What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good post national bin day Morening and pre weekend day.

Blood sugars this morning were a very acceptable 7.2

@krystyna
I’m glad you are a lot better today.

Yesterday me, me’s and myself were celebrating someone’s birfday, no not mine.
I broke all the lowish carb and diet rules. I would do it again as well.

When I started writing this posting 3 ish hours ago it was morning, but now it’s well into the afternoon. It’s also nap time, therefore I’d better post this post now or it could well become tomorrow’s post.

Happy birthday @Lamont D for tomorrow.

Posted in haste before I napppppppzzzzzzzzz
thanks @alf_Josiah , enjoy your nap.

hope your feeling better today.
are you aware that anti biotics come in a sugar free option.. That is what I have been on since last Friday.
you are so lucky to be treated so quickly.

a really good 6.1 this morning on the eve of being a septigenerian.
another visit from mental health nurse and a review of Mrs L meds is coming.
Mrs L admitted that all the bad things that Mrs L keeps thinking about. Has happened in the house we live now. And the majority of her good memory is back in her parents home, with her siblings, parents and our first couple of kids. Our marriage and other family memories.

Mrs L is supposedly having a siesta. So I've got my stupid foot up and posting.

Another round of getting a redressing appointment, had to go through 111 again. But I got one on Wednesday next. It's madness! No, not Suggs and Co.
Great band live.

It has rained here on and off. Very cloudy. But quite warm. (Except Mrs L who is freezing, Mrs L tells me!)

Have a great birthday eve of yours truly. Gammon is soaking. And I'm just wondering if I will get spoilt again?
I do not believe I will be posting tomorrow, for some reason.
How did I get this old?
Bless you all.
Have a lovely weekend, cos I intend to and so must you.
Best wishes.
Happy 70th birthday for tomorrow @Lamont D .

I had no idea that antibiotics contained sugar. Why on earth would they need sugar.

I checked the leaflet and these ones do have sugar. They also have a raft of rather awful side effects but needs must.

Good afternoon everyone. Far too many posts to like but I hope that you are all OK.
Back from the Lake District - a tad overcast but that’s due to the love relationship between high places and clouds hereabouts. No rain mind so a splendid time of it. Venue booked for our family weekend in 2026 - self catering for 39 and some walking routes sorted out.
Art bit - not much done this week but here is a paint splurge.
Happy birthday for tomorrow @Lamont D hope the day is a good one.

I was wearing my big, thick, sheepskin coat bought for me by DIL about 5 years ago and hardly worn until this year. It is long (almost down to my ankles) and big to get around me. Wearing it, I look like a big, dark blue, sheepskin barrel, with little feet sticking out at the bottom. This year, I don't care if I look ridiculous - it's warm - and, it seems, bouncy.
Your coat sounds wonderfully warm @Annb and really good that it protected from injury

Cheers mate, wish I could venture to the lakes. Some find memories of the area especially around Keswick.
The best p!ace for walking.

I found out years ago, when asking about lactose.
then a pharmacist told me to be very careful. And mentioned sugar free.
I have always been careful with anti biotics cos my daughter is allergic to quite a few of them.
most meds contain a form of sugar. One of the reasons is quicker acting into the blood.
another is taste for the little ones and the bigger little ones!!!!
and of course production process.
all cold and you meds contain sugar of one form of another, and lactose is used as a binding agent in many pills. The use of sugar is to give you a sugar high, to make you feel better for a few hours....! Doesn't do much else......!

Thanks @Krystyna23040

6.5 this morning.
Yesterday evening turned out more exciting than planned. Started getting mild symptoms of a UTI. Too late to get to the doctors so decided to go ahead with evening classes in Norwich.

At the start of the second class symptoms dramatically worsened and I apologised to the class that I could not continue with the class and would ring Mr K to take me to the drop in centre.

A class member insisted that she would take me as Dereham is a 30 minute drive from Norwich and she was worried I wouldn't get there in timr. So she drove me to the drop in centre and waited with me. Luckily I was seen quite quickly and when Mr K arrived he was able to rush me to the late night pharmacy before it closed to get the prescribed antibiotics.

