What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.9 this morning. Last night it was very misty and I got myself super stressed at the thought of the detour through narrow country lanes around the A47 overnight road closure which has happened every night for the last 2 weeks. Got even more stressed as I passed the Road Closure Ahead sign.

What joy when I reached the road works and they had only closed one lane - not the whole road. My prayers were answered - I was so relieved. I do hope that they will do the same tonight.

Thank you @gennepher. I suppose I could also have some Greeks yoghurt and add a spoon of oat fibre and a few berries. That seems to work as well, especially if I dribble in a bit of double cream.

Good morning everyone
BG @ 7.15am was 6.8mmol
First time since regular BG testing I’ve been in 6s in first test of the day in morning.
Breakfast still 100g of Greek yogurt and berries yesterdays BG was a lot higher 9mmol
Horrible Raining weather here in North West this morning.K

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those with webbed feet in this weather.

Blood sugars this morning were 5.1 oh hum, I might have to tweak my insulin dosage in the evening, me, me’s and myself will see. I would like to be about 5.5, but as stated in other posts so many factors to feed into the equation.

FBG 10.5. That was the latest of 3 readings through the night and the one I decided to go for.

I experimented this morning because I was beginning to think that my BG didn't spike after my h/m wholemeal bread. I had 2 thin slices from the loaf (small loaf) for my breakfast. Ah well - nothing magic about my wholemeal bread. BG before breakfast - 14.0. Insulin at 9am. Ate at 9.30. Dropped 11/4 hours later to 9.6. Climbed another hour later to 13.2. Now 14.7. Wonder if that is it levelled off now. Hungry though. I might have a slice or so of ham before I go out.

I wonder what would happen if you froze your h/m bread in slices and then re-heated it by making toast?

Yes, I wondered about that. I've tried frozen potato and it seems to reduce the spiking effect, but I didn't know if it was something special about potato or if it would work with any carb. That's the next experiment, I guess.

Good news that only one lane was closed. Hopefully the same will happen tonight.

Just home from the hospital appointment - we came out at about 4pm and it was already dark - very strange, but then it has been overcast and dim all day.
 
Doctor at the hospital says I should stop taking codeine - bad for my liver, which is already struggling. He says there's a patch that would do the same job, but without the codeine. I wonder what will be in that. Apparently, the endoscopy is to check if gullet and stomach have been damaged by poorly performing liver - didn't know about that. More tests to come - blood and US. The nurse who checked me in at the hospital told me that her heart sank when she saw my name on the list because she thought she would have to try to get blood from me. She only had to check weight :arghh: and blood pressure - higher than they would like, but then, I deliberately didn't take diuretics today in case blood letting was going to be needed..

Unfortunately it was properly closed tonight so I had to detour through the winding county roads. By mistake I managed to end up on a single track road but luckily was able to turn around in an entrance to a farm and get back onto the correct road.
 
BG at 1.30 am 6.5 but I had to take pills and for that I have to have a couple of teaspoons of yoghurt to help to swallow them, then a cup of tea, so now it's up to 9.7. If I go back to bed (which I might) will my next reading be my FBG - probably up rather than down - or will I stick with the 6.5, I wonder.

The doctor (just out of school by the looks of him) I saw yesterday thinks my breathing problems are mainly caused by my big, fat belly pressing on my diaphragm, giving my lungs less space to operate. He could very well be right but how to lose any of the weight - that's the question. 3 small meals a day - that's his answer. He reckons that will also help my liver, which has been a major issue for years now. I don't see how cutting out a meal or two damages my liver, but he could be right. What do I know? It won't be easy to fit 3 meals in, and what is small anyway, I wonder.
