Adrian’s birthday today and he is travelling back to Ards in Ireland to sort out their woodlands project and is now the Ard’s farm manager as well though he is just going for a couple of weeks this time but will be going back later in the year on a more permanent basis.

6.4 at 03:00 today. Took painkillers and went back to sleep (in the kitchen chair) and woke again at 07:20 when BG was 7.9.

It's leg wrapping day today, so it's also weigh in day. 3 days into my carnivore experiment and I've lost almost 2 kilos. Can't be bad. I don't imagine I'll do it for long - it's a bit restrictive but that result is pretty good - and I haven't had a hypo since last week although BG has been in the low 4's some of the time.

I have many many dandelion plants in our "garden" which was simply a field with ancient cider apple trees, when we arrived. Yesterday I spent a few minutes collecting dandelion flowers from the "cultivated" half.



Anyone care to guess how many seeds are in the bucket?

At last - the great vit D ball returns

Took my last massive dose of Vitb3 few days ago. Need to go and collect more from pharmacie. The Vitd ball has reappeared here in Normandy too, but apart from one day, has been accompanied by cold winds that necessitate covering up all my goosepimples. So not getting a lot of benefit from it yet. Still the long range forecast gives us a 50% chance of warm and dry weather sometime soon. Do I believe it? Not really, but we can hope.

Made LC cheesecake during covid.
Grain free granola blitzed and blended with melted butter for the base. Whipped soft cheese, cream and a smidge of sweetener to top. Stirred in some lemon juice for flavour. Decorated with wild strawberries from the garden.

Badger prevention strategies have worked. The repair on the metal fireguard, and covering that and the bins in that passage with bird netting making it awkward/unpleasant for the badgers claws. They've left that alone. The problem yesterday was the badgers raiding my wormery again...

Thinking cap on, but it was really whatever was in the garage...I had some green plastic covered wire netting. A big roll of it. So, I rolled it round the wormery, which is a big tall dustbin with a lid. And then I pulled the top over and tied it with some rope, so I could pull it upwards and off easily to refill with garden scraps. And then replace.

That worked last night. The badgers took one look at it and didn't attempt anything. Instead, they ran around the garden and nosed around for worms.

So, problem solved last night, until the badgers have a meeting and get their thinking caps on....

Morning all on the start of April -how's tricks? A sunny and dry morning in Little America. Happy birthday Midnight and thanks for sharing the sketch @gennepher. @dunelm thanks for sharing another splendid example of your artistic gifts. You spoil us sir and Ma'am. Do have a bostin time @dunelm. Cheesecake? We have made Elsie cheesecake with a flaxseed and inulin base (no recipe just intuition) which was fine for my bg and enjoyed by all the family but time has altered my tastes for granulated sweetener so I'm not sure how that will work. A meal at #3 son's yesterday. HC Bunatonne was a triumph daahling, a triumph no butter or cream needed (far less than 1/12 for me, JKP " gently persuaded" me not to weigh mine) and even leg of lamb was fair to middling which is the best that cut will ever be so big win there. Rather like A and E here for the last few days. JKP tripped last Thursday and has grazes and bruises such that she can only use one hand. She finds sleeping difficult anyhow so the elbow grazes don't help. I had an inner thigh muscle literally pop and have a massive bruise from groin to knee so step count is minimal. Amazon are bringing all sorts of protection and support but I can still make tea, do washing and basic housework, there is plenty of food from Saturday's buffet so thanks be to God. Enjoy Monday.

My fbg is unknown so cannot be shared. @Annb hug for the need to take painkillers at such an unearthly hour and best wishes for leg bandaging to go as well as possible. @dunelm thank you for sharing the photo and art. Either an excellent example of the vogue for ironic humour or outrageous chutzpah when a native of the D and D claims the speech of residents elsewhere in the entire universe is unintelligible @SlimLizzy thanks for the good wishes. Is their a prize for guessing how many dandelions? . Fight valiantly against whatever tribulation comes your way this day. I'm not expecting to meet #45, be served cabbage casserole, bacon, tripe and onions, watch antiques road show, call the midwife, motor sport, Sci Fi or Attenborough. Due to my legendary tolerance that will be a doddle.

Had a wonderful afternoon with my lot.
A full house and plenty of noise.
Just what I needed and Mrs L nearly smiled.

But learnt that #2 has lactose intolerance as well as myself.
It seems it is hereditary!

It is definitely hereditary.
My brother and first husband's sister were both lactose intolerant as children. Of course neither of us remembered that as adults. First child fine, no problems. Second multiple intorerances. Asthma, eczema and hayfever. Still gets bouts of all three as an adult, esp after too many milk products.
My daughter ( third child) was Lactose intolerant to age 8.
Daughter married a man who has dust mite allergy. His sister has gluten intolerance.
Their children have all had or still got lactose intolerance.
The second also had gluten intolerance. She still has to be careful and carries an asthma inhaler.
Third child( don't tell her but I thought they were mad) severe milk intolerance.
And baby IV. Milk intolerance. Not so severe. Will probably grow out of it sooner than her brother did.
I dread to think what complications their future children might have if they don't pick partners carefully.

Morning from California. 4.22 on Hump Day morning. Breakfast = 2 large organic eggs omelet with red and green onions, mushrooms ‍made with cold pressed olive oil from Costco and half slice of sourdough bread. Black tea w/o cream and sugar. My routine breakfast. No reason for testing 2 hrs after meal, because it will be within non diabetic guidelines. I keep on reading and learning from the forum. My thanks to all members.

Your breakfast sounds delicious, but I would eat it for dinner.