Thank goodness that I got the antibiotics because l was passing a scary amount of blood. The nurse said that if I was still passing blood this afternoon I needed to go to.A&E immediately.

Thank goodness the antibiotics worked their magic and am a lot better today. Although feeling really tired the worst of the symptoms have gone.
I am glad you managed to get to all the paces in time before they shut... I see you are feeling somewhat better today @Krystyna23040

That's really interesting. A shame that they put rubbish into the pills.

I am feeling a lot better today @gennepher. I had a lovely long sleep after lunch and it has definitely helped. Have been sensible and have cancelled classes tomorrow so I can continue recuperating

Fbg 6.5

I have had problems the last few days ordering my prescription online. I have wasted hours of my time...
Logging into the Wales NHS app was a nightmare. You have to go through the NHS England app first before you are allowed to enter the North Wales NHS app. It would not let me in . I tried various ideas on different browsers tried getting in on the web but it wanted me to go to the app. In varying degrees, it wanted different things. One wanted ID, one did not, one wanted my driving license but that was only needed when you first joined so I did not do that, then I was finally directed me to a Wales app which is now defunct and does not work with my surgery. Something is badly wrong with the NHS software at the moment.

So I grabbed a paper prescription, went down to the pharmacy explained to the assistant girl there what was going on, I was not on the system so she said she'd put my paper prescription through immediately. And that was the best I could do. I'll check it on Tuesday because it should be on the system by then.

But then my adventure started.... I called in the local shop before going home, and when I came out, someone very firmly put their hand on my back. I thought that was odd so I turned round and there was an older woman than me who said she wanted to ask about my three wheel walker, I used. It has a seat on it and that's what she said she wanted to ask about because she wanted one. Well, I had to say sorry but I've had this for about 35 years now and I don't think the shop exists anymore where I bought it from. She had a modern looking 4 wheeled rollator which she said kept falling apart. We talked awhile and she kept saying that her grandson had let her down because he was supposed to have lunch with her and she didn't like eating on her own. She said this several times in the course of the conversation. As much as I like to take people on face value, I am on the alert a little in this case. Then she suddenly said would you have lunch with me? I don't like eating on my own and my grandson's let me down. I said yes, and we went to Wetherspoons. She told me to sit down and she would order the food. I wanted to pay my share and she said no so I went to the counter with her. Imagine my surprise when it came to pay the bill she pushed her sleeve up and she had the state of the art square watch which looked like it had more functions than my phone. And she just paid for the meal with that. She took the bartender by surprise as well with that watch.

Anyway, we talked through lunch. It was fish and chips and the fish was very nice. There was at least some fish between the batter! I still felt there was some discrepancies, but I didn't know exactly what. She was very well dressed, expensive and had some expensive jewellery on. But her clothes and jewellery were understated. She said she was 80 years old. She did ask some questions but I answered a bit vaguely. didn't give any personal information away. She kept talking about her grandson had let her down. Her phone went a few times and and she said it was her daughter or another time she said it was someone else, and I had a feeling someone was checking up on her periodically, and I wondered if her watch was some kind of location thing as well so that her family could keep her subtle eye on her?

But we had a pleasant time talking.

I was trying to make sure on the way back to my car, that I left her before I got to my car, but she made that very difficult. And she ended up walking back to my car with me. We talked a bit more. I couldn't tell if she was lonely or what it was. Anyway, before we parted, I gave her a massive big humongous hug. I am not a huggy person. But it seemed as though she could do with one. She was highly delighted. And she said she was moving in a few days and so we probably wouldn't see each other again. And then she just vanished, I turned around and she's gone.

I just wondered what you would make of that interaction? I was somewhere I would never have been at that time of day because of bringing the repeat paper prescription to the pharmacy.

Creative... me people watching again. Drawing on my phone in a sketch app with my finger, the person I see walking.

I was very tired when I got back and I slept on the couch for a few hours. I have missed lots of my eyedrops today because I was asleep. I was out when I did not expect to be. I will be at home tomorrow, I am not going out tomorrow. No people day... I am having a no people day.

Take care, sweet dreams...

Night night ...
