Having found my pyjamas uncomfortably tight and Jeans don't actually meet at the zip have restarted LC. Ater three days have "lost" a kilo.
We probably wont go to UK.
First Christmas without Dad was always going to be difficult. My youngest brother has left his wife of twenty plus years under salacious circumstances, causing a rift in the family. There is the unresolved situation with MrSlims aunt as well. It might be cowardly but I don't want Christmas to be a time of conflict.
Kiki gives us a reason to stay here. I do genuinely believe her current behaviours would be dangerous for my mother. Although I am still investigating catteries etc. Am actually hoping they are all full.
Apologies for lack of engagement with everyone. The black dog has clamped his teeth in and refuses to let go.
I don't think that you are being cowardly @SlimLizzy. If faced with the same situation I would be feeling exactly the same and would be hoping that all the catteries were full.

That was absolutely brilliant @Lainie71
You are amazing.

I did Aikido years ago, and we were taught a particular self defence move. Very effortless and simple. I didn't know if I could still do it, so just tested it out to see if I still remembered, on a doll that was lying around here.she now has a broken arm...I remembered....

Hugs for you
I knew a guy who did Akido, he wanted to practice on me, he told me to leave my arm loose. He was going to grab my arm, to pull it backwards over his shoulder!

Only he got a shock, I stiffen my arm and twisted his arm and he finished up on the floor with his arm up his back yelling stop stop you will break my arm.
He was rather stupid taking on someone who stood 1.96. When he was very slightly built.

I know what he felt like, I accidently came face to face with John Denver's bouncer at Newcastle Theatre when I went through the wrong door.
He was over 7 feet tall and built like brick ****house.
D.

hug for the hectic schedule, winner for the fbg but the hint of what the rude word may be is useless without either the word or pictures. Thanks for asking about post drip. I feel no reaction but Fitbit does show some impact - resting hr soared from 57 to 58 and stress management measured something too low for the Richter scale, a murmur? Some people leave with armfuls of pills for the effects so up to now I've done well. My plan for today is to persuade the Food Fairy to have a crack at this
Good that you are doing so well post drip. Especially good that you don't have to take armfuls of pills to counteract side effects - especially as you would also highly likely to have side effects from these pills.
The only clue that I am giving to the rude word is that it was part of the body.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and all those climbed trees in their youth and still wished they could now.

Blood sugars this morning were 4.4, I know what I have planned for today, therefore this reading is causing a little consternation, sliderule, tea bags etc, etc. Dosage arrived at and a slightly higher carb breakfast consumed. Never mind onwards and upwards.
.
I shall be unsupervised this morning while Mrs J goes to pick up 2 trays of farm fresh eggs then meets with a few friends doing a “ ladies what natter “ in a local koffy shop, while me, me’s and myself ponder construction techniques for stiffening a gate support post, repositioning a neighbours set of lights and generally making banging and screwing noises. Think yourselves lucky you don’t live next door to me, woodworking machinery and a motorcycle.
.
Stay safe all and now I must make Mrs J’s tea.
Hi Alf
You have a good productive day!
I am sure your noises and efforts wouldn't disturb me @alf_Josiah
I can live with normal noises, just not the Duracell Bunny's, the Fort Knox fence neighbour of next door whose batteries never run out...

Big fall off the wagon again after three "good" days. Suppose it's to be expected after months of eating without much thought.
Wet morning now I have no exuse for not tackling, once again, the dreaded curtains. It is always more difficult to alter them than to make new. There is one enormous curtain 140x90 curtain which MrSlim says wants turning into a pair. It is also too short. So I am currently working on lengthening it. Of course the lining will then be too short and need some additional fabric as well.
That's one part of the task.
The other part is to lengthen the "pair" i have already adapted for the arched window. They are slightly different sizes so not exactly a pair. We were given a 2 metre length of fabric, a fortunate find, as it's a discontinued design. The trick will be to stretch it sufficiently to lengthen all of them. There is no possibility of matching the pattern. We only need about eight inches more o them, but there is a lot of width to cover. It's going to be very tight. Have tackled this intermittently, alternating with putting it off for nearly a year. Although each attempt does get a little further towards curtains in all the four places they are needed.
FBG not that bad really but altering curtains needs championship knowledge of tessellation and the works of MC Escher. Wonder if some contrasting fabric can be added to the bottom to lengthen - don’t ask me, I can’t even work the treadle on a sewing machine.

