@SaskiaKC Goodnight and pleasant Edward Lear dreams. Like the sack I seem to remember it was "plenty of money wrapped up in a five pound note" does the poem mention that over your way or is changed to dollars?

Happy world diabetes day (keeping it positive!)

4.9

Today I sent an email to Chris Evans (virgin radio). I would love to join him on his show to spread the word. Very funny guy.

Here is that very email for info

Hi Chris

Hope you are feeling ok after your procedure. From what I've read you are feeling fab so looking good.

Today is world diabetes day. Its world diabetes month.

We have on our hands an epidemic. And the papers are today full of articles about obesity rates doubling in 20 years.

The sad thing is it's not our fault.

The high carb (full of sugar) low fat (full of sugar) guidelines came in about the same time as figures got bigger (stats AND people). For things to change THIS has to change.

I thought I ate quite healthily. Wholemeal bread, jacket potatoes, cereals with all those healthy symbols on the boxes. Couldn't understand why I was putting weight on. Turns out I made some very bad choices. Those choices made me poorly. I became a type 2 diabetic.

SUGAR STUFFED IN PRACTICALLY EVERYTHING. ITS CHEAP FOR PRODUCERS TO DO THAT.

Anyway, I was offered medication on diagnosis. I asked for time to see if I could do something myself. I Googled reversing diabetes and found the solution was low carb. Never looked back. And my mission in life now is to help others.

My journey to spread the word has been shared in many media outlets.

And more besides. I'm working with many surgeries to help other patients to reverse their diabetes, lose weight and mindfulness. Patients helping patients, social prescribing initiatives. Happy to help when and where I can.

I've developed a leaflet (4 pages) to help others control blood sugars and lose weight. Low carb healthy fat.

I'm also doing talks across the north west. Sharing my journey in the hope of helping others.

I do all this out of my own pocket although i'm hoping to get some sort of funding to help me start up a low carb group in the community. That's a work in progress.

I've been invited to speak about my journey at the health and wellbeing event at the tower ballroom event on 25th November (I knew I wouldnt get there for my dancing). I'm really looking forward to it. Blackpool has many challenges, it may be a damp squid with tumbleweed blowing around the dancefloor but its sending out positive vibes.

On my journey a friend prompted me to contact you. To see if you could help me spread the word. So here I am.

My name is Debra Scott and i am a type 2 diabetic in remission. I class myself as having reversed it but i know i cant go back to my old way of eating. But thankfully real food rocks!

If you can do anything by way of helping me help others that would be much appreciated.

Thanks for listening.

Me and hubby did. Enjoyed every second although so sad in many parts, including James's song. He himself was emotional singing it. He was feeling every single word. It was so well put together the whole show. Wonderful.

Nothing's off thread on here. That's the beauty of it. Your post took me back to Tours. Magical memories made in my beloved France. Thank you.

Beautiful poem. Made me cry.

I get you. It is so commercial. Too much so. Enjoy Vietnam. Reminds me of my second favourite westend show miss Saigon (1st is les Mis which incidentally the staged show on at the odeon 2/12 and I've got my tickets ) But me and my family have something very special in our Christmas. We have lovely traditions. Not expensive or revolving around money. For me its spending quality time together. Eating amazing food. And drinking far too often (so many meet ups with friends to celebrate the festive season). Love it. Eric has heart xmas playing in the car! I'm singing along and encouraging 3 year old granddaughter to as well.

Great post! I feel your pain. I turned my back for a few hours, hey presto 212 posts behind! Must crack on, another 180 to read!!

Very sad. But so well remembered. Your words brought them back to life. A very special post indeed.

Bargain. Just a note to all that if insurance bought through compare the market you can get tickets for odeon Tuesday Wednesday 2 for 1 so works out at £2.50 each. Even the cheapest insurance (weeks holiday) should do it. Sharing the love.

Speaking of bargains, my virgin media had gone up to £133 a month. Phoned them, threatened to leave. Offered reduction to £121. Put in a complaint (newbies get to pay much less and not fair). Got a call. £99. Faster speed too. I do this for all insurances too. On receipt of renewal letter. They should offer best price but they dont. Its wrong.

You've just reminded me I have some bella Italia vouchers to use up (from Tesco clubcard). Thanks re the choccy recommendation. My fave at mo is tesco no sugar 90% with stevia. Dreamy!

Morning all - chilly, wet 'n all. 5.3 @ 5.15. @trick60 splendiferous fbg; @Muddy Cyclist best wishes for the HbA1c later. Good session on exercise bike done, cooling off before shower - sublime moment listening to sweet baby James (no 2 son's name and most like me). Cold here but this is what next week promises for me (28 there today but I had to wait for treatment to end)

@SaskiaKC day to remember Samuel Seabury from among the dear departed saints. be strong and he shall comfort your heart;
