What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning everyone from an all things bright and beautiful start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.8 this a.m. All ready for the arrival of the Birmingham three this morning - what fun! There is a food fair on in town today - lots of closed roads. Not sure if we will go. Last year there were long queues. I think there may be some wafting through or around in order and a visit to a hopefully not too busy beach. We can take a picnic - the grandchildren are not that interested in fish and chips - or chips of any description really and much prefer fruit, sliced veg and probably an ice cream. Art bit - succumbed to adding a bit more. Hope your day is a good one. To paraphrase Musonius Rufus, when we are ill, we must take a great deal of care to bring ourselves back to health. I shall make koffy and sit in the garden.

Well it is a smashing creative and those tired brain cells rose to the occasion. Watched a programme last night and in a segment of it, an artist on the eastern seaboard of the USA was creating art for fishermen who took in something caught. The artist painted the catch with sumi-e ink and then did a sort of brass rubbing of it onto paper - Interesting. You could also look up the word Gyotaku - Japanese fish painting.
Thanks very much for the compliment @dunelm
Interesting link, just looked. Thanks. Will Google Gyotaku in a min...

The tree is glad to have company @dunelm
I agree with Rufus!

I also saw a programme a week or so ago which had a segment about those fish prints. Brilliant results from what looked like a simple process, but which was probably not so simple to do.

5.8 - snap! All the best with trying to contact the hospital.
I had a phone call from our surgery reception to have another blood test - no idea what for. I did say that I had one last week but this has been ordered as a follow-up. Last week the nurses didn't know what it was for but needed 3 different coloured phials to be used. For their sake, I hope they don't need 3 this time - it is always a problem getting blood out of me. Maybe they just didn't manage to get enough last time. I was a bit miserly, even when they did find a vein that co-operated.

BG at 03.15 today was 6.3. Took painkillers and had a cup of tea and dozed in the chair until Libre woke me at 06.00-is because BG was going high. Took basal insulin but it hasn't gone down yet. Probably it will when I take bolus dose and have breakfast.

Had an urgent call yesterday evening from Alistair. DIL has developed shingles in her feet! Apparently it looks like an acid burn but she went to A&E and they said it was shingles. Nothing they could do about that. Alistair were looking for some calamine lotion to try to calm it down. Unfortunately, I didn't have any. Eventually, after a rummage, we found some echinacea tablets which might have helped a bit, but they were out of date. I had suggested they call 111 to get some advice and when I tried phoning to offer the out-of-date tablets in case they wanted them, I got no answer from either phone. No further news yet. I would have thought that A&E would offer some sort of dressing and prescribe some anti-viral medication, but they didn't.

Thank you very much @Krystyna23040
The world is ending!!!!!!
Thanks for the creative compliment.

I have just woke for the bathroom and managed 2 hours
Sleep so far!

I fell asleep before I posted this.....wrote it about midnight!!!

Am now on 2nd trip to bathroom at 2 am and to refill my drinking water bottle. Going back to sleep again...but water bottle now empty, just drank 350 ml. I need plenty of water because of Sjögren's syndrome, even in the night.

To sleep now before I read anything.....I woke up with iPad still in my hands...right, putting it off and aside now....night night....
Really good that you are getting some sleep @gennepher.

Cold compresses a few times a day and warm water oatmeal soak may help. Ibuprofen?

Smashing reflective ink blots - don’t show it to Mr Rorschach!

Well it’s just gone 5AM and fbg is 5.8 the pain in my feet and legs subsided enough for me to get a couple of hours sleep so feeling better for that.

The scan I had in February that resulted in being admitted to hospital because of the leaking AAA stent was actually to enable them to determine a plan of action to deal with the PAD but so far have heard nothing back from them about it so I am thinking of trying to contact them over the coming week they did say to contact them if pain gets worse but so far have resisted doing so.
I have a number of appointments booked for wound dressings at the doctors for this week coming.
Last week had several blood tests done yesterday had a message from the surgery asking me to book a follow up blood test but not telling me which blood test needs a follow up should be interesting when I go last time this happened the nurse had no idea what test was required and had to guess
Anyway have bored you all enough with my trivia hope every one has a good day ta ta for now.
Good that you got a couple of hours sleep @JohnEGreen . Hope you get some effective trestment for PAD. It does seen a bit hit and miss with the blood tests. The nurse shouldn't have to guess which test you needed.

That is really wrong - they should have immediately offered anti virals.

5..6 this morning.
Mr K is getting the house ready for our Daughter's visit from from Toronto on Monday.

I am going over (no predictive text I am going over - not hungover) the video of the zoom course I did on Saturday. I think Mr K drew the short straw.

Greetings one and all from a sun kissed L.A. on Trinity plus 9. The year moves along apace but 'tis just a tad early for stirrup Sunday. @JohnEGreen good news on getting at least some sleep. Having googled PAD thoughts and prayers with you with that as well as your other issues. @Annb hug for DIL. Apparently a pharmacist may be able to prescribe anti virals for shingles but are any open on Sunday in your area? @Lamont D I hope the migraine has gone or at least subsided today. @alf_Josiah I'd avoid panache if it has that effect on you :playful: @gennepher thank you for the creative and thoughts with you during this warm spell. @Krystyna23040 I hope you and Mr K have a simply wonderful time with your daughter and grandchildren. @dunelm thank you for the link to that art and the earlier one on Stoicism: not for me, ultimately devoid of hope. Interesting though, especially the linguistic/conceptual connection to St Paul and the use of pneuma. Glosses over how Paul is very anti many Hellenic ideas and definitely headed for Rome. Thanks also for sharing the art. Enjoy your precious time with those girls. We have the rich blessing of two grandchildren this week and potentially two gatherings - one of all seven. Today's OT reading came from the Song of Solomon: family gatherings are an echo of the deeper meaning there imho. The cricket is so one sided it is boring. Have a great day if you can, especially if you are a British Olympian. Oh, many happy returns The Right Excellent Sir Garfield St Aubrun Sobers, NH, AO, OCC.

Doesn't it just effect one side of body?
I had it in one arm.
