Would be dinner, I suppose but I would usually call it "main meal" because it is a moveable meal - might be first meal of the day so should be breakfast but it might be in the middle of the day, so should be lunch or brunch, or it might be later, so would be dinner. I usually just refer to Breakfast and 2nd meal (and try not to have a third meal). Tea for me would be either a cup of tea and a small sandwich or "high tea" which would be cooked and in the afternoon. I'm even more confusing than the people in your article. I know what I mean though.
As far as confusion goes, to avoid just that, with first our boys and now grandchildren we seem to have settled on evening meal. Supper was what my grandfather had close to bed time and involved red Leicester cheese until my grandmother went to bed. Then it was open season on anything edible but not in the meat safe and Tolly Cobbold beer. :D

Enjoy the steak. What do people call that meal: tea, evening meal, dinner, kitchen supper - any regional dialect variations?
Well, I'm just about to give myself a telling off!
I just wrote it, not thinking that I've found labelling meal times so stupid.
For example, if your doing intermittent fast and you break the fast around mid afternoon, is it still breakfast?
I was always told that lunchtime is dinner, and evening meal is tea, and falling out the pub and having a chippy is supper.
But I'm not posh and been in an industrial environment most of my days or on nights!
Of course when you got fed as a youngster was When your dad or in my case mum got in from or before work.
Slopping out was a term often used, but not in front of my mum.
In work, cos of boxes used for midday meals and such, there was a phrase often used by some, as, nosh boxes. Or a scran, or a butty box. Knotty Ash lads obviously.
And the few Welsh lads, we worked with were incomprehensible. Things like sarnies, bread innit boyo!
I remember one lad had ram butties (ham sandwich) everyday!!!I

Go figure!

Those bolded are docky boxes in much of East Anglia. So called because the farmers would dock wages for the stoppage to eat. So one has breakfast, docky - and ...... maybe a good beef pudd'n on a stick fire.

Very depressing afternoon!
It is persistently persisting p...ing down with the wet stuff!
Not stopped at all!
Couldn't even get out for a constitutional walk.

So a quiet afternoon making some chicken curry for the weekend and batch freezing.
Steak for tea!

How can you tell I'm bored!

No, you can't be batman! No such person, a fictional character!
You can be a batman. If you were in the army.
But being such a nice guy, you can be batperson or batter, as it is in cricket now!
At last :) I can truly say plot lost, welcome to my worlds hehehe

Still having difficulties with the phone and internet. The crackling isn't so bad now, but still there and our internet has dropped to 1/20th of the speed we are paying for. One part of the problem is our telephone provider is ITalk but the line is owned by BT. Another is that our Broadband is yet another provider (Entanet - Neil chose them because they are, apparently, a more ethical company than others and they are cheaper). Another is that we don't have a mobile phone. I tried going through the ITalk websitge, but the only options offered are how to upgrade to a better service - not how to fix what we have. Eventually got through on the phone but the man at the call centre said there was nothing wrong with the line so it must be our connection in the house. He couldn't follow up because we don't have a mobile phone. So I asked Neil to talk to him because he said we would have to check things. He wouldn't talk to Neil though. But eventually I got him to do so. He asked Neil to take the front off the Master box (in a very awkward position in the bottom corner of a cupboard in the hall) so Neil said he would do it and call the man back. Of course, on calling back, a different person answered and put Neil on hold while he tried to find the original person. Neil held, but was eventually cut off. Not sure what to do now. I would just try to transfer back to BT for our phone connection but I don't suppose that will be easy when the line isn't working.

Oh dear. We'll be lost if we don't have a broadband signal.
What do you have on broadband, WiFi or ethernet?
To move your broadband you need a code and find out if your tied to a contract?

Someone in your complex arrangement has to maintain specification for you and you need to check the broadband speed at the cable head terminal going into the house in that cupboard or on your router nearby. A phone plugged into a filter on the line head should give a clean line.

Soon there will be no analogue phone lines.

But if it's not up to specification you report it to your provider and they should report it to BT for fixing.
If you have some electrical problem in the house it could be causing interference across the band.
One needs an open mind when sorting problems and no provider can work without a repair policy to the system.

Neil constantly monitors the broadband speed, which is how we know that it is falling away. Trouble is getting the provider to answer or do anything about it. That applies to the telephone and to the broadband. My telephone contract is up for renewal in the next few days, so I have to think quickly about what to do.

I think we will have analogue phones for a while yet. They are nowhere near putting in the infrastructure for anything more up to date here. I'm pretty sure it must be to do with the overhead line that provides our connection, otherwise I don't see why the weather would affect it. Not that I really understand how the whole thing works but why, when we still have a connection, would our broadband speed drop so drastically? Neil is going to try putting in a different router to see if that is the problem. When this problem started Neil bought a new phone to replace the one we had, thinking that would solve the problem, but it is getting worse even with the new one.

