What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Fbg 6.7

Cold, still very windy, and rainy here...
Last night the sky was that ominous yellow ochre colour and pink and dark clouds, it was reported in a few places here. It seems it's when it's a red sunset, and low clouds create this...

Wildlife nighttime video...
This is the now the second night with the new cushions & coverings...
Fox & Badger (badger looks up at the swing and decides he doesn't like the new arrangement) & Cats & at the end large Cat Midnight looks at camera, this new cushion arrangement is not wide enough for him...
1min

Creative...Chinese Painting done In SketchClubApp with my swirling fingers again...

Time for a cuppa.

Have a good day.

Very moody!
The sun does oftentimes resemble some dusks or sundown from my back garden across the footie pitches to the North West.

Well - that's mince pies made and cooling. Gave half of the bread pudding to Alistair to take home. The other half will stay in the freezer for visitors along with the mini Christmas puds and these mince pies when they are cooled. Just threw chicken wings and drumsticks into a pot of brine and will roast them later, also to put in the freezer for when they might be needed. Pity I didn't manage to get the freezer emptied and defrosted before this, but it will have to wait until after the new year now.

Tonight it will be pan fried trout with shredded Brussels sprouts - mustn't make too much or it will need to go into the freezer as well. Plan for Monday is duck breast - not worth getting anything bigger than that just for me. It's going to be a quiet Christmas, which is the way I like it. Hope there is something on the "box" to be worth watching. Failing that I have been given a copy of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales which I haven't read in years and I'll enjoy getting back into that. The last time I read it was hard work because it wasn't translated into modern English and I'm not sure I got the full giste, but this one is in modern English so it'll be a doddle by comparison. Not that it isn't fun working out what the different language means - Neil gave me a copy of "The Three Estates" in the Scots dialect/language, which was a lot of fun. I enjoy words! Odd because my mother loved words and word games, Neil enjoys words and etymology and so does Em. Could that be genetic?

Good morning everyone on a late start to this lovely sunny day here in the dark and dangerous north. Video killed the radio star calls from afar. First my second youngest sister and her offsprings from Fayetteville in Deliverance country. She teaches at a school for performing arts which is where my two nieces attend. Then a call from my mother from the floods of soggy Saintes in France. Dad is now reduced to walking to the Co-Op as the route to the Leclerc supermarket is still by boat or bog snorkelling only. Girl in The Bubble last night - she is now off for her Saturday dancing class, dressed up as some sparkly Disney character. The dance class are also having their Christmas party at 4pm so another outfit will be needed but that is in the hands of her parents, we are off out late morning for a spot of sun bathing. Art bit - a festive wreath to hail in light over darkness - you get a cumulative few seconds more each day now and if you save wisely it could be about 3 minutes a day by March. Unless of course a law is passed to either tax it or proclaim that it all stays the same. Eppur si muove. Enjoy your extra few seconds of light today, I shall celebrate with another koffy.

Caught up with posts with a cup of coffee.

My 'to do list' of the jobs I don't enjoy doing is completed.

Now it is only the enjoyable stuff left - going through the new training videos from my Professional Body to find interesting and effective new exercises for 2024. Also I want to browse through my text books.

We are shortly going to do a leisurely stroll around our village to look at the Christmas lights. Then we will watch Yorkshire Vet and all creatures great and small.

At a wild guess, could it simply be you're living in such a stressful environment, I doubt there's much 'relaxing' going on, even when you are relaxing @Lamont D

A slight side note, but maybe relevant .

Many on the forum boast of 5 FBG, many go even lower .

While I am admittedly more lax in my lchf diet & approach right now (too many battles, etc)

Even when I was super tight and back at sub 40 HBA1c, I found anything below 5 fbg, made me feel off, ill, like something was badly wrong with me.
A most unpleasant feeling.

I could I suppose have simply tried to maintain it at sub 5, and likely got used to the feeling.

But as a case of "we are all unique" I found or decided that for me, sub 5 was sub optimal & the circa 5 fbg was my happy place.

Perhaps, circa 6 fbg, given the stress you are under on a daily basis is yours ...?

