All the names and numbers look amazing but I've absolutely no idea what they mean. I get my lipid stats every 6 months when I see the diabetic consultant. They tell me if they're OK, which they have been for the last 18months when I've been eating, in their terms low carb. I take statins and have asked to be taken off them.... NOHi @SaskiaKC I have been doing this now for almost 4 years. Below are my December 18 lipid stats which are about usual for me -not sure it helps as I am happy to take statins. All the refusers I know of didn't make 80 and had heart problems for years unlike my dad who took them.
Serum cholesterol level 4.1 mmol/L
Serum triglyceride levels 0.76 mmol/L [0.3 - 1.8] brackets are uk guidelines
Serum HDL cholesterol level 1.86 mmol/L
Serum LDL cholesterol level 1.89 mmol/L
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio 2.2
Serum non high density lipoprotein cholesterol level 2.24 mmol/L
Statins don't bother me and we also had our children vaccinated plus strongly hope all our grandchildren have the same. I also believe in climate change. Perhaps I am entirely the wrong demographic for this forumAll the names and numbers look amazing but I've absolutely no idea what they mean. You are not short of diabetic ups and downs to negotiate @Cumberland. Is it the Cumberland genes, long time dealing with T1 or just chance that makes you so friendly and good at keeping people like me grounded? Whatever it is, hope things settle down for you and keep being a top.top fella.
You have got me thinking about statins. Spent a long time reading up on Retinal vein occlusion which is the reason I need course of antiVEGF injections. Although I couldnt find that statins helped this condition I did find there was strong link of people having RVO going on to have CVD in all its forms. Because my late mother was dx T2 and had a TIA six months before she died of stroke before her time think I am going to change my mind on statins. Btw I strongly agree with childhood vacs and climate change too.Statins don't bother me and we also had our children vaccinated plus strongly hope all our grandchildren have the same. “Goodest foods” - is there a branch in my area?Just had to pass my excitement around. Rejoice with me! I just tested at 4.6!! After ballet class and a piece of my brown bread soaked in olive oil. I may not see that number again so I am reveling in it. I think I'm finding my "goodest foods".
Wow Gennepher that little cat is adorable and looks so young. I never knew cats could live beyond 20 years. What is the secret?I love his little heart shaped nose. He is 26 years old, and will be 27 years old at the end of May. He is very agile and mobile for his age. He was the only surviving kitten of my all black cat Amethyst (Ammy for short), the other kitten died at birth, it looked so perfect and I still remember holding it, and stroking it, even after all these years. I’ve always thought Popeye somehow took on the additional 9 lives of his sibling.
Hopefully your problem with water will get sorted quickly. Anything with water is fraught.
Naughty butterfly spreading those water ripples!!!!
