What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

You would not want to be in our house!
I live on a main road into and out of town.
It is also the reason why the sirens never stop.
All the services bar the RNLI, use this road to get to the motorway or the rest of the area.

7.2 cos, I'm in a tiz today.
New dishwasher has arrived, needed it cos of my arthritis and too many chips on Mrs L 's bestest crockery, the china is out away, as is the silver!!!!! For some reason, Mrs L won't let me near it.
Anywho, it is in and done, excepting I needing shopping for it.
So off I went and cos I'm not my usual calm self, the shop was full.
Defcom two as someone mentioned previously @ianpspurs maybe......
So I had to wait, no rinse and for the new machine, no yoghurt or drink for Mrs L, and then no salad stuff for me. Aaaaaghhh!!!!I

20 minutes later.......

Just been out again, found some rinse and yay. But nowt else.

Mrs L has, while I'm out, typically, done too much. And was sitting on the edge of the bath. Mrs L has said she wanted a wash after....... Toilet etc.
I do wish Mrs L would wait for me to help her and ask for help, which Mrs L won't do...!

Talk of accidents, my brother in law, had an argument with a bus and lost, this was when he was seven.
Since it was only minor knock as thank heavens the bus was slowing by a bus stop.
A couple of years later, he was playing on the local swings, he fell off into concrete.
He fractured his skull, big scar from front to back.
Took a year to get him back to school, and during that time, broke his arm, toes and fingers.
He has also bruised his ribs, when a bit tipsy a few year later.
Any who (again) his mental health, unsurprisingly, is all over the place. He says every time, he does hurt himself, cos there are many more knocks and bruises, I can't remember, he goes dizzy, and his balance goes.
But his levels of anxiety goes nuclear, much worse than mine.
His fears and traumas to everyday life is off the scale sometimes.
His favourite saying is.....
Well, I'm still around, and that bus is well and truly rust now!

Nice letter this afternoon, from the DWP.
Advising me that I'm defo not getting winter fuel payment.

I hope my cash goes to someone who really needs it.....
But it would have been a nice chrimbo present.
Funny how saving for your pension all your working life, seems to punish you, time and time again.
And then you pay more tax on it, even though that money was taxed before being taken out of your wages.

Have your bestest footie Saturday or your weekend.
My bestest wishes.

Rain this morning, now sunny, not bad.
Batten down the hatches for tomorrow. Storm imminent.
Oh no, your brother in law has done well to survive all those accidents. No wonder his level of anxiety goes nuclear sometimes.

Where I teach in Norwich is adjacent to the A140 Ipswich Road which is very much like your road. It is a constant stream of emergency services in and out of Norwich. I try to think that it is a good thing - it means that someone who needs help is getting that help.

Totally but do they need to have the sirens on regardless of traffic?

Drier has given up!
Think the did electronics have burnt out and drum refusing to move.

So I'm gonna scour the internet for bargain.

Since last summer, kettle, microwave, television, dishwasher, Pad for Mrs L, e-reader for me, DVD player, have been replaced, and now drier.
Next thing to go..........?

We have blue light and sirens going past our houses just about every day at leat three or four times a night quite unnerving at times.
It is quite like wacky races by the traffic lights, during rush hour, and the ambulance, fire engines and pandas are vying for the right of way first place.
**** Dasterdly has nowt on these drivers.
Also the Penelope Pitstops, mothers putting away phones, make up, brushes etc.
The Peter Perfects slowing down to below the 20 mph speed limit.
Often amuses myself doing some garden time.

There's another spider in my bedroom - right up where I can't reach it with the spider catcher. Neil's gone to bed - probably asleep by now; Hugo has been confined to the back porch after disgracing himself last night in the hallway; I was going to bed, but now I can't. It's not as big as the last one, but big enough so, once again, I am giving my bedroom over to the spider until Neil is available to catch it.

My garden has plenty of fungi as well, some creature eats them... @SlimLizzy
Fly larvae are often observed nibbling at fungi in my garden @gennepher. Slugs polish off some too. They are eaten by deer, squirrels and other rodents and your badgers will be enthusiastic fungus foragers.

In Winter, fungi are a particularly important food source, adult flies help distribute fungal spores and slugs are eaten in turn by larger creatures. The presence of fungi is essential for most wildlife habitats.

Kind of you to say so @ianpspurs

Appointment went well .

If nothing else I might get that referral I've been after back to kings to review leg.

3 years in and something just isn't right, still most grateful though for the skill & expertise of the surgeons for all they did for me that day .

But this pain issue can't be part of daily life without some investigation.