Also notice that e-mail is taking longer to go through (e-mail from the bank took over 24 hours to reach me today. A letter would have got here more quickly, and an e-mail to a friend arrived a day after I sent it. If I could still walk, I could have walked to her house quicker). No idea if that is anything to do with it, or a separate issue.

I give up and I'm going to bed.

I used to raid the larder at night but one day I thought I been poisoned. I would drink ginger beer out of a large bottle and this time I had a good swig when having a quick slice of cheese and the ginger beer bottle had been filled with vineger.:)

At 0630 F.B.G. 5.8

I filled an econsult in late wednesday for Marjorie to be seen by her G.P about something
potentially urgent and the G,P. rang her friday 0830 and she was seen at the surgery by 0930 so it works well sometimes.

I also got the most of my tablets at the same time but there still some outstanding.

Have your best day everyone.

In my house now (and growing up) Meal 1 is breakfast at 6am meal 2 is dinner at 12.30 and meal 3 is tea at about 6pm. These days I only have coffee for breakfast, often nothing for dinner, and something low carb for tea.
I am both northern and working class so I guess that is why I have a mid day dinner!
To keep in the spirit of this thread my fbg this morning was either 4.3 on the Libre or 6.2 on a finger prick.

I think they are just going to do with 1.5 miles of copper overhead wires up here, far enough from the fibre broadband which they will connect the copper to.. They have to put in a maintained supply for old people at remote hamlets like ours.

We will be prerequired to buy internet phones.

That may be what they do here as well. I've decided in any case, however we solve this particular problem, to switch everything back to BT. That way we only have one provider to deal with. In any case, it turns out that the BT phone charges are now less than the alternative (supposedly cheaper) that I went for a year or two back.

BG at 4 am was 10.9. Currently 9.5 and on my 3rd cup of tea.

I am hoping it isn't MG. It still could be a coincidental combination of other things. That's what I'm hoping at the moment. No point getting overly concerned when it is only something they are looking at for now.

It seems to have been this business of not being able to open my eyes under their own steam that started them thinking that way. First thing in the morning, the only way I can get my eyes open is to use my fingers and pull the lids up. Then it takes a while to get things into focus. The optometrist who was checking me out had to hold my eyelids open so that I could do the tests she wanted. Odd, but not alarming.

I used to use sticky tape to hold my eyes open doctor offered to have my eyelids sown to my eyebrows I declined.

First test anyone did was a consultant at the eye hospital he held an ice cube just above my eye to see if I could open my eye and low and behold it worked so he contacted Deriford and they said send him up.

Fbg this morning 6.4

BT have applications that test your line and it only takes a few minutes and they ring you back.
A problem across the whole band indicates a poor connection.
They are not very ethical suppliers if they do not deal with your problems like BT.

Marjorie's Mum had the same treatment with the TV rental company when she was alive. They try it on with old people and she permitted me to give them a rocket and the change was a quantum leap on what she had put up with.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentleman and those whose toes are becoming webbed.

Blood sugars this morning were 7.1

Something not to be recommend, mixing up medications ie Pravastine, a statin with Prednisolone a rather nasty, common steroid, luckily this error was spotted before the medication was taken.

Here in Tilehurst Towers we had a full and frank discussion on decorating, that is Mrs J spoke and me, me’s and myself listened, the end result we will be checking the paint stocks, sandpaper etc later today and torture is scheduled to start on Monday.

This proposed activity is a direct result of the weather and of course AI .

Stay safe, stay dry and hide the paint brushes.

Good morning from a damp but mild L.A. where flooded fields have led to some organised firework displays being cancelled. Meanwhile, if one soaks and thoroughly boils dried beans then doesn't eat 2 kgs a day lectins are fine for most people although I'm sensitive to those with IBS needing a low fodmap diet. Due to freezer room being at a premium today has become super salmon salad Saturday. Yesterday was rack of ribs Friday. Tomorrow will become goose for Martinmas due to a diary clash. @alf_Josiah well spotted with the meds clash. As for decorating, aren't you supposed to be taking it easy and isn't that what tradespeople are for? Enjoy your day - still time to update penny for the guy to crypto.

Neil tested with another router but it was the same, so it isn't the issue. We should be getting 380Mbps but are currently getting 383kbps. And it doesn't maintain the connection, so keeps dropping us out of what we are trying to work on. Oddly enough, a few weeks ago we were getting something over 3040 Mbps, Perhaps that blew something in the system.

I gave that a hug for the blood sugars and the saved by the bell mixing of meds but the rest of it deserves a holiday in somewhere warm - stay off the turps.
