What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Very distressing @gennepher .

I'd like to think it's just a t@ wt chancing his luck.

And he's been suitably earned by you.

But likely a lot easier, sat here to be so relaxed about it.

Hope you can begin to ease down from high alert status.
I hope I gave him more than a flea in his ear @jjraak
I will be on high alert for awhile yet.

There have been quite a few instances reported on the neighbourhood online site saying of callers with malicious intent. I do read them to know what the latest scams are. One appears to be one person, a man, with a parcel, the occupier answers the door to say they are not expecting a parcel. But then a group of (hidden) men push in etc etc

Which is why I am careful to know the timing of parcels and my special delivery before 1pm letters. I am expecting one of those today, so I am sitting by the front window.

Thank you.

No harm in a game being a reason for people to discuss and enjoy. Not that I would. But if it makes people happy - fair enough. I just feel it being imposed on me (football or some other sport) throughout the year as though it was the most important thing in the world. It really isn't while there is war, injustice, famine, danger to be faced.

Having found my pyjamas uncomfortably tight and Jeans don't actually meet at the zip have restarted LC. Ater three days have "lost" a kilo.
We probably wont go to UK.
First Christmas without Dad was always going to be difficult. My youngest brother has left his wife of twenty plus years under salacious circumstances, causing a rift in the family. There is the unresolved situation with MrSlims aunt as well. It might be cowardly but I don't want Christmas to be a time of conflict.
Kiki gives us a reason to stay here. I do genuinely believe her current behaviours would be dangerous for my mother. Although I am still investigating catteries etc. Am actually hoping they are all full.
Apologies for lack of engagement with everyone. The black dog has clamped his teeth in and refuses to let go.
Not a good situation at all and it’s OK to say if you don’t feel OK. Jeans thing can be easily sorted by putting the button on an elastic loop but as for the rest - well significant events on the calendar will amplify things. I have danced with the black dog for a long time and wear a black dog pin to remind myself that I am a work in progress. All the best.

Morning

A pleasing 6.2 this morning .

Overlooking McGarrett Plains, if not actually on it...so happy with that.

Designated Uber for Lauren & bff, as they go to get a non medical, medical procedure... for vanity reasons .
(Ladies might know of which I talk)

Then the ladies become ladies that do lunch, which is nice.

I will excuse myself, so they can chitter chatter without some non comprehending male raising his eyebrows (because I'm the only one able..;) ) & rolling his eyes at the perceived importance of the snippets of gossip that draw gasps and "Oh no ..really "..

A day to myself then beckons, tinkering with the new (to me ) Ebike.

May have mentioned, but liking the new lease of life, cycling is now getting from me.

Anyway, got to put my chauffeurs cap back on, mechanic has informed me, ladies are being taken down from the ramps, buffed & polished, with new MOTS issued.

Hope I can spot which ones mine...:bag:

Good morning (just) everyone from a busy busy start here in the dark and dangerous north. I think that I have caught up but you never know when lists of potential chores are handed over with encouraging words in the form of spells. Still, after Mrs Miggins reported that the high power was no longer working on the cyclonic vacuum cleaner, I took out the filters and washed them - job done - pretty sure I had informed her about this before. Whatever happened to those nice big expensive vacuum cleaners that double up as paint sprayer, meat mincer and bread maker. Art bit - colours added so on with something else. Hope everyone has as good a day as they can. I must have another koffy before the noon gun.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen, but not cowboy builders and chancers trying to fleece older folks.

Blood sugars yesterday were 5.1 and this morning were 5.1 again.

Yesterday we had 2 of our grandchildren for the day, Mrs J was in her element, 3 children to look after, 2 grandchildren and of course me, me’s and myself. The toy plastic spiders were much in play, also the plinky plonky keyboard got used heavily.

Black Friday, gave up on that con trick years ago.
.
Foot the ball, not interested, Wales or England, but I do like the some of the humour that it is being generated , here is an example # FIFA have banned todays games, rain is forecast and their is a chance of a rainbow #
.
Here in Tilehurst Towers the day is an unknown, lots to do, but no enthusiasm, perhaps me, me’s and myself should drink safety koffy and then re evaluate.
.
@ianpspurs I hope the drip session went well and good news on 4x4.
@gennepher, idea reposition 1 of your cameras to monitor your entrance and possibly ask your neighbour about his workman.
Stay safe all and hugs where required. Now koffy is a must.
Edit
@Krystyna23040 just read your post gave you a funny for the predicted text, but wanted to give you hug for your full on day. Ask the diary keeper to look for other employment, oh silly me that’s you isn’t it.
Thanks for the ideas @alf_Josiah

I did that awhile ago. Positioned it outside in strategic place. It got stolen.
I cannot screw mine into something. It doesn’t have that facility. It just has a strap to fix it to a tree. And it also has to be at a height I can access the SD card.
I ordered another one, but that is coming today. This one will be indoors. Inside the kitchen window, by the door. But I do need to get it at the correct height, because it is a very confined approach at that point by the door and doorbell.

