Surprising 4.5 for me. Coo!
@HarryBeau so glad to see Lola is on the mend.
I’m going to pop into the docs surgery this morning and ask if they will make a list of volunteers ( including me) who can take shopping round to elderly or sick people who can’t get out. It seems better to be doing something positive

@DJC3 amazing score today. Thats such a lovely idea but just be careful yourself. I cant quite figure out if all Diabetics will be hit badly or if good control matters. Some of the heartbreaking posts from doctors in Italy suggested when they had to decide who to prioritise for limited ventilators over 80s and younger folk with Diabetes were excluded. I see Tom Hanks has CV but he looks like someone who manages his T2 so it so I will be watching how he gets on.
Have a great Thursday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

For those fed up with singing happy birthday or Vietnamese while they wash..
why not make you own songs up. ?

enterprising lad has a website that puts YOUR songs to the washing hands poster.
https://washyourlyrics.com/

:D
born in the USA..nice.
the boys are back in town..not so good.

surprisingly this worked well..

Love it!
I have seen him often enough on you tube so I know a few of the original words, but you have the tune in your head. Mine would be tuneless singing...
Sorry about your India holiday @jjraak
Hopefully you will make it oneday.

Good morning all. You must be beaming with that number @Muddy Cyclist congratulations. A sad and sorry 5.9 for me today but mind boggling array of learning points along the way. Enjoyed the meal last evening - roast lamb shoulder, ps broc, cavolo nero, jus, poached rhubarb (in rum?) and 10% Greek yog) - tweakage required. 2 hr test from first bite doesn't fit the pace of a good meal IMHO, leads to "bolting" food. That meal suits earlier eating over a longer time during which I may have some wine and a coffee to finish. A CGM would work better than prick and tell in those circs. Confirmed my like of shoulder versus any other cut of lamb and my love of green veg - especially the early spring ones. I needed some bulk from something like celeriac and swede mash but rejected as too high carb - probably ate too much meat as a result. Common fault with me trying to go too low carb. Willing to listen to arguments against meat eating and drinking alcohol - closed mind re veg. Timing and social aspect of meals very important IMHO. Our dining room is currently a box warehouse until wall comes out Friday? and new kitchen diner made. Meal will be repeated as a Sunday lunch when all done. Have a great day - almost 10 month granddaughter to give me joy today. Blessed or what:)

I believe @PenguinMum that because we with diabetes are very aware (at least on this thread and this site), more aware than the general population, are in a better place to get through this Coronavirus. We have researched lots of stuff to put our diabetes in a better place, and to improve out immune systems. Good control is still the key.

You have a good day.

@jjraak really sorry about your trip to India but I guess you can go when this is all over. India will always be there. You would probably not have been able to relax as much as last time with the shadow hanging over you of what if you got sick and needed specialist treatment. So factor in some LC Indian food and a Cobra or two maybe. Take good care of yourself, Lauren and Steph.

5.6 today. Happy.

2 x cancelled holidays today, son not going to Madrid. The gig he was going for has been cancelled as over 1000. Also the Real Madrid match wont have spectators. So he is gutted. Not sure he will get money for flights back. We will see. Hotel was cancelled within timescale for refund no penalties thankfully.

Me and Eric cancelled our holiday to torremolinos. Airbnb. Moved dates to September after having a few messages with host. Hoping everything under control at that point. Reason for cancelling being fear over not being able to get back home! If UK are in lockdown. I'm happier now I've made the decision.

Daughter and family due to fly to Lanzarote on 18th. Think that will be cancelled too.

The upsetting thing is reading about the struggles the medics are having dealing with this virus. They are so selfless. I'm in ore. True heroes.
Definitely a good idea to postpone your holiday to September. Hopefully everything will be back to normal by then.

Can understand why son is gutted about his trip to Madrid. Youngest daughter is concerned about their trip to LA and Disneyworld that they were so looking forward to. They fly out in a couple of weeks.

I agree the medics that are dealing with this virus are true heroes -:it is a nightmare situation when the virus cases soar.

I do agree with what you say. Have read that this virus is at least 10 times more deadly than the flu - yet some people I speak to think that it isn't even as deadly as seasonal flu. They are, unfortunately probably the same people who will spread it around because they have such a laid back attitude.

My delivery of Dettol ant-viral wipes arrived yesterday so am well prepared for an outbreak here in Norfolk. Although I will close down classes to protect clients if the cases rise here.

@PenguinMum and @DJC3 great fbgs ladies - good on you. My earlier post was too long but boils down to context of meals hugely important. Unwin articles emphasise green veg but some recipes much higher carb than quite a few here have for a whole day. His protein portions seem far too low to me. Longevity of a lifestyle is the key because even remission levels mean we are still diabetic given the wrong lifestyle. Very N=1 how we do this and approaching 5 years in lots of niggles in my journey but so far all A1cs non diabetic. I'll be absolutely hornswoggled if this gives another 5 years non D.

