What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning everyone, we, that's me and madam, woke with 7. It's hardly surprising since I had bread!!!! and then there was the Stilton and 2 glasses of port to go with it. I take some of the blame but Mr B has to shoulder some as well as he decided to go to Paul and buy the bread....and I might as well blame Renault too as the port was brought back in the boot from the visit to Porto. The small winery Quinta Santa Eufemia was just too hard to resist. I loved Porto and the metro, trams and funicular and getting around was so easy. We left Renault at the hotel and brought back the spoils of visiting at the end of the day as driving in the city was manic and getting out a test of nerves. Madam BG was quite high most of the time so it was a real delight to spend time in much quieter Viseu, centre of the Dao region. Boot was filled from there too.
The wine and port is being drunk more than a little too liberally at the moment!! still we did drive into Spain and France after Viseu and the Renault has a big boot.

Morning all. So yesterday was 32 gms total carbs and 16.5 net carbs - fbg = 5.8. I would say an epic fail on bg level. If this were a weight loss forum I wouldn't hesitate to extol it's virtues - admirable body composition and bmi stats. Trouble is, I don't need anymore weight loss but I do very much want better bg control - my A1c remains far too close to supposed diabetic point for me.
COYS - get the duck in
Edited to add: @SueJB I hereby absolve you from all blame on account of the food and wine being real/authentic or whatever label the lace twitchers hereabouts decide is the elixir of life.

All the names and numbers look amazing but I've absolutely no idea what they mean. I get my lipid stats every 6 months when I see the diabetic consultant. They tell me if they're OK, which they have been for the last 18months when I've been eating, in their terms low carb. I take statins and have asked to be taken off them.... NO

Statins don't bother me and we also had our children vaccinated plus strongly hope all our grandchildren have the same. I also believe in climate change. Perhaps I am entirely the wrong demographic for this forum

Morning All. Like @HarrisonK I am 6.1 today.
Goodness all these water leaks @SaskiaKC and @gennepher (glad normal order has been restored).. The House of Commons have a similar problem, there were dramatic pics on tv yesterday of gushing water behind the Speakers chair.
I dont really know what to think of cholesterel and statins. My cholesterel levels increased last time so I have dialled back on fats which dont agree in large quantities anyway. So far I have resisted statins but I now need to concentrate on anything that helps my eye health as a priority.
Have a great Thursday. Better weather here. Stay well, stay safe.

I woke up late 8am
8.9 fbg
I am happy with that after all recent events.

But waking up late meant I missed half of bin day.

The recycle had already been collected.

But I managed to get the black rubbish wheelie bin out in time...in the pouring ran...

Back in bed with soggy moggy, chocolate, and coffee with cream....

Got Hildegard plainchant on to try and wind down.

Have a good day.

Morning all. An 8.1 greeted me at 8.45 this morning. No point in analysing any more. It is what it is -no matter what I eat/ don't eat! Off to do our volunteering after checking in on mum. Short of volunteers today so may be asked to do more than usual to keep the ball rolling and up to 90 people fed. Have a good day everyone .

First of all congratulations to Spurs on reaching the champions league final what a result in Amsterdam last night fantastic

Unfortunately I was born with pancreas divisum which means my pancreas was split and in subsequent investigations in my 20s it was split almost into 2 pieces,

Take care
Ian

You have got me thinking about statins. Spent a long time reading up on Retinal vein occlusion which is the reason I need course of antiVEGF injections. Although I couldnt find that statins helped this condition I did find there was strong link of people having RVO going on to have CVD in all its forms. Because my late mother was dx T2 and had a TIA six months before she died of stroke before her time think I am going to change my mind on statins. Btw I strongly agree with childhood vacs and climate change too.

I think you are entirely the right demographic for this forum.

Good morning, peeps (still technically morning in the other Eden, for about 30 more minutes, I believe?). @jjraak you were right, eating a banana before one remembers to check one's FBG does not spike one's FBG as long as one is still chewing the aforementioned banana when one remembers and checks one's FBG).

I am quoting "If" to myself this morning as I wait for a maintenance man to appear and repair the leak on my toilet tank. One mm gets here at 6:00 am but for some reason has not yet appeared; another comes on duty at 7:30. The hot water that went out last night has been repaired; in my opinion a leaky toilet is just as much of an emergency but whatever. It is, as XSO used to say, what it is. And I am trying to keep my head while all about me are actually NOT about me in any sense of the phrase -- but oh! I just looked out the window and there is an absolutely lovely rose-pink-and-blue glow across the sky, blue sky behind pink and grey clouds, a sunrise such as I have seldom seen, or maybe never seen until this morning. The sky is lightening even as I type.

Right. Carry on. Pip pip?

5.8 for me this morning. Haven’t been testing for a few days as I was running low on strips, and just got a bit fed up doing it to be honest.
I am very strongly pro vaccination too @ianpspurs and @PenguinMum I can go on quite a rant about it given half a chance.
The jury in my head is out re statins though. I stopped taking them around a year ago as there didn’t seem to have been a valid case for putting me on them. All lipid screen is normal/ ideal so I’ve stopped thinking about it and don’t have strong views either way about whether others should take them.
Climate change seems real enough but I’m not very well informed on it.

I am planning on spending today doing what you did yesterday.

Your mention of Tottenham reminded me that I have not seen @Goonergal around treading the board in a long time. I hope she is well.

Thanks!

6.1 today. Expected this. But pleasantly surprised with my bs yesterday. Relatives here. 2 days of chatting, eating and drinking. They come from Dublin and love our fish and chips. Chippy tea was on the menu. Mmmmmm challenging for me. I could have made myself a salad but I felt an experiment in order. Lightly battered fish, 6 chips, spoonful of mushy peas. That, together with lots of nuts and 3 large glasses of red and my bloods were in the 5s all night. Even went as low as 4.8!!! Happy days.

Just a quick post now, no time to even catch up on comments but will have that to look forward to when relatives gone and I've tidied up. Full Irish breaky this morning (everything brought all the way from Dublin!). Great way to start the day.

Have a great day everyone.

Just had to pass my excitement around. Rejoice with me! I just tested at 4.6!! After ballet class and a piece of my brown bread soaked in olive oil. I may not see that number again so I am reveling in it. I think I'm finding my "goodest foods".
“Goodest foods” - is there a branch in my area?

Wow Gennepher that little cat is adorable and looks so young. I never knew cats could live beyond 20 years. What is the secret?