I think I will take one of the two wildlife ones and put that one pointing from the other kitchen window down the driveway. To cover all bases possible...

That was why I went out almost immediately after that scoundrel yesterday, to see whose bungalow he had come from if he was telling the truth. But everyone was out in their cars, or out at work. No one a good few bungalows either way or over the road either way was in.

He was a chancer...

Much too beautiful to be the lair of a spider monster. Especially with the moon overseeing everything. Or is that the man in the moon keeping watch?

Fbg 6.5

Yesterday, the doorbell went. I never answer the doorbell unless I am expecting someone/parcel/etc. But I was expecting something within that time frame. So I answered it.

I don't have the doorbell on the front door, it kept going missing, so, you have to be in the know to realise my doorbell is through my gates, in the side passage on my kitchen door which cannot be seen from the street. But no one was standing there. There is a frosted glass door. So, I opened it, and this guy who looked like Father Christmas leapt in view (not a good sign, but my front garden gardening tools are besides me). It was just his long white hair and long white beard that looked incongruous. He wore white paint spattered navy dungarees (the dungarees themselves looked too smart and new, and the white paint spattering looked like he'd had the dungarees on the ground and dripped blobs of white paint on them.

I'm just working for a neighbour, he said, and I noticed your roof needs work on it. No thank you I said, and go to close the door, but he gets a bit too close (I know I can't shut it quickly enough, I hate these plastic doors, give me a solid 100 year old oak door any time), and then tells me my roof is bowing and needs some urgent work on it. Just a few planks will shore it up, and you'll be safe. NO, I say. But he gets even closer. You don't realise, your roof is in danger of collapse on top of you, you don't want that. Just a few wooden planks will sort it...

My secateurs are by my door because I had been using them an a hour earlier in my front garden. My hand involuntarily lands on them. He backs off. I don't pick them them up, but I lunge towards him. GO, I say aggressively. He backs away, not expecting this, leaves quickly. I shut the door, lock it. Get my shoes on, go out, lock the door, then go out after him, I don't have anything in my hands, but he has vanished totally.

I have a a text number to the police and reported it.

But my peace of mind was completely disturbed afterwards, because to come through that gate, it had to be with intent. And I could see he had already explored the passage, because he'd pushed through some nasturtiums...

I stayed in the front garden, kitchen door locked, clipping the vegetation with my secateurs, and half hour later my parcel arrived (I didn't want to hear my doorbell again, I would have been too jumpy to answer), I put the secateurs in my pocket, before I took the parcel from him, and what I didn't notice was he had taken a photo of me reaching for the parcel, and I saw this when I looked online afterwards, he had just taken a photo of my lower half, as proof of delivery.

So, watch out, Father Christmas may not be bringing the present you expect.

I would not have answered had I not been expecting the delivery. This is the first incident in about 10 years. Why pick on me? Why not pick on a house that didn't have shut gates?

By the way I have my regular roofer, had him for 10 plus years now, and he did a bit of work for me last year, so I knew my roof was fine.

So, I will be wary for awhile now. If someone is casing a joint, it is not immediate they come back, possibly 2 weeks later when you have dropped your guard...

On the wild life trail camera, the fox was being cautious, constantly checking for the whereabouts of that cat, Midnight, who hisses and bops this particular fox one on the nose when he gets too close. But no cat, the cat was being a living fur blanket keeping me warm that night...

Creative is a cold bleak picture of autumn/the weather (It is raining again), painted in Procreate.

Time for a cuppa again. And I need a nap...

A hug for your incident yesterday there are always chancers on the make but it can be a disturbing experience especially when he was so persistent. I get a few now and then "offering to do jobs " I always say that my husband does see to all that ( I've been divorced 17 years lol but it works .

Bit worrying and hopefully just a chancer but do check his story with neighbours. Can police do a visit to advise on security (they should do). Check front gates and walls for chalk marks - used by thieves to tell others what the game is. Alter your routines each day so he can’t establish your patterns. Move some stuff about to make it harder to gain entrance, check any security lights and cameras. Smashing picture “in the bleak mid winter” springs to mind and a bit of Raymond Briggs.
Thanks @dunelm
I appreciate your ideas.
I forgot to check the front gates and walls for chalk marks. I knew to do that from where I lived in Liverpool before. Then there is the pavement as well to check. What I did notice was a pop drink left standing inside my neighbour’s wall. I thought that was unusual....
Will go out in a few minutes and check all that.
My security lights work and activate.
I never have a routine, learnt the hard way many years ago...
I was looking in the front garden and passages yesterday afternoon, and I was thinking of doing what you suggest to make it hard to gain access. I have a few ideas for that...some forgotten ideas from my garden in Liverpool...

