What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

We could go, bending the rules as "no UK citizen should be prevented from travelling to the UK, but restrictions must be obeyed on return to France "
However this does not take into account the "Essential travel only" part of the French restrictions. And a family party, 24 people, 8-10 households, currently hovering uncertainty between go ahead or not, definitely does not qualify as essential. Not even with the added inducement of several purchases of winter clothing waiting to be collected.
Today 21.12 there is still the chance of government intervention, curtailing the numbers or forcing complete cancellation.
My brother( organising) is insisting on tests for all and suggests bringing blankets as all the doors and windows will be open. He is insisting on everyone obeying current advice.

There is nothing there to entice me to join such a large mixed gathering, and freezing to death to boot @SlimLizzy

Staying well is the priority here.

Hugs for you x

I have just got back from my pre-dawn raid on the food shops for fresh food for Xmas.

I could only get some of what I needed - empty shelves - and NO fresh double cream for my coffee treats :(

I don't ask for much but I would like my fresh double cream for my coffee...

But I did find some clotted cream, so I got it. How does that work in coffee?

I like my double cream to sit on top of my black coffee, not mixed in with it...

Good morning everyone on a cold an unsunny morning here in the dark and dangerous north
The wonder wheel of steak with salad and speciality dressing came in at 5.2 this am

“Let’s go and see the sea” was the order of the day yesterday - down through the woods, follow the river down to the sea. Tide in, throw pebbles, re-enactment of Cnut then a bag of chips shared and ice cream in town on the way home. My prolapsed disc prevented me joining in but the photo’s were good and the “guess what we did” tales were exciting. Hope that digging of the garden path goes without incident @dogslife and that all is sorted quickly for you both. ‘To convey one’s mood in seventeen syllables is very diffic.’ (Dr John Cooper Clarke).

Another Christmas themed picture today, we are on an advent countdown fest. Stay well, time for more koffy.

Hug for that. How about going wild for Christmas and having liquer coffee which should be fine with clotted cream. Sorry about the empty shelves but as I said earlier I think people were buying up early so if they test positive they have festive food. Understandable from their point of view but hard on people like yourself.

Morning all. St Thomas Day in C of E. Celebrated July 3rd for 2 other denominations. Interesting English customs - see attached - eerily contemporary and probably soon to be revived. My fbg was 5.4 @ 6.12 on Swipey - accounting for the device used and provisional nature of just what is a protective fbg, hardly reassuring. @Krystyna23040 I have PMd you. Enjoy the shopping. Sunday seemed to be the day the good people of Newmarket were ensuring if they had to isolate or supplies ran low - we cancelled one home delivery for that reason- they could "do Christmas" We only went to get dog food but ended up doing much of ours. Except, of course, for the collection from W on Christmas eve - rude not to. Also collecting our Turkey at the "farm gate" from Godwick, Kings Lynn on Thursday. Vaguely in your neck of the woods but minus HRH collecting hers this year. @gennepher wonderful cards - don't overdo it. I've been up two hours discussing whether to have more tea - I need more data but I'll review it hour by hour.:angelic:
Thanks @ianpspurs
I am having a cuppa tea, warming myself up under my electric blanket...

Just googling how to make liqueur coffee @ianpspurs
I do love it, but only had it in the pub before...

Good luck. I'd ignore the carbs in sugar just now - leave them in then bottom of the glass/mug:angelic:. We were gifted a set of glasses with markings on the side for making Irish coffee. Seemed a little stingy for the whisky to me so I changed the recipe a tad.

Haven't seen any of my children or my parents/siblings/grandchildren for six months exactly today. It gets hard.

Good afternoon all and sundry, strange old word sun dry.

6.5 this morning.

We, Mrs J and me and me’s are supervised by the grandchildren today, pre Christmas bbq being consumed as this is being mispelt, the poor grammer is thrown in for free, no charge or emf either. The pre Christmas bbq is a tradition for the children, not sure the neighbours care…
Sad news I had to send Mrs J’s kango hammer back yesterday, how she found out about her Christmas present I know knot. After the children go home, me and me’s will be scouring the machine, tool fix catalogue for more ideas.
Stay safe all, avoid the media.

I know it's hard @SlimLizzy

I haven't seen my children or grandchildren since before first lockdown. Usually we rent a very large cottage. Daughter's family and my grandchildren from Oz comes over, for a fortnight once a yearish. Might be summer, might be Christmas. Also it's open house for all their old uni friends as well. It's always a madhouse crazy time. Daughter's family (with my grandchildren) in England are in the middle of having caught Covid for the second time since March 2020. Son, down south, has not been well, but insists he has not had Covid.

It would be foolish to try and arrange anything, even just for a glimpse of them. Everyone is alive at the moment, and if something happens to any one of us, then that is just the way the cookie crumbles. It sounds hard, but that is life in current times.

It will all change oneday. What happens then, who knows.

Good morning,

Another restless night, woke up anxious so fbg was 5.7 this early morning!

Hoping for cooler weather today
Hug for the restless night. Fedex do next day Aus to UK so send some heat here. I'm bored of wearing 43 togs worth of clothing. :angelic:

I definitely think that you have made the right decision @SlimLizzy. It is too risky to 'bend the rules ' as France could very easily decide not to let you back into France.