Anyway, after appointment, suitably prepared with my cane, and channelling my very best David Niven/Hugh Laurie in house (take ya pick )

In my mind, while this was a real trek for me.
It was of the mindset, i might not get better days than today.

So exhausted and most likely to be paying the price listening to Mr achy knee for the next few days, I'm luxuriating in physically just being 'out' there again among people.

It's been a long road, and a good way to go yet....but we're getting there, even if it is itsy bitsy baby steps

So post examination, I slowly sauntered off, resting often to enjoy what turned out to be quite a marvelous weather day.

Idea as suggested by Lauren, was to avoid the fees to go up the shard proper, and instead pop next door to the sky gardens .
Free to go up she said, and gawk & ooh at the views over London.

But silly me....
From the woman who directional skills, stop at "turn right...no no no ..the other right "... :hilarious:

I should have doubted her locational skills

Apparently it's on the other side of river to the shard ..
"It's on the south side ..no no no the other south side...:arghh:"

So no overview from me of old London town.

But given the song choice, an appropriately inspired walk/hobble along the river running through it, Good ol' father Thames

For those not local, London must seem huge.

And with over 9 million people it is.

However for any reasonably healthy person, I'd say the more obvious tourists parts are very walkable and easily doable in a day or two
(not including the queuing and patient shuffling as one moves around each "pay here" site with seemingly everyone in London on the same day...)

So very walkable .

Mine is only a small snippet of what's on offer if one looks.

So please accept my pics as my meagre offering to the arts & crafts section of our fabulous little winglet of the forum.

Old London...

Good morning everyone on a so far so good start to the day here an hour into the future. Yesterday was taken up with shopping and cleaning up the remaining mezzanine. Mum was delighted to be handed piles of rice paper in a variety of sizes and textures as well as several watercolour pads - probably enough of each to open a shop! She plans to use the watercolour pads at least, over the winter months, once she has finished all the knitting and crocheting requests that are still on the cards. Soup making this morning - some for later today and some for portioning up and freezing. Journeying home tomorrow and I still have not made much of a dent in dad’s wine stash - mum is quite disappointed in what she called our amateurish attempts. Astonishing then that a number of glass receptacles were taken to the bottle bank yesterday. Also, how does she know? She doesn’t drink anything other than for medicinal purposes and then it’s probably only lemon juice and honey in hot water. Still, my brother will be here next month so it will be his turn to have a go. Art bit - a smidge of green again. Hope your day pans out well for you. Best have some koffy and get the soup on the go.

Fbg 5.8 this morning.
Ancestry dot com has now done an update and changed a lot of stuff especially where DNA is concerned it seems I am less Scottish than it originally said but but that Scottishness is all from the Highlands and Islands and has changed some of the relationships of DNA matches and it seems that one in particular whom I thought was a 2nd cousin is in reality a 1st cousin or half niece which is strange because I am an only child and all the children of my mothers siblings are known to me or so I thought so now am trying to work that one out.

5.5 this morning. Still feeling a bit better day by day. The extreme tiredness, explosive sneezing, coughing and muscle aches have gone. Just left with sore throat, sniffly nose and feeling a bit lethargic which is actually a huge improvement.

Very intriguing that blood sugars have been impressively good the last couple of days.

Perhaps I have hit on a new way of controlling it. Test positive for Covid and do less than 2K steps a day. Somehow I don't think that it will catch on. :)

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman. Is it a good morning? If you are reading this load of twaddle then it is a good morning because you woke up, you can read, and you have access to electronics that enable you to read this, and lastly you have time to waste reading this! Simples.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.0

Shortly I must go and stand in the indoor rain cabinet.
Mrs J has gone off for a mammogram, yes on a Sunday. Thank you the NHS. While me, me’s and myself will have 2 of our 3 grandchildren to entertain this morning.
One of our grandchildren said to me the other day “ Grandad you smell “ I replied “ of what “, his reply was “ of old man smell “. Hence why I’m going to stand in the indoor rain cabinet in a few minutes. Children are wonderful.

Stay safe all

Yes Ancestry has changed a lot.
It is doing my head in trying to work out what this means @JohnEGreen
Because some of it doesn't make sense now.

Yes @Krystyna23040
I think I am better, but I start to do stuff and realise I still need to take it easy.
Not grumbling at all, because I feel tons better than I was...

Yes, I am at that stage also. There are several nurses in my classes and they have all been warning me that I must not overdo it as I recover and that rest is very very important.

Luckily I have cancelled everything next week and then there is half term so I can have a phased return to full activity.

Actually, I couldn't have planned the timing of catching Covid better.