Thank you very much for the lovely painting compliment

Absolutely amazing art bit @dunelm.

My mind is ruminating on a possible reply @mojo37 but it won’t be a husband.......

7.3 this morning same as yesterday though the night before I had eaten a very greasy kebab with chips and that resulted in me having a very poor night's sleep . last night good sleep and low carb yesterday and still 7.3 ( shrug) . Numbers did improve this morning after breakfast and long walk down to 5.6 .

Thank you for sharing your art which has been transformed into something beyond words by the addition of colour. Hug for cleaning Mr Ds cyclone. Like Apple products I have set my face against anything of his. Did use my parents' one - chocolate fireguard springs to mind. Possibly heavily filtered through the prism of his enthusiasm for leave and alleged treatment of workers. Oddly enough, we have one of those multi-functional ones and a very nice man - who claims I used to teach him rugby - pops round to service it and the baby cordless cousin he flogged us. Baby one works way better than Mr D's pony gear. All IMHO

Hug for feeling imposed upon by sport. JKP would sympathise but she has a sport mad husband, two like minded sons and now some grandchildren. I take your point but most televised sport now is usually on subscription channels unlike strictly and those cooking programmes for which we are forced to pay a licence fee in which we are expected to show some interest. Heston B is ok but spare me from accidentally seeing Mary Berry and especially Paul Hollywood. He's a special case involving a flight to and from Cyprus.

Morning all. From the foregoing good would be a truly Trumpian alternative truth for some. Ye and Trump for 24 sounds something from the End Times. @gennepher hug for the worrying scammer and thanks for sharing your video and creative. @SlimLizzy hug for the black dog. Don't fret over lack of engagement here deal with you first and only post when you feel able. @alf_Josiah the drip session went well overseen by a Greek nurse who seemed to be doing the work of about four people. Interestingly for those not interested in sport, the football was on the TV and all the others - all male - plus nurses were watching and discussing that, other football matches and rugby.. First time anyone has spoken to other patients or shown any signs of pleasure during what for some is three hours. I usually wear ear buds and read. Most people are similarly in head down, get through this mode unless asking for/accepting the tea/coffee/ biscuits on offer. I obviously take my own provisions since I almost always go fasted.@Krystyna23040 hug for the hectic schedule, winner for the fbg but the hint of what the rude word may be is useless without either the word or pictures. Thanks for asking about post drip. I feel no reaction but Fitbit does show some impact - resting hr soared from 57 to 58 and stress management measured something too low for the Richter scale, a murmur? Some people leave with armfuls of pills for the effects so up to now I've done well. My plan for today is to persuade the Food Fairy to have a crack at this https://www.thehungryelephant.ca/2021/05/24/keto-lupin-flour-with-vital-wheat-gluten/ and something resembling the suet crust from this https://www.ketofitnessclub.com/blogs/beef/beef-stew-dumplings to go with oxtail casserole before watching rugby. In previous years I have posted links to poems and art throughout Advent. Would people mind if I did so this year? Enjoy your day and remember though Advent starts tomorrow gin. cheese, whisky, wine or any other variety of calendar must wait. until December 1st.
Thanks Ian for the wishes and compliments.
I appreciate them.
Glad your day went well yesterday.

Ianp, spurs fan. It’s good that sport got people talking in such a stressful environment. The mindless twaddle spouted by the media is not appreciated by the average viewer in my bias opinion, a few sports fans I know of turn the sound off and watch the game on the idiot box listening to the radio commentary and one or two who are season ticket holders listen to the radio commentary while watching the game in the stadium.

Now your interpretation of Advent calendars, post away, it is the reader’s choice wether to pay attention, you know my feelings, but I will fight in your corner on this one. Post away, enjoy the rugby, I shall give it a big miss, yes I know what I am missing I used to play, rugby, not rugger. For background reading try looking for the “art of coarse rugby” I’m sure it was based on a couple of teams I played for.

Thanks Alf. I have read that tome and chuckled. Enjoy your day although I suspect that goes without saying. Here's a sample of the type of poem and art I intend to post: https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/blog/

Yes Ian, I agree about some of those other programmes. If the Breakfast programme (the BBC early morning one) is nattering on about "Strictly" I turn it off with a shrug - it is a magazine programme, after all. Same if they go on about other TV competitions or programmes. Sport is, I'm sure on the dedicated channel and accessible for those who can afford it. Cooking, for the most part is on the Freeview Food Channel, but also on mainstream channels. When they appear anywhere else, I would normally turn them off. It's when they take up a major portion of the national news (and then are followed by the same or similar footage on the Scottish News that I get irritated). Quite a lot of sport has programmes dedicated to it on the mainstream channels - or so it seems to me. I'm no more keen on Ms Berry or Mr Hollywood than you are but they are easier to dodge. I wouldn't want to spoil anyone's enjpoyment, but I do think it is a bit much.
