I did doze a little this afternoon, but was busy so couldn't spare too long on relaxation. Busy making soups, which used some big stock pots and saucepans. Once the cooking was done, all that large equipment had to be washed up - too big for the dishwasher. Not helped by the fact that walking was more difficult than usual today. BG stayed high until late afternoon, when it suddenly dropped to 5.6. Didn't stay there very long though and I've just had an alarm that it's rising again.

Good morning everyone on a cold and overcast start to VE80. We have a flag in the front garden - and why not.
5.9 this a.m.
Bin lorry has been and gone. Bits of detritus recovered from their wake and now our bin is already taking in rubbish.
Mrs Miggins at the opticians inside a large ASDA store several miles away this morning. I shall go with her and wander round the store while she busies herself choosing frames, dropping odd items into random trollies and ask staff for the whereabouts of odd exotic items.
We plan to go for lunch afterwards where they are offering 25% discount on the production of Veterans ID cards.
Art bit - some poppies. I shall be thinking about an uncle of mine today who missed out on VE Day as he was still engaged with the Japanese in Burma. A lovely man who taught us all to swim.
I hope that your day includes some joy mine has already been filled with the smell of koffy and the stretching exercises gained by hanging out the washing.
Beautiful poignant poppies @dunelm

Today began slightly misaligned, as if the world was just a fraction out of step.
Before I even left the bungalow, I had to wrestle with my cochlear sound processor - it wouldn’t work, and my iPad showed a message saying it was faulty and needed returning to the audiologist. After nearly an hour of fiddling, cleaning, and hoping, I finally got it working again. That was before I’d even stepped outside.

I went to the chemist to collect my prescription, and despite them having it over a week and a half they had still not attempted to make it up. Come back in two hours, she said, go and do some shopping first.

But I had needed the toilet and I had to return home...
Back out later, (I don't like being out later because it saps my energy with all the people around), I realised it was VE Day...something I hadn’t remembered...so when I went back out, the car parks were full, and there were too many people. Two of my regular parking spots had vanished, too: someone had taken down a garden wall to create a new driveway, which meant less access for me to the main road.

The heat made it worse. My chest felt tight, and I struggled to breathe comfortably all afternoon. I was too exhausted to do anything more. I slept a lot and, apart from a quick look at some emails and two Co-op letters, I’ve done almost nothing.

One highlight: my journals arrived, and they’re far better than expected—especially the cheerful thinner ones. They even included a postcard, which gave me the idea to decorate the covers with favourite cards and draw around them. That’s a thought for tomorrow.

Tonight, the window is open, the air is cooling, and I’m resting with a yoghurt ice lolly in hand.

Creative is a photo of a dandelion gone to seed...

Night night...sweet dreams...

9.1 today. Warmed hands vigorously & achieved success on first stab! Hubby noticed yesterday that my hands are much colder than his, even though they feel fine to me. So I may have the answer, although it adds an annoying 10 minutes to the chore...

Adding a 2nd daily metformin tablet today so let's hope the days of double figure readings are behind me.

Blow the dandelion head and make a wish that the pharmacy starts texting people when prescriptions are ready like ours does.

Good morning everyone on a wonderfully sun shiny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.7 this a.m.
We will be out in this sunshine this morning but will lard up my skin with factor 50 and wear a hat; “a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me”.
A doubly appointment this afternoon; diabetes review and then asthma clinic. So, the prospect of another walk into town - what fun!
Art bit, I think that this is the last of the scraps of paper - for now at least.
Will your day go well? Mine is usually just a daisy chain of events and taken one at a time. Next in line is koffy.

Morning all from a wonderfully blue skied L.A. where the heating kicked in this morning for the first time in a while. No known fbg as I was waiting for feedback from my last CT Scan which came yesterday - all stable thanks be to God.(will Abbott need to hire more temporary staff now?) Spurs won last evening . JKP has covid quite badly and has wisely taken to her bed. She may need an operation on her back and yesterday was the anniversary of my parents' death - mixed day. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you for sharing your art and creatives. We have had both a new washing machine and tumble drier since I was last in charge of affairs so I probably need to whatsapp her for instructions. First, I need to find the salmon. Enjoy the almost warm weather, obviously apart from your bizarre bungalow @gennepher.

10.1 at 04.00 today. 10.5 at the moment. Expecting some friends for a soup-and-a-roll brunch, so no breakfast so far. I did, however, sneak 2 digestive biscuits to have with a cup of coffee a couple of minutes ago - took plenty of insulin to go with it but it's too early to see what it will do to my BG.

It's actually warm here today and a cloudless sky. I've actually left off my big sweater today. Thermostat is set at 17 but it's reading 19 - that's just with the heat of the house. To me, that's pretty warm.

Hugs for JKP @ianpspurs
Glad CT scan was good results.

It is not just my bungalow in this road, other bungalows are the same for too hot...

And neither Midnight, nor any of the other stray cats will come in the bungalow when it's this kind of heat...

So glad that the scan came back as stable, Ian but sorry that JKP has Covid. Yes, when it's a bad dose, bed is the best place. Some TLC is indicated, but I see you already have that in hand.

Resting today.
Too much pollen...

Creative is the photo from yesterday, but I wanted to add some dandelion seeds to it and it took me awhile to find them... so here we are with dandelion seeds flying....

Nap time...

Cuppa tea time...

I have been having nightmares over this Co-op credit card thing... they keep insisting there is a direct debit in place but cannot find it. I insist I have never had a direct debit with them, but they won't accept that. Every payment I have made to the Co-op have been either over-the-counter from my bank, or once I did Internet banking with my bank, I transferred the money when I got the Co-op bill, which registers as 'Payment Received - Thank you' on the Co-op statement'.

And when I looked on my newly created online Internet account with them, I found that the Co op had attempted to claim a direct debit payment, but from where I do not know because the bank details are not there. And it said 'payment made thank you'. But nothing has been taken out of my actual bank account. And then a moment later on my online Co op credit card statement, it said 'payment reversal' with minus that amount. I owe absolutely nothing on my Co op credit card. And that is how it is going to stay for the time being, I won't be using it.

And so this saga goes on...

My nightmares were like seeing a black sky with these random strings of numbers floating around and then connecting up with another random string of numbers to try and see if that was a bank account they, whoever they are, could take out from this random bank account... this nightmare was very real.... and I don't feel like trusting any of this stuff again...

For some reason this with the random strings of numbers in my nightmare, made me think of the book...The Ghost in the Machine, even though the book has nothing to do with Numbers and digital stuff, it is probably just the title that appeals to me in this....

Was this to do with the hacked stuff with the Co op, even though online they insisted that customers details or accounts were not affected?

The Co-op also said that their shops wouldn't be affected, but something seems to have happened to their ordering system so some stores are not being restocked. These cyber attackers are vile creatures. There are plenty of others, I suppose, but they just don't care about the harm they are doing to ordinary people, perhaps people like themselves, or their own families. Trouble is, our world has left itself open to this, making everything dependent on vulnerable computer systems. If we can't protect ourselves from this, how can we accept putting even more faith in AI? We do though, because we have no choice. The Post Office debacle was only one example of this (not AI, I know, but depending on a computer system - GIGO).
