What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Welcome to this little corner of this useful site.

As for your question in my not medically trained opinion you should aim for a range subject to medication etc, etc for most people anything between 5 and 7 is probably fine, I am sure others more knowledgeable than myself will add.

Thank you for your reply, my only worry is if I am at 5 DVLA say it’s hypoglycaemic , and I can’t drive which is making me try stay higher.
I think I need a chat with doc - mission impossible lol thank you though that is useful

I read the Chariot of the Gods some years ago because I met a guy who was a vociferous believer.
There was a number of 'facts' presented in his books that were not really facts at all they were laced together in a clever way the unwary to beguile.
It sold books and made him money.

This same thing occurs with the Bible based cults that annoy Alf and others so much. One in particular I know of is about power over its people.

I am unsure as to whether or not aliens are visiting our planet. I do not know as yet what I think to recent Congressional committees conclusions.

But as you say I just choose to believe. (in my case in Christianity)
D
Years ago @lindisfel after I got divorced and the kids had left home, I was searching for something.

And I came across various of these organisations and cults. One group invited me to join them for a few days break. So I went along. It was in Glastonbury. I stayed awhile. I shall call them the Bell People, they had a much fancier name. The women had children, but they weren't married to their children's fathers. It was an interesting period. I learnt a lot. They were very persuasive.

They played videos to me and music, but there was one little point they did not realise. I am profoundly deaf, and I was/am a very good lip reader, my speech is as good as most hearing people. (I didn't get my cochlear implant until my old age! But that still doesn't give me hearing of speech alone, I still need to lipread).

So, the attempts of the Bell People to brain wash me had no chance of succeeding. I had access to their vast library of books. I watched their videos on aliens and all that stuff. But I couldn't hear the music or the subliminal stuff in the sound. However, there were visual subliminals in the videos themselves. But again, I can just see those visual subliminals (which most people can't) and I knew there was trickery to convince you to join and stay with them.

(As a by the by, do any of you remember the Coca Cola subliminals at the picture houses, which got people going for refreshments in the break? It got outlawed or whatever at the end. But I could see those subliminals, yet my friend couldn't and she didn't believe me. I even bought a video with visual word subliminals in, to try and teach my friend where they were in the video, but she still couldn't see them. It was a self help video, but as I could see the subliminals, I didn't quite agree with them so binned it.)

Back to the Bell People. I did get quite immersed in their lifestyle, and I did walk around with a copper pyramid on my head, it channelled stuff from up above. And they got me to talk to an audience of people with this copper pyramid on my head. And no I didn't know they were going to do that. I got tricked into doing it. The audience believed in me...and then the Bell People took over talking, persuading people.

They made money by conning people. And the worst was, the Bell People convinced cancer patients that they could cure them, obviously for money.

But this was a massive organisation, all over the world. They promised me travel...they promised me the Earth literally. One very early morning, the place was locked up, but they didn't lock the top windows, so I planned my escape. I was literally climbing through when someone yanked my foot. I nearly died from shock. Obviously with being deaf, I couldn't hear someone coming. But it was one of the children. A boy named S. He was about 13. He wanted me to take him with me. Obviously I couldn't 'steal' a child. His mother was R, an intelligent woman, who was trying to get me to participate in a research study with her. Anyway, the boy S agreed to keep quiet while I got out of the window and high tailed it down the road. We hugged and I promised never to forget him. I still pray for him and I will never forget him.

So, what was meant to be a few days stay /holiday, turned out to be a longer 'adventure'.

By the way, I checked online, during lockdowns in 2020's (for something to do), and they were still operating, same place in Glastonbury, and still all over the world, and still promising cancer patients to part with money and they will cure them, but sadly the opposite happened. There were so many complaints about the Bell People, but the organisation is so massive...

I am wary of any groups of people. Hence my more solitary existence...

My oak tree finally has acorns!
About 20 years ago when I dug up the front lawn (I do not mow grass, ever, to plant some low shrubs (all now high shrubs and trees), I discovered several sawn massive tree trunks below ground level. They were oak trees. Then I found more sawn down oak trees on my property, all hidden below ground level. That made me sad that it appeared that the builder of this estate in the 70's had possibly cut down all these venerable oak trees just to make money. Or they could have been cut down years before, for the shipbuilding industry.

