What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Watched the insta one genn

Nice crisp pic and omg the sound of that rain..HEAVY.

tried clicking on tiktok like I have done with some others I have been sent.

But it insisted I join & download or create an account with tiktok...and I don't want to as yet .

My selfish vote is insta, but I so agree how rewarding it is to get so much positive feedback SO quickly would make tiktok the one I would use if it was my videos .

Marvellous stuff, whatever you decide

YouTube's loss I say .

Thank you @jjraak. Seizures are really scary.
Poppy is back to normal this morning. We told fellow dog walkers about what happened and one said the same thing happened to their 15 year black lab. Vet said it was old age and she lived to almost 17:with only very rare seizures.

Interesting that Archie had a stroke at 15 but lived to over 17. Perhaps it is an aging brain thing with very old labs.

It is YouTube's loss I agree @jjraak

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on this.

I hadn't seen how Instagram looked when the post was published, nor known how the TikTok link looked when this post was published.. Now that I see the TikToc link is minimal, I think I will post both links

You can create an account with TikTok, make it private and never post. But I know exactly what you mean, I have resisted TikTok for years and years for the very same reasons. I resist an awful lot of things that make you sign in. But YouTube messed me about so much and that would have been the easy option for general access.

I will post both links, but I can see Instagram really promotes their link...

Thanks

I watched both - I found Tic Tok easier. Obviously you do you but the number of views must be rewarding. Interesting fungi. Do bear in mind my opinion is totally unreliable on anything visual.

Thank you Ian for your input.
I agree TikTok is a lot easier.
Yes @ianpspurs the views are very rewarding, make it worthwhile all the work that goes into the editing and everything else with the video clips.
Your opinion is reliable on the visual....

I guess JKP would agree - if only in recognising her comeliness

@gennepher I agree with @jjraak that the Instagram one is the one I prefer for exactly the same reason.

Almost forgot to post fbg. It was 5.5 this morning.
Poppy had no more seizures for 24 hours - which is a good sign.
Actually she seems to have completely forgotten about it. I wish we could do the same.

Thank you so much for responding @Krystyna23040
Appreciate that.
I have decided that seeing as the tiktok link is just a couple of words are not taking up much space in the post I will put both links in. I had no idea how either sites were going to display the link until I actually posted my post!

I did manage a 10 minute drowse before the phone rang to announce an emergency. Alistair phoned from Prague to say that their eldest daughter, who had been keeping on top of the laundry work while they were away (allergic to dogs so she couldn't look after Hugo) had had an anaphylactic episode while in the laundry. Luckily her younger brother was there and was able to give her the required Epipen injection but he still had to call an ambulance for her. It came pretty quickly and she was carted off to hospital, where she recovered and was much better this morning. However, that left 18 year old B with the laundry work to finish and deliver back to Stornoway this morning. That's where Neil came in. Transport was needed. We were a few minutes short of leaving for my appointment so had to rush off to pick up the laundry and B while trying not to be late for my appointment. We made it with a little time to spare. Neil and B then went off to deliver the bags of laundry and do some shopping while I had my 2 appointments.

The diabetes nurse no longer uses the system for HbA1c that the hospital used to use. That system was a fingerprick, a drop of blood on a slide and a machine which came up with a result in a few minutes. This nurse takes a syringe of blood and send it away for testing. Results should be back next week and I'll get that over the phone, so no chance to talk about it if I want to. It'll be high anyway, I know.

At least the nurse was able to look up recent blood tests for my eGFR level and my electrolytes from my last blood test. eGFR was 32! Ouch - that's not good. "Oh that's fine for someone of your age. We're not worried about that. In any case it's up from the previous level which was 26." That means I had stage 4 Kidney disease about 6 or so months ago and nobody considered that I ought to know that. Even now, it's only up to stage 3b. But "Nothing to worry about at your age." A year ago it was 90 and in a pretty good place. At least my sodium and potassium levels have come back to normal - not that I did anything different to make that happen because I didn't know there was anything wrong there either. I wonder why they bother taking blood, especially when it is so difficult to get it out of my veins, when they don't follow up on results.

Interesting. I suppose, inevitably, given that all these lines cross somewhere, I came across King John of England on my father's line. That, of course leads back to William I. I told Neil - he wasn't even remotely impressed. Just kind of rolled his eyes and sighed. He was much more interested in hearing about the Malcolms, MacAlpins and Balliols. Alistair is interested in all kinds of history so he will be interested when he gets home.

A hectic morning @Annb
I hope you can get some rest later x

7.0 this lovely morning except for the strong southerly wind.
I'm hoping for, that the foliage blows away instead of into my garden.
Done a little bit around the garden, but not much to do.

Mrs L is having an extra lie in, as or because of the cricket on the box.

So glad for @SlimLizzy getting an offer.

@gennepher, it's your choice, and he lot will view regardless.
The haircut you should go with is a similar to mine.
Two minutes all over with an electric shaver.

@Annb hope you get some sleep soon.
Am afraid I don't have that problem. Go to bed, sleep. That is it.
Mrs L reckons I could fall asleep on a clothesline.
I think it's cos, I worked shifts for most of my working life.

@JohnEGreen get them bloods sorted,

@ianpspurs good luck tonight.

@dunelm love the art.

@jjraak stay away from those foreign websites. You know it makes sense.

@Krystyna23040 we did once have a pooch that started have seizures and fits.
They were horrible.
It is so horrible, cos your are worried about the poor thing doing harm while it's happening, avoiding the mouth, whilst trying to hold it in clear space.
Went to vets, obviously and even though, in good health, the vet gave us meds for him, which was quite expensive. Told probably grow out of them
The fits continued.
Another few visits to vets.
It started to become very expensive for meds and appointments.
Unfortunately, we had to choose either the meds or the appointments.
In fact, both went, the reasoning behind it, was nothing changed, for so long was changing, no appointments first then we lowered the dosage.
The vet told me in no uncertain terms, that the dog needed both. I said it was just not possible.
Anyway, the fits stopped after we reduced the meds and they ran out and still no fits.
I phoned the vet to tell him they had stopped.
He didn't believe me. And told me to restart the meds.
I didn't.
I phoned the PDSA(?) And asked for advice.
Their vet said, the meds were necessary at first, but should not be for more than three months.
I never went back to those vets.
With my other dogs, I found a better one.
The dog named Ben, lived to sixteen. And never had another fit or seizure.

Best wishes to you lot as always.
Have a thrilling Thursday.

I like my curls now...they are staying....
@Lamont D

We also have a relatively short time, just under three months to find and buy, ourselves an alternative home.
That is a very tall order. But if I remember correctly there was a townhouse I think on the edge of a town what you looked at some time ago which you both thought might be suitable.

Should Mr slim be coming back to help you?
Or would you prefer to do the searching for the next property on your own, because that is what I would much prefer to do and have done @SlimLizzy

A bit extra to add @SlimLizzy

Make a checklist of all the boxes you need ticked for your next property.
And ask Mr slim to do the same kind of thing and return it to you before the weekend...
Just an idea.