I wonder where this corridor leads...somewhere wonderful @dunelm

I will have Christmas over and done with by 1st December. I just need to make my Xmas cards and post by then...I need a whole month off Christmas and just about everything (for a large project I have...)...you enjoy your gift exchanging and lead up to Christmas...have a lovely day...
I hope that postal strikes do not hamper the timely delivery of your cards

Morning everyone on what may be Advent Sunday 2022, just another Sunday or a day when life has changed profoundly for ever as this story https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-63770727 and the recent deaths of the mother and two children in Nottingham show to share just a couple of events. Even the strongest and bravest of us eventually have to admit defeat https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/63688926. It is wet and dark here so what price the hope this link holds? https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/blog/ @gennepher 's solution to the Christmas light extravaganza or @Lainie71's defeat of the Goliath like Bailiff or the anticipation of @dunelm's slow reveal of his next wonderful art or our Berkshire legend entertaining us with his quirky take on life the universe and prime numbers. Here, MIL will be made welcome, try the stairlift installed on Tuesday, a little tipple, Sunday lunch, film and all the love we can muster. For me the Deep Fake LC Advent with none of the sweet tastes of Yore- Dr Almond Christmas cookies and P's LC hot chocolate aside - simply doesn't offer the promise of ultimate rapture, just a sour, unsatisfying taste. So a couple of dips into the Heroes/Celebration tub and my annual slice of Pannetone - Swipey consistently showed return to normal after 2 hrs - it will be. I may even sip a PX sherry.. Pearl Clutchers, grab your brown paper bags after that. Enjoy your day and sorry if you feel reading that was time you'll never get back.

That is a beautiful post @ianpspurs

Many years ago when I was bringing up the kids I very rarely answered the door without staking the premises out! This particular day I was hassled by a big bloke (bailiff) threatening me for debts my ex husband had. I just happened to have cricket bat by the door and proceeded to pick it up. I informed him that I do Thai chi and I if speeded up I could and would land him on his backside and I would not need to use the cricket bat! I also informed him that he would need extensive dental procedures after the said event. I have never seen a person move so quick! He never came back. Hell have no fury like a women's corns lol
7 this morning urghh :banghead:
Brilliant. We have another Wonder Woman on this thread.

Smashing post and I hope the stairlift is a great success. Enjoy your Sunday

I must admit I was a little more fiesty back then and have mellowed more since. I would not hesitate to use my combat skills though in the given situation again lol Poor doll - I had the same experience testing my hair dressing skills as a child on many doll heads that had hair painted and chopped scalps!

Almost forgot to post fbg which was 5.5 this morning. Last night I was so tired. We watched Yorkshire Vet which we like even though it is a bit gory. Then I snuggled down on the sofa, under my cosy throw, to watch Grand Designs and woke up just in time to see the credits scrolling down the screen.

That's what I use TV for these days - to help me drift off to sleep.

I've given in! The heating is back on - I've turned the thermostat up to 16C. I realised I would have to when I looked at the kitchen ceiling above the sinks/under the window and saw the amount of black mould growing there. I also realised that leather goods in my bedroom cupboards were growing a film of mould over them and Neil says he has mould growing on things in his rooms. I'm not too worried about the leather goods - they'll clean up but I am worried about Neil's chest. So the heat is on low and I'll just have to bite the bullet and order some oil. Neil has spent an hour with bleach cleaning the mould off the bit above the sinks (7ft by 3ft rectangle) plus a few spots across the ceiling that I hadn't noticed.

I hope I've put the thermostat up enough but, if it stays cold, I'll have to go up to 19C. The thermostat is in the hall so, by the time it turns off the rest of the house is probably about 18 or 19.

BG this morning at 6.30 was 9.1.

Time spent reading your posts is never wasted, Ian. What better to do with time than spend it reading interesting or uplifting words and communicating with friends?

Good morning everyone from a pleasantly quiet start here in the dark and dangerous north. The last of my current course of Doxycycline has been consumed (with some prebiotics) and I am enjoying the quietness of it all. TV hasn’t been used much for terrestrial viewing lately - far too much squawking and thank goodness for catch up where even the 6 o’clock news can be all over and done with in les than 5 minutes. I note that some folk have now just about completed their Christmas shopping - we have not started, far too early - it’s a posh Sunday lunch, the exchange of a few well thought out gifts, The King’s Speech (will he be played by Colin Firth?) and Bridge On The River Kwai - stop going mad. Art bit - a corridor to wander down perhaps. Have the best day that you can, cars are very good on fuel when parked on your drive. Must get some koffy.

Thank you for that. I'm often unsure about whether to post some things. As for the heating it is a sad indictment of what we have become as a set of nations, this isn't any kind of United Kingdom, that pensioners have to fret over keeping warm. There are other choices which would free up money to support people. This is not an act of God or natural disaster it is shabby political choice. There, I feel better for that.
Edit: Hard to disagree with this for me anyhow: https://www.theguardian.com/comment...verty-lowest-paid-freezing-government-support
