Nighttime Wildlife video.
Merlin gets to sleep on the cat swing , all night, from dusk until dawn. And everyone gets to share the food..

Creative is a kaleidoscope with Laboscope App of my pink Fuchsia flowers. They look like little ballerinas to me!

Too hot last night despite the thunderstorms.Had to take extra asthma blue inhaler. My left leg was about to play up again, but I got out of bed quickly and walked. It felt like my sciatica was beginning to play up. I googled. Apparently hot weather and a change in atmospheric pressure can make it worse...It is still giving me grief but it is not a full raging pain like the night before...

The wood pigeon, Mr Heffalump, is waiting for his peanuts...

Have your best day...

good morning everyone from an all things bright and beautiful start down in the Chilterns. Staying over to see a pal as Mrs Miggins has decided to re-decorate our bedroom so I kindly and very helpfully got out of the way. Also, no matter the brand, the smell of some paint causes havoc with my asthma. Nearly as bad as the makeup and perfume floor in a department store or the propellant in spray deodorant. Up a bit early this morning. No notice give that I was enrolled into a crack of dawn dancing lesson for advanced cramp dance. A bit like the Salsa but with added freestyle and a bit of hip hop whilst sucking on a Carolina Reaper chilli. Art bit, started this over a week ago. Have a smashing day if you can. Factor 50 is better than butter no matter what those TV chefs may say. Wonder where the koffy is?

Ouch ..

Not only feel your pain, I shared it

Must be the weather
Last few days cramps have been regular but just annoying.

But this morning...OMG.

Felt like my bad leg was being vacuum wrapped into one of those under bed storage boxes .

A real OUCH moment.

I know you know the type, you just explained it SO well

I was wide awake & out of bed in seconds as the muscle writhed & twisted like a python crushing its prey, the very sinews taking on a life of their own.

Eased now, a salty water drink I hope helps. ..

Then off to the big A of sellers to order some magnesium spray & tablets.

Do not want too many repetitions of THAT . :wideyed: :arghh:

Enjoy your day with friends, sound like it might be a good one

Oh my goodness, a morning of pain for so many .

Sounds very nasty....hope it abates speedily .

Interesting about the pressure part, I assumed hot weather = more sweating perhaps , but hadn't considered the atmosphere...useful to know

Cheers

Even I am feeling it hot now - our temp was around 22C yesterday and feels about the same already today. I'm down to one layer! That's a rare event.

Walking's difficult today - more so than usual. Actually even standing is a bit of an issue. Perhaps it's the heat, as with others on here.

BG at 2.30 am was 6.5. At 8.30 am was 8.5. Had an early breakfast (it's floor cleaning day today) and it is now on its way down again.

Must try to get that axe out of the madman's hands.

Morning all on a sad morning for the folk of Nottingham. Thoughts and prayers with all affected. Warm again here today but no thunder yesterday and no rain forecast for days to come. Task #2 is to water that which JKP wants to preserve in what is whimsically described as the garden. Task #1 is to open up, let in what cool air there is and see to the dogs. The patio pot fruit trees seem to have plenty of potential fruit at the moment. There are also flowers and Hanging baskets but one can't have everything one's own way. Hugs for all feeling the side effects of the heat and/or change of air pressure: @gennepher @Annb @jjraak @dunelm and presumably @alf_Josiah (bg levels if nothing else) @gennepher thanks for another stunning kalaeidoscope. I can see the ballerina likeness and also a medieval satanic face in the centre. @dunelm thanks for sharing a promising start and enjoy the Chilterns - the hundreds thereof are trending just now. Calendar malfunction in the C of E. Feast of St Barnabas is June 11 but the liturgy for him is today. Enjoy/deal with or endure gracefully this weather: hydrate and remember to Slip Slap Slop Seek Slide.. Modern life is/can be goodish but the eternal verities are better.

9.40 am FBG 6.2 overslept.
Busy day in the garden planned, but as usual events overtake planning and different tasks are suddenly urgent. I need to weed the potato patch. Have been leaving it because a leveret was using it for cover, and because weeds orotect the soil from the sun and help to retain moisture, but some small brown marks on a leaf alerted me to the risk of blight... Now ripping out all the "weeds" mostly self seeded marigolds, and lettuce along with a huge amount of chickweed, which I am told is a beneficial weed, being a nitrogen fixer. Can anyone confirm this? Assorted other weeds of course, and dug up a few nice looking potatoes. Won't be buying any from shops for a while.
Lunch break over back to weeding. It's 33°c here. Too hot really but needs doing ASAP.
Hope you are all enjoying a cool drink in the shade.

You probably know all this but the video may be entertaining. Implies that chickweed is also tasty.

It is indeed tasty @ianpspurs. So are young groundsel and dandelion leaves. We also season salads with wood sorrel which has a lemony flavour. The pretty yellow flowers brighten up the appearance of a green salad. Have been informed that several other weeds in my garden are also edible but not tried them yet. Free food what's not to like about that?
Have had to come in for the 5ses. Can feel myself burning through my clothes. It's really hot but will be back out there soon, sweltering in a long sleeved shirt.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and streakers, don’t look Ethel.

Blood sugars yesterday were 4.8 and today 5.0

A thought occurred to me and perhaps those of an ecumenical nature could answer the question.
The dates of religious festivals are determined on a lunar phase, therefore could the accepted Christian religions be inherently pagan? Before anybody takes offence, gate or otherwise, this is a simple question.

Cramp, very nasty and incredibly painful, my medication causes my bouts cramp and I found having a higher salt intake cuts down the incidences.

Stay safe, stay cool and whatever.

More like the early Christians spreading the Word latched on to pagan festivals to make the changeover easier for the erstwhile pagans. That's why (for instance) Easter is a "moveable feast" because it is linked to the phases of the moon.

Hug for the bouts of cramp. To my mind if one is fixated on the precise when and not the what of Easter especially you may be somewhat missing the point. I also find it hard to see a pagan nodding in agreement to the Nicene creed but then I'm a very simple soul.

Or could it be that God created the sun, moon and seasons, appointed people to worship him at set times and the pagans followed the Jews worshipping their God's at those same times?

There has been some syncretism. But the date for Easter is determine by the Jewish lunar calender and the timing of Passover.
The first sacred month Nisan started on the nearest new moon to the spring equinox and at the Full moon Passover was celebrated.
Hence the claim that at Jesus crucifixion there was a solar eclipse is rubbish the moon was full at the time.
