If anyone doubts the sinister motives of big pharma companies i.e. profit before patients have a look at the following link
www.theweek.co.uk/us/46535/when-half-million-americans-died-and-nobody-noticed...this link is one of hundreds & was picked at random it happens and we have to be on guard...the statin debate is another issue that needs to be considered very carefully & patients are right to query the need for statins & the benefits before deciding whether or not to take it...we should be & need to be involved in discussions about our care & treatments fully informed is fully protected.

A quote from the linked article:
"It soon turned out Merck had known of potential lethal side effects even before launching Vioxx in 1999, but had brushed all such disturbing tests under the rug."

We are constantly being bombarded with TV commercials by law firms telling us about various products that some company knew had potential lethal side effects but marketed anyway. Two of the current ones are asbestos and Johnson's Baby Powder. Viewers are encouraged to call the law firms to sue the manufacturers of these products.
I remember hearing about only the beneficial features of asbestos as in fire-proof theatre curtains. Something that was supposed to keep buildings -- and the humans in them -- from going up in flames is now known to -- ***** -- kill people by cancer. Same with baby powder -- it helped with painful diaper rash for millions of babies but now -- ***** -- it can cause cancer in now-grown-up baby girls.

How horrible. The delivery guy sounds like a nutcase.
I am relieved and glad you got through it. I knew I was worried about you when you didn't post earlier (after your first very early post). I was worried about you and Popeye.
I have heard crazy bad stories about Amazon delivery drivers, but nothing as horrible as this one.

What looks like an overwhelming sea wave in your painting reminds me of the Seafarer ...

... the mood of my mind moves with the sea-flood
... whelms me with his bidding over deep waters. ...

I am very selfish: I was glad to see you post here in the middle of the night when I could not sleep either, and selfishly I am glad you did not delete your online presence here. I would have been terrified of that Amazon driver ... and furious.
I am very angry @SaskiaKC

4.8 at 3.15am when I woke up to go to the loo. Forgot to test on waking though! When I did test at 9.20am it was 6.3. A bit of DP going on as I had no breakfast (usually get a bit if no breaky)

I'm a little obsessed with the coronavirus at the moment. Following everything closely as my son and his girlfriend are due to fly to Madrid on the 13th. Then my daughter and her family fly to lanzarote on 18th and me and Eric due to fly to Spain on 23rd! If we go will we be able to get back. And if we do will self quarantine be required. Questions questions....

Things changing almost hourly! Never known anything like it.

Wishing everyone involved a speedy recovery if they are ill and really hope businesses get financial help.

Hope everyone is well. Stay safe.

FBG 5.6 this morning.
Well the clinic appointment went well -everything ok, feet healthy, eyes healthy, impressed with bloods- "and you are not on meds you say"?. So thank you those people for your good wishes and encouragement. Never even mentioned cholesterol which I was beating myself up about.

When I was in there, there was this poster from the other website site encouraging people to eat low fat, low cal and starch? A woman had gone in before me and who was struggling to walk That got me riled on her behalf as how can they let people go down the road of chronic progressive without at least giving the option of low carb. Anyway I thought here's a question I should ask, so when I got to see the nurse for my feet check, I said can you tell my why you recommend eating starch, at which she said well starch carbohydrates are different and you need to eat some of them as they give you energy. I said well I have never felt healthier and have plenty of energy eating what I am eating. I said if I eat porridge my bloods shoot up into the 8s so why would I want to do that to my body, I then mentioned I was eating low carb as recommended by the NHS (She had her NHS uniform on) nurse was quite pleasant but copped out at that point and simply said, well from what I can see whatever you are doing is working so keep on doing it. Then she why don't you give yourself a treat sometimes, you don't need to keep your bloods so low, bloods in the 6s are ok, slippery slope came into mind. .(Oh the subtle wiles of the enemy) Anyway it was interesting listening to my ectopic heart beat go de -de.

No cleansing between patients which was interesting, she didnt even wipe down the equipment. Think she felt that everything was overrated. Went to Asda later and found out why everyone is buying toilet paper, apparently its in case of diarrhea, which has some logic I suppose there is some norovirus going around here at present so it could come in handy for that. We all decided on the checkout that if newspaper was good enough for our parents it was probably good enough for us if needs be. When I saw the word starch it actually reminded me of crumpled wall paper for some reason. Plenty of toilet paper in shops today. Hope @gennepher managed to get some provisions.

