

Fbg 6.8

I am way behind today...

Wildlife nighttime video

I am out of time...just before the bewitching hour...

Take care...

Wonderful.
Inundated with dragonflies here as well.
It is very damp here.
Showers all overnight and morning.
Had to use the drier for today's washing.

Due to my arthritis, I went shopping for the utensils, such as a tin opener, that had bigger handles etc.
As the old ones, I struggled to use.
With some material such as the wetsuit stuff. To stop being sweaty inside, use talc or the stuff weight lifters use.
When I had carpal tunnel, before the op. Keeping the wrist support/protector dry helped when doing stuff.
I have a huge, commercial tin opener attached to a worktop but find that I can often use an ordinary domestic one (big handles). The tins I have problems with these days are those with ring pulls - if they don't break before I can get the lid off, I struggle to pull the lid back out of the way. There are more and more tins that have these kind of opener - the only tins I use are tomatoes, butter beans, chick peas and tinned sardines. And these all use the ring pull kind of top. Actually, thinking about it, I may have a tool somewhere that helps to get ring pulls open. Must hunt around for it.

I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome (both wrists) some years ago and I hoped the consultant at the hospital would offer injections (as my GP suggested) but they wouldn't. The only option they offered was surgery. I had a friend who was a cellist and her wrists had both developed CTS. She had surgery but even then couldn't use her hands in any meaningful sense. Heartbreaking for her as a musician. I refused the surgery because I felt my problem hadn't developed far enough to warrant it. The doctors just sent me packing and refused any treatment if I would not take the surgical route. That was more than 20 years ago and I am only now having problems with my hands, which comes and goes, depending on what I have been doing. Still wouldn't take the surgical route, even if it were to be offered.

BG at 06.20 today was 5.3.

It's never too early to start the sprouts - as long as you don't wait until Christmas to eat them.

There are hunters here! In tbe field opposite. Kiki had just gone out, but I realised without her collar and called her in. Then gunshots. Dogs and hunting horns. So she is now hiding under the oven.
As far as I am aware the hunting season here starts next weekend. But it varies from one canton to another, so some have obviously decided to start now.
There are quite a few hunters around my neck of the woods.
There are those hunting a certain knight, who has stopped Christmas for many.
There are those hunting politicians who still continue to tell a pack of dogs who bark lies.
There are those hunting the local sports clubs, trying to find who is responsible for their favourite team is so ....!
There are those hunting a bargain for their grandkids birthday.
Sigh!

Interestingly, my CT developed after leaving the car factory, and because of early retirement, I couldn't claim for it. It developed due to car door rubber parts and gripping the lights (glass) to fit into the doors.
I was offered the surgery, had it, with only a local anaesthetic, watched it on the screen. So fascinating!
not much pain ( can only take paracetamol) and I was using it after three days after. I was part time in my job then and didn't take time off at all.
The relief I felt from the moment the ligament was cut was excellent.
a very successful op.

Good move getting Kiki in, those hunters take pot shots at anything that moves and sometimes they are pretty inebriated by mid afternoon.
I know this, Errant was a victim of their "Shoot anything that moves mentality"

7.0 up again grrr.
Hoping for a much quieter day today, even though I have had a busy normal morning.
I've been informed I must catch up with some decorating. But it can wait till midweek maybe.
Kitchen duties for a chicken salad later.
Have a wonderful Sunday (please!!!!!)
My bestest regards and bestest wishes.

As a family we tend to wait until there has been a good frost on them, at least for home grown ones so probably after the clocks change - well after these days.. The thinking is that they taste sweeter after a good frost. We also tend to saute them with lardons/chorizo or just roast them with plenty of EVO. Picking them on a commercial scale is a good way to get arthritic fingers so I'm told.

Without Google what is a lardon?
Or is it a euphemism?
I've got arthritic fingers, but it wasn't handling my sprouts!!!!!!!

Never, ever the abomination on the nose and taste buds that is smoked bacon. Actually we often also use Pancetta. Probably not from Aldi as a 30 mile round trip for lardons is barking mad and all their bacon and lardons are far too salty for me. O/T are you watching football - just how big are Roy Keane's feet? :arghh:

Yeah, but it's his rants that worry me.
I'd rather have the gammon.
meat not a pig tory.

I'll hold you in my thoughts but I fear you may be beyond help :playful:
Sometimes, just sometimes, that is how I feel.
Helpless.
But I can take a hint.
Tomorrow is another day.
Another chance at getting it right. Ha!
Another chance at completely getting it wrong.
Another chance to live another day, with those I love.

See, basket case!

I either shred them and make into a salad or braise them with butter and lemon juice to make them a bit sharper. Not fond of bacon/pork flavour with sprouts. I do like to be different!