No doctor or scientist here, just a thought.

I think @ianpspurs said something like "T2D" isn't the real or only enemy or similar.

A phrase that rang a bell.

Stressing over a number , we maybe can't reach, doesn't help us. And we might all be better served accepting being a little further from the danger zone, than if we didn't try, even if others manage to get further away than we can achieve, and accept where we land most often as being part of our natural terrain.

Just a thought .
The thought you have espoused is wise to the nth degree!
As wise as the three wise men, or even Ernie Wise.
You are completely Correct.
Not only are my ailments my enemy, then add on the stress and my anxiety, second guessing myself.

My fasting before everything happened, the breakdown, etc. Was always in the fives. So I'm trying to understand why I should not be. But I bow to your thinking and sensible reasoning, why I'm not!

I am so chuffed to have this thread and forum.
Many many thanks!

Eldest was on phone yesterday they had picked up their new car and their charger has just been completed in their garage by the electrician.
I ask how much per running mile does normal price electricity cost ?
It is not information that was forth coming.
I suspect its a lot more than diesel in my Octavia running cost.
It was a simple question but I suspect I would not have wanted to pay it and I surmise not extractable for people to get easily...then its just my suspicious mind.

Then if one buys one you wouldnt bother about 'filling the tank' in the calculation.

All of you have a great Christmas Eve and a Happy time at Christmas as you can as you give pleasure to others and animals.

Even whether you live alone or amongst a larger family with the pleasure of children around or loved ones and friends at a distahce.
God bless
Derek

Our son in law has just been given an electric car by the company he works for - a BMW saloon that reportedly does 350 miles on a charge (yeh, of course). They paid for the electric hook up work and he submits some form of monthly motor mileage claim. It will be interesting to see what the increase is on his electricity metre.

All the very best for Christmas.

Good morning everyone on what I hope will be a pleasant Christmas Eve for everyone. I have been up since 3am so not testing today and probably won’t tomorrow either, or the day after that - I will be indulging but don’t let tell anyone. Grandson, Mr Pickle, had his leg cast removed after having it on for six weeks after an ACL operation. The medics are pleased with the results but it’s crutches for another few weeks poor lad and no footy. Apart from that, if you started your advent calendar on Advent Sunday you will be rewarded tomorrow with extra things depending upon how fancy a calendar you have. Art bit - something Christmassy. Hope you all have a smashing Christmas Eve and all the very best for Christmas if I don’t make it tomorrow. Best make some more koffy now.

A beautiful Christmas card @dunelm
Have a great day!

Morning all from a perfect day for a celebration of the paradox of light in the darkest period of the year and despair at yet more human folly. @dunelm good news on Mr Pickle. Now for slow and steady rehab. Thank you for sharing the very on point art, enjoy the koffy and off Piste adventures. @lindisfel may you too enjoy a time of peace and happiness. I have no artistic skill but I can share a poem. Enjoy what some see as the great wedding feast tomorrow and for some days. We are all invited - come as you are. Some of us may be given an unexpected present. “O, you shouldn’t have!” Well of course he/she/they shouldn’t have, otherwise, it would be fulfilling an obligation for services rendered, not a gift. Thanks Rev David Clark for that. Now tea and yesterday's Spurs win await - neither of which I remotely deserved or earned either.

Good happy Christmas Eve all.

Blood sugars this Morening were 5.7

Things are moving at pace here in Tilehurst Towers, so much so that my eldest son his children and me, me’s and myself are going into town this morning as tradition here dictates to buy little gifts for the grandchildren’s mother then we have a table booked at a restaurant. This tradition started many years ago when I took the children into town on Christmas Eve to buy pocket money toys for their mother, my eldest son has continued the tradition and luckily me, me’s and myself are allowed to join in.

The grandchildren love to count how many telling offs I get from their father. More than I ever gave him, I think.

Whatever you are doing, however you are feeling, cry if you want, but every cloud does have a silver lining all you have to do is find it, then nick it.

Now is it the done thing to have a mince tart for breakfast?
