Greetings, everyone. :) 6.8 this morning (1 decimal point down from yesterday), so I am still encamped by Six Rivers Falls, this morning in a fog that looks like fat-free milk. 1 degree outside -- brrrrrrrrrr!

@trick60 Thank you for telling me about your mattress. The score is now Sprung 4, Foam 0. I love the tale of the "reconciliation bed." :) I bet y'all could patent it and make a family fortune!

Thank you, everybody, for your feedback about mattresses. I hope to go furniture-shopping tomorrow and try every mattress in the store.

@PenguinMum and @HarryBeau The KittenCat is beginning her training today. Wish us luck! This morning she woke me up meowing again. I keep repeating "HUSH" and refusing to get out of bed until she stops meowing. As soon as she does, I get up and go to her; if she starts up again I repeat "HUSH" and I don't feed her until she is quiet. She has dry food out 24/7 and I leave some treats out for her overnight, so she is certainly not being starved -- I just want to stop the morning meowing. Especially on mornings when we have been up past three o'clock. The pet rules at the new apartment building say "no caterwauling cats," and while she isn't LOUD, she is persistent.
Bobs and Daisy send loud meows to the KC in solidarity but think its advisable to comply with the new rules. I dont think you should worry about her being loud in the new apartment though she may wonder why you are both somewhere new.

Fbg 6.5

My painting for today...
Brushes used are at the top...
These are all thinnish washes mostly to create this.
You can see one of the brushes is cracking on the handle. It is because I leave them in water as I am working.
I wanted another set...but they came direct from China.........(a couple of years ago)....

My garden needs a tidy up from these high winds battering us....
Have fun
Hugs if you need them
Take care
Love it, idyllic. Want to meander through those trees on a lovely summers day listening to birdsong.

Thank you for your encouraging words. :) And thanks also about the mattress. That is now 2-0 against a foam mattress. :) I haven't been able to find anything about this particular one online, other than customers' reviews; unlike the Wolf, and another brand that I can see and sample locally. And the one I posted does cost more than the other others I've liked online.
Here in the US it is also possible to try out a mattress for some weeks. :)
I may just go with one of the old standard innerspring brands -- what y'all call sprung ones? -- with the coils inside, either in pockets or just linked to each other.
Recently bought a new mattress which had a top cover of memory foam with a coil innerspring. Quite firm which is what we prefer. Wasn't very expensive though so may have limited life. Supposed to be guaranteed 10 years though.

@SaskiaKC , what a wealth on talent on here..poem, very nice.
and good luck on the Princess and the Pea quest..:D

Thank you, on both counts. :)
I love your Princess and the Pea reference; that is exactly what I have been thinking as I read ads for mattresses and reviews of them. "Have we all turned into princesses?" I've asked myself. "Is there a pea in every mattress?"
Giant, mutant peas, it seems.

What mattresses need are mushy peas.
As for me, I have never met a mattress I didn't like (so far!) -- like @trick60, I can sleep on anything.

I like firm mattresses too.

7.30 am FBG 5.9
yoghurt and raspberries last night and an exceptionally relaxed evening?
Still under six though :)
Very windy here this morning and we haven't got the full brunt of the storm.
Stay safe and warm people.
Well done on the numbers.

MEOW MEOW to Bobs and Daisy.
^. .^. .^

My brain is like a puppy; if it doesn't have something to worry at it will go looking for something. Sigh.

Just eaten brunch cooked on the new camping gas stove. Lights came back on just as I dished up. I rhink its going to be on and off until the storm passes tonight. Shocking out there but two adults and two felines fed and watered and cosy inside. Hope you are all ok, @gennepher are you still on the grid and you and Popeye safe and well?
It is bad out here @PenguinMum
My garden has been re arranged by the wind. Including some bushes blown over.
We have electric power. I have a camping stove in the garage just in case, but to be honest I would be too scared to connect those gas cannisters....
We just had a massive driving hailstorm. That would have been lethal if you were out walking...
Glad your new camping stove worked well.
You take care.

5.6 again, think the needle's stuck.

We seem to be getting the weather worse today than yesterday which turned out not so bad. Been hoying it down here with thunder and lightening to boot. Was really windy but suddenly seems to have died down. Hope its moving past.
@Muddy Cyclist forgot to say loved the snowdrops.
@ianpspurs - good to see you are in your new home - hope you settle in quickly.
@Chris12345. Just to say welcome. I am relatively new to this thread but enjoying it immensely (even if I cant keep up with the posts) hope you will join us.
@jjraak - No Oz for me today - well strapped in the chair and only moving to the kettle and back.

Some of you may remember my watercolour sea scape commission A1 size. Well being kept in by the storm inspired me to start it. However I managed to finish it, almost A1, well it will be once I get a 2 inch border around it and the frame so a bit of a cheat. So here it is and I ain't doing another so they had better like it.....

@Chris12345 welcome to this crazy mixed up corner of the forum.

@jjraak and @gennepher can I arrive in my VW campervan, cooker, fridge, own electricity (well at least for 3 days) an outside gas hob and a gas Caddac ( BBQ type of thing) and I can always fill my large onboard water tank with Gin. Starts to make the apocalypse sound quite attractive.

@gennepher lovely Spring light captured today, always a challenge trying to capture that green/yellow light, you caught it well, like it.

They should love your painting. It is beautiful.

Hi... daft question as just stumbled onto this thread. What target readings are you guys working to for first thing in morning, pre meals and 2 hour post prandial?

as said all differ..but i like to be in the 5's if possoble in morning FBG.....lower isn't were i feel comfortable
happy with a low 6 if i must..over and above i usually can find a reason, foods, late night with the boys, etc

for post food, i like it to be in the 2.0+/- mmol mark..as in start 5,0 finish 2 hrs later at 7.0
i've been higher, but then i look at the food/portion sizes and go "Yup that'll cause it.. "
and adjust next time.

but we all differ.

For newcomers to the WOE, i wouldn't be too concerned by the morning Numbers being higher

That number is usually the last to come down, and in my mind the higher numbers suggest we are squeezing out some of the excess glucose hence the rise..

CONTINUED High numbers, however, after eating, then i would be concerned IF i didn't take action to stop or lower the occasions.or perhaps get checked to see if i had been misdiagnosed..does happen

bear in mind we got HERE over a good many years, maybe even decades, so the damage can come over the same time frame perhaps ?

The link below my signature," jenny ruhr, does diabetes always get worse."

the answer is a resounding NO..BUT she does explain how damage can be caused, and she suggests and i have no reason to disbelieve that, at the 8+ marker damage to nerves, blood vessels etc CAN occur.

Brilliant I love that wild seascape @Muddy Cyclist
Wild seas are my thing...

(mentioning NO names, but i think we BOTH KNOW who i mean...;) )

years of reading up and prepping for the big day and NOW we got a ZOMBIE wagon..incredible stuff.

have to agree, going to be kind of gutted / disappointed ( in a spike milligan way,)
if the Zombie apocalypse DOESN'T come true, at least in parts....:hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

* Dont know whether to fortify the car for the journey ala the taxi on 28 days

* Kit out the bike with a crossbow, ala daryl in TWD...

OR

* Go full jasper carrot on the Moped/scooter and hope for the best....:D