On a more somber note our town got our first coronavirus case yesterday. It was only a matter of time as there are already cases in Newcastle and many people commute and socialise between the two cities. The person works about a mile from where I live. DIL works just up the road. Hope they are ok.

what a worrying time that was for your girl kitten, sounds like it's under control though, hope medical history comes through for her quickly and all is OK.
She's had something to eat now & a good snooze with Charlie next to her...spoken to Wood Green they will be forwarding her medical history to my vets feeling more positive now.

Got the same issue, we are due to fly to Barcelona on 3rd April, family trip, 12 of us in total. We are flying from Manchester my son, DIL and children are going from Southend. We were going as there are acouple of 40th birthdays this year. There are so many unknowns though although apart from perhaps the plane and airport there is no greater risk than if we stayed at home. Basically just told the family to make their own decision whether they want to go or not.

Oh @gennepher that sounds very weird and understand your distress. He was probs some idiot who just couldnt string two words together wasting time. If you are still worried I wonder if you should report or check with Amazon though I am not sure how useful that would be. Before you do anything check with @HarryBeau as she knows about these things. Shame about the nut butter it seems all or nothing when it comes to packaging at Amazon. Thanks for the digial painting and am glad you found it soothing. Take care gennepher you and Popeye.

Thanks @PenguinMum
I thought about reporting to Amazon but at this stage I decided no. If I see him again and he does something uncomfortable again, then I will.

Or he'll come knocking on your window every morning like the homing pigeon we used to feed. Still she was a beautiful bird black head with a black tufts, white body, black tail feathers, obviously a show bird, neighbor called her Alfie after Sister Alphonse, the local community nun we used to see wandering around the village. She was quite distressed when she first came but we were unable to catch her read the leg ring. After a while, Alfie managed to find herself a boyfriend and it was lovely to see them cooing together and keeping each other warm during the winter, mind you as lovers go he was a bit of a philanderer. Of course feeding the two of them regularly we ended up with a posse, it became like Alfred Hitchcock's film "The Birds" on a morning. Had to stop feeding her eventually and she sloped off.
Well he came back briefly an hour ago but still hasnt eaten his breakfast seeds so I’m pretty sure he’s found another hospitable host :)

Very sad for all the people who died prematurely. They didn't deserve that.
Shocking there is another I read about a couple of days ago it is scandalous...aggressive selling & incentives for the doctors involved (cash) they company rep was being interviewed on TV it led to many deaths all he was prosecuted for was racketing...I'll try to find it often medical reps offer incentives.

@gennepher sorry you had such a scare, some Amazon delivery people are most odd, still can't get over the ones who keep leaving parcels in our recycle bin, very strange. Digital art was interesting although I have to say it is almost as scary as you Amazon encounter, must have been influenced by it. Like the result and experiment though.

Thanks.
I put my feelings into that digital art...so yes.

I like the way your painting is progressing @Muddy Cyclist It is good to see how a painting develops...

One of the reasons I want to move to the little town is that it feels not only peaceful but safe.

The manager finally called me back late this morning -- the "notice" I got in the mail last night was not the "offer" -- that is yet to come, when the maintenance crew have finished cleaning and painting the apartment. So once again I've received the notice to "stand down" when I was all up on my toes ready to go! What is it they say? "Hurry up and wait." :banghead::confused:
I am more like my father and my mother's father. My father -- a former lieutenant-colonel -- liked to get on with things; my grandfather was peripatetic I think by nature. I am a little bit of both natures. :wacky:o_O:singing:
Glad it is proceeding well @SaskiaKC
But a lot red tape to get through.
You will be there soon.
I wish I were moving too,,,

Difficult decisions, I am worrying about our France visit in July especially now our PM says it would help to slow down the C19 peak until summer when the NHS will cope better, does this mean the health professionals are not seeing this so much as a winter type bug. I also have a Reasturant Gift Voucher for a top Birmingham Venue, it runs out in April torn between using it or not. However @Ryhia may be right is there any more of a risk than staying local? Also at 70, T2D and Fibromyalgia I am trying to decide am I at a higher risk, worrying times, but you can't lock yourself away, all very concerning.

Just to let you know @SaskiaKC I probably won't do a painting in the morning early hours tomorrow morning because I do need sleep. But I will probably do a digital painting later in the day. I will do something, but don't know what yet.

Better than Boris and Dom :) Could you show the grandkids The Flowerpot Men on screen...it was a bit insane but probably would amuse them , Grandad’s childhood tv.
Youtube has an episode from 1953 which is before my time.

@Muddy Cyclist thank you for the art and it certainly is fascinating to see how a painting can progress, I have never thought about it that way so you and Gennepher are showing me new things I never knew about. I must admit I found yours yesterday quite ghostly but I was delighted by the update today which was lovely and really made me think.
