What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.5 this morning.
We met our new cleaning lady this morning. She was really nice. I knew she would be as she was recommended by the people who do the Church room bookings where I teach my classes in my local village.

It is so lovely having a break from classes as I was feeling really tired last week.

Mrs L is now snoring, another long day, waiting for the wheels of the NHS to make it possible for Mrs L to be back home. I will be joining her shortly.
New and old meds to be sorted with the pharmacy, so they can sort it before this lot runs out. Which will be fun.
Mrs L tried to escape again this morning, and nearly succeeded twice. A bit determined to go for a bit of a walk. If Mrs L won't take any notice of her fella, why would she listen to anyone else?
Thinking of opening a pharmacy. It's ridiculous how much meds are in the house now.
Catch up more tomorrow, if I can..... big appointment tomorrow afternoon with the psychiatrist.
My family have been brilliant!
Best wishes.

Good morning everyone on an all things bright and beautiful start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.

5.8 this a.m.

I have been in France visiting my mother, back last night. Weather wasn’t too great but we did get out when the opportunity presented. Lots of batch cooking, some painting, a couple of films and a lot of talking. Had to visit mum’s bank and sign papers for power of attorney - such things are important knowadays. My niece came with us, she is the joint signatory.

How long does a central heating boiler last? Well fourteen years if serviced each year it seems. Carbon monoxide levels during servicing last week are getting too high as is the CO/CO2 ratio and close to having to be shut down. “Oh what a circus”. Never mind, we will have to have just cut down on breathing and subsist on soup.

Hope you are as well as your body permits. I shall have kofee and marvel at just how good it is to have the sun on your face.

Morning all from a boutique cinema here in L.A. currently showing The Gruffalo for a select invited audience. They (individually) pre- ordered porridge with banana and cinnamon* bagel for the post-viewing "event." Meanwhile, in other news, my fbg was 4.2 which like the readings all evening was an interesting result after eating lasagne - admittedly only 132 gms (yes, I weighed it and calculated the carbs). Topped out at 5.9 on libre, 5.7 at 2 hrs, but was mainly around 5.3. @dunelm the hug was for the boiler needing replacing. @Lamont D good news on Mrs L coming home. @Krystyna23040 good news on the break and new cleaning lady and hope all goes well for Mr K when the op comes. More tea is needed along with my normal peanut butter and Jarlsberg, so I will end now. Enjoy your Tuesday and peace be with you.
* and raisin Granddad, don't forget the raisins

5.6 this morning. I use a Contour Next; my average Fbg over the last 90 days is 5.9, over the last 30 it’s 5.7. I started on Forxiga a year ago as part of a clinical trial. It has taken about nine months to really kick in. But nowadays I have to be really careless food wise to hit more than 6 mmol first thing. Also, my bg used to rise to about 8 after exercise. Nowadays not more than 6.5.
However, all this monitoring … how do people keep it from being a stress factor? Why do I still get annoyed if my fbg hits even 5.9? (In the past I was happy with below 7!)

Welcome to this thread @JonathanDenmark. Well done on your journey so far. The level where annoyance kicks in is a variable feast. As for testing, whilst it is a stressor it seems to have served you well so relax and enjoy a hot beverage of choice

Good to see you back. Pity about your boiler though (hug for that and the inconvenience). Hope your Mum is well and you enjoyed your visit.

You have so much to do and the extra worry over Mr K is bound to make you feel tired. Good to see that you have someone to help with the house at least.

Good to see you here @JonathanDenmark. I find it a bit stressful if I don't have my CGM available. Fingerpricks are a pain (in the fingers) and I'm never really sure where I'm at. Very good readings - really well done. I'd be very happy with those figures. I'd be delighted to be below 7 much of the time.

8.1 when I struggled to sit upright this morning. Dropped to 7.5 by the time I crabbed my way through to the kitchen and my painkillers (02.50). Up a bit now to 7.9 but I've just had insulin and breakfast so it should go down a bit.

Neil has just gone out to help a young friend of my friend. He is a young Asian, asylum seeker man (not sure where from) who is learning to drive. My friend has been taking him out to practice his driving, but she's working at school today and needed someone to take over for a day or so (driving test approaching fast and he has much to learn yet). So Neil has agreed to take over for a day or so. Clutch control is a bit of a problem, as well as changing gear at the right moment and, I noticed yesterday, letting go the handbrake a bit too early. Maybe he'll take more notice of Neil when he points these things out to him.

Another death - again younger than me. Funeral will be next week. Brilliant man. He was a doctor and psychiatrist, author of several papers and a lovely man. I can't go but it will be a very big funeral. Oh my, I do feel old with so many younger people dropping like flies this month.

It never rains but it pours. Just received the result of last week’s hæmaglobin test, the national bowel cancer screening. Massively positive. So my next stop will be a colonoscopy. Though I hope it is a false high due to my careless sampling technique …

Good morning all. fbs today was 11.5. I received a message yesterday from the diabetes team saying they had received a referral from my GP and asking me to contact them about an appointment. I did so and was told I would receive a letter 4 weeks before my appointment but it would be next year. Only 2 more days of 4x/day finger pricks before my appointment with my GP with the results. Today's challenge is how to record the information in a way that is easily readable in a 10 minute appointment. I will have been writing my food consumed, times and after tests for 2 weeks in my diary but need to tabulate them somehow. At least my cold symptoms are improving and my oxygen levels are out of the 80's so my brain has started to function again! The rest of me is still on catch up! Best wishes to all for the best day you can have.

Thank you @ianpspurs . You had amazingly good BG readings after the lasagne

Another stressful long day from around 5.30am.
FBG is 6.1.
Quite a few phone calls to pharmacy and carer services to get back into normality, as such as it is.
This afternoon's appointment was quite enlightening, found out that the brain scan done whilst an inmate, was very similar to the last two done in the last two years, so that is good, also a diabetic drug has been taken off cos one of the side effects is potentially leading to infection. However any drug that also has side effects, cannot be taken off, but hopefully can be reduced over time.
Also, more tests as usual for Mrs L, and a chest x-ray in a few weeks to see if the infection has returned. Her mobility is better and is so hungry Horace.
Sorry, gotta go, carer is here.
Best wishes.

Thank you @Annb. I have been feeling guilty for ages that my wanting to continue running my classes way way past retirement age was putting so much work onto Mr K.

I have been trying to persuade Mr K for ages to get some help but he has stubbornly refused - but has now decided that it will make life much easier in the future.
