If someone has the right to insist that you accept their faith as the Truth then you have the right to voice your opinion for or against.

According to the Abrahamic mythology, free will was not a gift, it was stolen and humanity shouldn't have it hence being cast out and cursed.

Your final destination is not determined by your actions according to the creatrix of the Abrahamic Trilogy, but rather, is dependant on solely believing in (and loving) one of its three aspects and warring with everyone else. You can be a saintly person but if you're not on their 'team' it's straight into the fire.

However, people decided to bring religion into this thread. Just do what you said and live your life according to your own plan but never apologise for doing so :)

Yes, we can have our own opinions, let's see how long that is respected.

as with the religion and politics, perhaps they do cause discourse, elsewhere, but i don't see that happening in here, tbh.

while i am happy to see painting i can't paint or dogs i don't have, i can still appreciate the feelings and sentiments behind those posting....the Same with both viewpoints re believe or don't believe, and then again into the various religions..
it's an expression of faith and i think we all accept we may all see the world through a slightly different prism due to our backgrounds/upbringing ec

Where ever we hail spiritually, we are all good of heart in the main..
( well, we all have off days, of course ;)......wot, just ME..:wideyed: oops :bag:)

May we all be blessed by the religion of friendship & Comradeship, whether we choose to worship ONE deity or NONE, on this most interesting of journeys.

Peace be the journey,
live long & prosper.

Thank you, @jjraak, that is so cool! :) It looks like so much fun. It's funny that he's wearing a helmet (always a good practice when riding on solid ground) -- will it keep that crocodile from biting his head off? :D

In my favorite series of horse books two girls often take their ponies out to the beach and swim them in the ocean. It always sounds like fun to me -- and since they are in East Sussex I don't guess they have to worry about crocodiles. ;)

I agree as long as faith is not purported to be fact.

The very definition of faith describes the 'why of it', and when it is pushed as a fact I reserve the right to challenge it or support anyone who appears to be intimidated by it irrespective of my own belief.

My understanding of comparative religion is at graduate level, which is probably why I am an atheist and as I said, there is nothing wrong with having a mythology until a person uses it as a form of 'force majeure', something we are not seeing in the art you've mentioned.

Politeness of faith must exist on all sides, using the thread as a bible class is a form of 'fundamentalism' to those of other faiths or no faith.

EDIT to include a passage from the terms & conditions here (bold is mine)

6.8 - result of 3 spoons of banoffee with a coffee n cream in a cafe yesterday. Not sure why I did it. Didnt have dessert even on holiday! Eric n me shared. It was his fault actually Haha. His BP has been amazing on keto. We both just fancied the look of it. Anyway bs went up to 9 and came down quite slowly. Could have been worse (they weren't small spoons!).

Obviously still in my blood today.

Anyway every cloud. I got a facebook message from diabetes UK saying.....drum roll....I'm one of their top fans. I almost spat my tea out laughing!!!

Brilliant re DUK! As a ‘top fan’ they say others can more easily see your comments - they won’t like that! Are you unblocked now?
Sorry about the banoffee effect but I think we all need to fall off the wagon every now and then - wouldn’t be human if we didn’t and it was only a minor hitch in an otherwise very impressive record.

I would be so happy if I could Saskia. But I would hope that your previous occupant wouldnt leave the water from the sink flowing into the cupboard underneath after ripping out the washing machine connection or leave the inside of the fridge and cupboards so dirty that it would take 4 hours to clean or leave no light bulbs or a load of food wrapping in the garden. I really hope your new apartment is clean and welcoming.

Oh that sounds so depressing! I read in your later posts that both sets of parents were helping with the move so I’m sure between you you’ll have it looking lovely for them to move into. I don’t know how people can be so unneighbourly. You’d think they’d try to make the place look welcoming for the new residents.
Bet you’re all exhausted now, hope you are relaxing with a large gin.

Just to clarify @OldButBold , Fundamentalism is not something i have seen on here,
an expression of someone else's values and beliefs, i may or may not agree with, perhaps,
but i haven't seen instances of bullying due to others beliefs, or seen cases of one view point over riding another..

We all bring our own unique personalities to the table, forged in a lifetime of experiences, and those viewpoints will be many and varied.

but if you have seen instances of such, then please do bring it to peoples attention..

I thought we were all cool little fonzies, and i shall carry on thinking so until proved otherwise.

Fundamentalism is not something i have seen on here,

I don't think you are thinking of fundamentalism in the same vein, here it is paraphrased... " especially biblical inerrancy, which they considered the fundamentals of the Christian faith. Fundamentalists are almost always described as having a literal interpretation of the Bible."

The bold is not mine. Fundamentalism does not infer anything more than an insistence of fact on an issue of faith. There is a massive difference.

When you state as fact that "Leviticus says...." that is a fundamental disclosure if you refuse to accept criticism of what you just said. If you make a statement regarding Genesis and another member queries it and you then force a viewpoint as factual that is also fundamentalist opinion by design.

I accept you are defending members and that is admirable, except I am not attacking anyone. What I'm attacking is the use of faith as fact which is the very definition of fundamentalism.

Why do I find it objectionable? Because it immediately negates any and all alternate viewpoints or discussion and acts as a mechanism of denial of religious freedoms to the person who does not hold with the fundamental view.

If you wish to see this in all its glory then look to the US who, under their new freedom, are making all sorts of 'factual religious statements' that are a pure fantasy that you are not allowed to disagree with.

I totally agree with you on freedom of expression on this thread, but if someone was to suddenly declare that their way of painting waves was the one true way I would object to that too.

Good job it's not in France you would have to wear speedos :joyful:

I have ridden my horse across the River Trent when it's been deep enough to only see her neck and head, never swimming, the real fun starts when they climb out and shake like a dog to get dry, hold on for dear life if you can it's quite energetic but if you are an onlooker move well away.

"Pssst" this thread doesn't have a rail ;):)

I was enjoying that, you offered a good discussion thank you.
I gave you a like but here is a funny also, true about the rail.

I have to say I would enjoy the company of yourself and @jjraak at one of our gatherings some very interesting dinner table chat could be enjoyed, low carb of course.
