What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from a sparkling frosty start here in the dark and dangerous north. bins out for international bin day (recycling today) - oh how pious we are at filling the thing. Mrs Miggins is busy wrapping a string of lights round the Christmas tree - it’s begun - the moving of furniture to accommodate tat. Back in the day you went out on Christmas Eve for a pint, then came back and decked the Halls - but then they moved and ruined the thing. Only one tree this year (so far and subject always to change). Anyhow, the children love it all so well worth it - do we now have all the lights plugged into a box where they can drop in a sixpence to see the Illuminati? Art bit - colour added and the wheel has turned full circle towards the next thing. Have the best day that you can, we are getting wrapped up and walking into town. Probably get the bus back but maybe not. Koffy first.

I guess, lack of organisation. I think the surgeon was a locum - probably retired and coming back to help out. Perhaps no longer able to work as quickly as a younger surgeon. Although, the actual procedure was very quick (and quite rough). Had the sedation been able to work in time, I wouldn't have really noticed it so much. In fact, I was the second last on the list but the last patient had actually been waiting since 8.30 am! She'd travelled all the way up to Stornoway from Harris - about an hour's journey - to get there in good time and then they put her last! So she actually went through about 20 or so minutes after I came out of the theatre. She didn't want sedation, so she actually left just before I did. Her husband had been hanging about all day (not a lot to do in Stornoway) waiting to make the journey back to Maaruig (a small village on a narrow, windy, precipitous road in Harris - not good in dark or difficult weather). Lack of organisation, lack of consideration? Who knows?

It sounds like it was a bit of both - lack of organisation and lack of consideration.
 
Hello everyone from a colder, almost wan but dry forested aircraft hanger in the Exotic East. Some of my joints are reminding me that if I analyse my food I should think about what those red bars for sodium mean. Plenty of tea and some NSAIDs today so IF on hold. Our Christmas tree and some decorations with family significance put in place yesterday with the help of 2 grandchildren who were very excited and helpful. This evening there is some kind of event in town to which JKP and the same two will attend if the weather is dry. @dunelm a stunning piece of artwork. Thank you very much. @Annb hug for your wait and an even bigger one for that poor husband and wife. @gennepher great story of the charity shop raffle. Thanks for the video and creative. Blue isn't a colour I readily associate with autumn so it is fascinating to see how others perceive and enjoy the world, Thank you. Advent cheese calendar to open and analyse today and the pasta flour I ordered https://lowcarbfood.co/shop/low-carb-pasta-flour/ arrives. No 1 son has returned the pasta machine but there seems to be mucho salt in the flour for me just now. Just ordered some more oil for our heating system - 96p a litre. Better than last time. I noticed that diesel, which is what our car runs on - was down to £1.64 a litre when we filled up on the way home from the hospital. That's down 30p a litre since the last tank full. All to the good. Not yet delighted - it'll need to go a lot lower before that, but it's better than it was. I didn't dare leave the dwindling oil supply until next month. Most of Christmas is paid for now, other than food, which won't be very celebratory or very expensive, so I guess I can manage the almost £500 it will cost, within my overdraft allowance.

George Herbert was not a poet I was familiar with, but having read The Glance, I shall seek out more. Thank you Ian for that early Christmas gift.

Edited to add: Just ordered a book of 100 poems by George Herbert from Amazon. Can't really afford it but I decided to buy myself a Christmas present.

The adaptations are hampered by a large pattern and insufficient fabric to get a proper match.
Floor to ceiling curtains that's a lot of work. Good luck with them.

I managed to acquire a bolt of fabric that was full for £20 earlier in the summer, it has been move around countless times ready for the inevitable sewing project! I put my sewing machines away and within a couple of days they are back out, its a pointless exercise and hubby says I should just admit defeat and leave them out! Good luck with the pinch pleats, sewing is definitely a learning curve in so many ways!