I left most of them below ground level. But 3 sawn off massive oak tree trunks, I exposed to the daylight and air. I did not think it was possible after being sawn off below ground, that they could grow again. But I like to believe the impossible. Over time some small shoots grew from all the 3 tree trunks. And over the years I found the 3 oak trees had oak galls, which is home of the oak gall wasp. This year however, there is not one oak gall on my 3 oak trees. BUT I HAVE ACORNS!!!

Creative this morning is a photograph of an acorn, still green. And what is amazing to me, is that the little fairy acorn cup looks as if it has been crocheted in fine cream wool. I have never seen an acorn in this earlier stage of development (well you wouldn't, they would normally be high up in the oak tree, unseen). I didn't know nature could crochet!

Have the best day you can.

I need to get going...

Crochet acorn cups. Beautiful. We've had oaks, grown from saplings, for about 40 years, but never an acorn to be seen - at least from ground level.

That was a terrible experience Gennepher and, sadly, has left you unwilling to trust groups of people, some of whom are not dangerous or harmful and only want the best for everyone. Understandable though.

Smashing story of your oak tree discoveries and a lovely photo to illustrate.

Good morning everyone on yet another Moist von Lipwig start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 4.6 this morning. I know, but the method is not to be encouraged. Managed to walk into town and back yesterday. First time in a while but this morning there are protests and some strike actions going on by various factions in the mind hive. Never mind, it was fun while it lasted but today is definitely a day of rest apart of course from stretching exercises and the obligatory 250 steps every hour to keep myself twinkingly active. There was a feint whisper on the wind yesterday of the words “paint” and “hallway” but I was far too busy not listening to glean anything else. Just have to see what transpires when the team captain of the Team BG sleeping team makes an appearance. Art bit, I have no idea but then I rarely do. Koffy, I need another koffy.

Good morning all from what is a bright, pleasantly warm and dry L.A. which isn't the case for all of you I know. @karen8967 good to see you posting and with such a splendid fbg. @dunelm winner for your fbg and sharing such a wonderful piece of art but hug for the after effects of #dunelmball yesterday. A tad extreme just to avoid painting the hallway. @Krystyna23040 JKP showed me an amazing photo of the high tide today at Holkham. It seems to have been up to the little wooden bridge just after the car park. @gennepher wonderful story of the revived oak and amazing image of the acorn. Well done for escaping the Bell People. @Annb I'll PM you as my post on the misuse of the pursuit of wellness by conspiracy theorists clearly landed badly. Enjoy or endure your day with Grace, Fortitude, tea and maybe keto cinnamon doughnuts. What are your neighbours called ?

Thank you @ianpspurs - bright, pleasantly warm and dry? Almost unheard of. Do you make your own keto cinnamon doughnuts - if so, what recipe do you use.

I/we buy cinnamon doughnuts from here. We have acquired several items from them which I enjoy. We now have some of their flour to try to bake some of our own things, especially bread to avoid the Sodium Propionate. Not sure what egg replacer they use though so JKP will experiment. While I'm here I'll add a new word/generation - the BookTok generation. Taken from this piece. I do like the idea of sharing the job of thinker in residence. Which days suit you best and do you also have a beard to stroke sagaciously before talking utter drivel? :D

I really love those crochet acorn cups. A miracle of nature.

I was unfortunate with that group...

A few years ago they closed the brewery when it was taken over by another brewery down country. Jennings bitter was a nice drink, it's a pity it went.
The main street which is at flood plain level had a torrent running down it a couple of times when we had the bad rains.

Marjorie walked down to meet me, she won't drive the Octavia and I walked very slowly up the hill to Lidl with her.

Derek
When I could have a pint, many long years ago, and up further north, I did enjoy the taste of Jennings bitter!

It was and is forever thus and society seems in the main to have to look after ourselves - governments - a bit of a farce really.

6.8 this morning, so it is stabilising this week.
Cold, a bit of rain overnight, but a bit cloudy and windy, the sun does threaten to come out this afternoon, so it will be working hoody on, mower out, brush out, cos of the prospect of a lot more wind and rain overnight till the Sabbath! But the weather people are forecasting that next Wednesday will be summer! But how long?
They won't go past Wednesday!

I forgot (early stages of misrememberitis, I think) last evening, her nightly pain killers! Suffice to say, I was dragged out of bed, and had to administer the dosage due!
I'm now on a verbal warning!

Footie league starts tomorrow, I might take a view if the rain isn't too bad!

Chores done, shopping done, meds done! I'm done till gardening times!

TGIF.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thank you @ianpspurs. Beard stroking - might need a licence and certificate of continence.
