What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I said yesterday as I lost track of time have changed it to the correct day.
The wake was held at the Saxon Mill just outside of Warwick took this photo out side not a very good one but gives an idea of the surroundings.

A beautiful setting @JohnEGreen.

Saturday's FBG 4.3 on waking at 6.00 am.

I once bought a pasty at Greggs took one mouthful then put it in the nearest bin.
That was a terrible mistake - it’s a pie you need. Pasties are fake food, without a separate lid. First brought over by the Romans, pasties spread quickly throughout Cornwall and have moved ever northwards over the years, evolving every decade or so like a virus to disguise the fact that you didn’t like it the last time you had a go with one.

Morning all from what will become a mild 27°C in L.A. for the 14th Sunday after Trinity and September 1st. Hold you 'ard with those sprouts but surely you have planned the colourway and table decor by now? - never too early to order the main protein source. Today's main aims here are to give thanks to God by celebrating Friday's anniversary with family and prove one way or another if roast chicken can be made palatable to me. I have found the poshest chicken I could: prep school, Eton and Oxford (sadly Cambridge won't allow chickens), delivered in a Rolls Royce by the family retainer. JKP likes this recipe - there will be pigs in blankets (low carb sausages, no nitrate bacon) for the children of all ages to argue over. There will be a reprise of the low carb cheesecake we first made 9 years ago - flaxseed and inulin (mixed and left overnight) with melted butter make a base like digestive biscuits, berry topping obs. Hopefully it will prove to be “an opportunity to feel something more than contemplate something, ebullience over dread,” Enjoy your own Sunday.

Good morning everyone on a bit of a damp squib of a start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. The 6.1 this a.m. was probably due to the shock of ticket prices to see a couple of drug soaked out of tune angry birds who only became famous by copying This smash hit by The Wurzels (Lyrics).
A bag to pack this morning in readiness for an 0550 train tomorrow to Manchester Airport. Then flight to Bordeaux, tram over to the railway station which, due to a lack of forethought was built right at the other side of the city from the airport. Then another train and a 20 minute walk. I’m exhausted just thinking about it.
This afternoon - over to sister in law’s who is hosting a 30th birthday bash for her youngest of three.
Art bit - ooh! Ah! A little bit more. Hope your first toe into the month of September goes well and don’t get suckered into yet another piece of nonsense designed to prize open your wallets, such as a Ninja woodfire electric outdoor oven, about as much use as the Heath Robinson portable pedestrian crossing we used only once and ended up in A&E. Koffy - must get a replacement cafetière today or all is lost

That chicken must be mouth watering going by the price although you get what you pay for, a bit like a Label Rouge chicken in France - expensive but marvellous. Lemon, garlic, butter, herbs, white wine - great way to cook a chicken.

Enjoy the 30th birthday bash. Thank you for sharing the art and the humour in your post. I hope the journey tomorrow is as hassle free as can be and the time with your parents, though tinged with sadness, will be precious.

Good grumpy, Sunday morening fellow posters and painters. Oh also Ladies and Gentlemen
I found myself arguing out loud with me, me's and myself, and in the process disturbed the sleeping dragon that is known to you as Mrs J, this was not good, and I am certain revenge will be carried out.
Unfortunately, her revenge will not involve whips and handcuffs. :-(

Ah, life here in Tilehurst Towers is dull and boring.
Have a great start to this brand new month and stay safe all.

Best of luck on the cafetière search...
Art Bit doing nicely.

The kids called the Cornish variety dino pies.
Flat pasties are a disgrace.
If I remember rightly, the tin miners only ate the filling and not the exterior pastry.
Who knows?
I tried that after diagnosis, but most of it ended up in my lap!

Had this sent to me this morning.
Ade is in there somewhere.

Wonderful picture John. Hopefully Ade will be able to point out which one he was. Must give you a feeling of having done a good job in going well beyond bringing him to confirmation. Peace be with you after a difficult week.

Flat pasties were carried in the back pocket Cornish pasties were carried in a lunch box.
The pasties my nan used to cook were crimped along the top they were so big she could only just get them in the oven and I think they were among the best things I have ever tasted.
Apart from her steak and kidney pudding with suet crust and steamed for eight hours at least.

A frightening 7.4.
#7 & #8 are paying a visit cos of footie Sunday.
I'm still got test on.
Mrs L is having a nap.
Lots of washing and cleaning to do.
Lots of food to prepare (no pasties).

Weather dry, cloudy, much cooler than yesterday. Supposed to get thunderstorms, but I hope not, the garden could do with some tho.

School hols nearly over, new uniform pics abound.

Bit of gossip,
The Gasmen have finally caught up with the neighbour who has been avoiding them. Yes, working on a Sunday morning. It is a bit of a kerfuffle, why couldn't the neighbour comply when the Gasmen wanted to. It is the third time her path has come up. They were here for nearly three months!