@Debandez sorry about the lost holidays for all of you. Having sons myself I can well understand your son’s disappointment esp over the football. I think disrupted travel is going to snowball over the next couple of weeks. Keep you and yours safe, thats all that matters.

Fbg 6.9

I met a friend yesterday. We met in McDonald's.

I was prepared as I have been the last few weeks. Before we sat down, I wiped the chairs and table down with antibacterial wipes. The worker in McDonald's was cleaning surfaces so half heartedly she would be spreading anything...She just dabbed a couple of places on the touch ordering screens with her cloth. Absolutely useless. She glared at me.

There was not one customer in McDonald's. My friend and I were the only ones. It is normally packed with customers sitting down, and take aways. The drive-in, however, did have a long queue of cars.

I gave my friend her birthday presents and card (which I had printed). Her birthday present was was some bandanas (which she had asked for), a couple of hand gel sanitisers (she had said she couldn't find any, but I found a couple of larger containers yesterday of which a whole pile had just that moment come into the shop and there were no restrictions but every customer just took two bottles and I decanted them into easy to carry bottles), then a large packet of antibacterial wipes for her, as well as a small packet of tissues. She had no idea of the routine I have been doing these last two weeks, with wiping any public surface, with antibacterial wipes, I sit down at. I also explained my routine when I use any public toilet. She hadn't thought about all the surfaces that could be infected, as well as lift buttons etc etc.

We went round the shops, some of which were completely empty. It is so much easier driving my mobility scooter round an empty shop. I still had a few more things I needed.

Then we went for a coffee somewhere else. And she was getting the hang of it by now. By using the sanitiser each time we entered and left a shop, because she was picking up stuff in the shop and putting it down the way she usually does when she is browsing. I don't, I just look and only touch when I am buying something and I have my gloves on. And she did the table and chairs with the wipes before we sat down. She went to get the coffee, but carried it back on a tray. I asked her how many people had touched and used that tray (I've never seen those trays wiped between use), so out came her hand sanitiser again...

I also always wear gloves out of the house, and wash them each time I come home.

There were some people a few tables away in this second place who stared at us for using antibacterial wipes and hand sanitiser.

While we were in the ladies toilet we saw a woman come out of the toilet cubicle and she never washed her hands, so her dirty hands were on the toilet door, then on the door handle to get out of the toilet. My friend had been touching handles before that without realising other people were really not hygienic. I use elbow to turn tap handles on etc. But toilet door was inwards one so you needed to grasp the handle...out came tissues again to open the door, but where do you put the tissue, yes I want to bin it, but where? I don't want to put it in my pocket...

I needed that time out of the bungalow today because Monday is still affecting me very badly with that weird Amazon delivery guy scaring me. Psychologically I felt so much better yesterday when I got back home, after being out a few hours. I needed to go out and distance myself from my bungalow. I won't be taking the parcels from any more Amazon delivery guys, they can leave them outside in the safe place. In fact I won't be answering the door to anyone I don't know, whether they have a parcel or not.

But while I was in the cafe with my friend, I looked on my phone to see where the amazon parcel was that was coming yesterday. The delivery person was one stop away. So I showed my friend (she doesn't do internet or amazon and I end up ordering stuff for her), and she was amazed you could see that!!! Anyway, we watched the dot reach my house from round the corner, and you could see it move up my driveway from the road where he had initially stopped with his vehicle. But the dot stayed at my front door. Which was a little strange seeing as it should have been just a letterbox delivery. 5 minutes later the dot is still at my front door. I am literally 40 miles away. So all I can do is watch.

At this point I am wishing I had a spy cam on my property. My friend asks is it the same weird delivery guy. I haven't a clue, but this is unnerving me. 10 minutes later the red dot is still at my front door. Then finally the message comes through that the item has been posted through my letterbox. My friend tells me to be careful when I get home. So when I get home, I am checking apprehensively. The packet was on the table just underneath the letterbox (I have a table there to catch the mail, because I can't bend down to the floor to pick up stuff), but my postman mail was on the floor in front of the table. Unusual, because even when another person puts stuff through the letter box, junk mail for example, it lands on top of the postman mail. So, I cannot help but wonder if the Amazon delivery person was trying to reach through the letterbox, and I am only wondering that, because the info on the delivery map showed the delivery guy at my front door for at least 10 minutes. Normally the Amazon delivery person is on and off my property in less than a minute, and then he goes off my screen once the item has been delivered.

I ordered an item for my friend last night and it is coming this morning. I am apprehensive. It is too big for letterbox, so this means it will have to be left in my safe place. I am not answering.

This will be the last Amazon order for awhile, I am not ordering anything more from them for the moment, or they will have to go to my local collection point, but quite a few items cannot be delivered to my collection point. They have to come to my address.

I have go out to sort out my prescription meds today. And I have thought of a couple more bits of shopping I can do while I am out.

You all have a good day, the best you can.
Take care.
