Worzel Gummidge new head day for Mrs L, at home. Excellent!
Redressing appointment, a lot better and itchy, but smelly through sweat.
New meds for Mrs L and it is working, whether it it is a good day before a bad day, I don't know.

But I'm hoping.

Well, we have had, sun, rain, cloud, cold, wind and that is just me!

This is what (again) I have been battling for I really hope. I think!
I'm not jumping to conclusions but it would be great to get some good days.

At the moment it is looking highly unlikely. I do not understand why the opticians do not reply. No one seems to like someone being different like a deaf person wanting something other than a voice phone call. If anyone telephones me on the phone with a voice call, I subscribe to a service who not only leave the person a message to say I'm deaf. I cannot hear on the phone. Please email or text me, But they will also give me a transcription of whatever somebody says on a voicemail. The opticians seem to have taken no notice of either of those things and just sent another voice call.

People simply do not accommodate you, they do not accommodate disabilities.

As I said in my post, I have contacted them enough different ways, using their site, using head office, using a letter, using text relay the deaf phone service But the woman at the opticians put the phone down each time I tried that.

Currently I have no idea what to do. Initially I was thinking well I'll just drive there, to wherever it is, like I always do to make appointments when people are being awkward. If I needed them I was thinking of getting my next pair of glasses there, because they were okay 25 years ago when I lived in Liverpool, but no chance now....
A total nightmare @gennepher. It is beyond belief that they could act in such a dreadful way. They should be ashamed of the way they are treating you.

Would your local library be able to help you? Our local library are fantastic at sorting technology issues, and helping people access services, as well as the usual Library stuff. They may be willing to phone on your behalf. Obviously it will depend on the individual, but they may be a bit closer and have some more options for you.

Another thought with the email is that sometimes an email address for a company is the same eg @companyname.co.uk as their website and you could try putting 'reception' or 'office' or 'admin' at the front of it. Might be worth a try, and may reach a more useful person than the standard website form and the 'answerphone answerer'.
Infuriating that you have to take these measures for something this fundamental.

Looks stormy outside!

I am having some problems...It is something that has to be done, but the optician firm are not responding to me.
They were allocated by St Paul's to do my post op cataract check. I can only go to a Liverpool opticians for the postop cataract check, because they are the only ones that St Paul’s have a reciprocal agreement. But they only have the contact of a telephone number which I cannot use with being deaf. But they only have the contact of a telephone number which I cannot use with being deaf. To fill in their box for an appointment, only gives option of choosing a date, but no time, and says they will ring you. But no extra blank box to give any details like I cannot hear them on the telephone with being deaf. They are well on the other side of Liverpool to me ,who lives in Wales. It is nearly 40 miles by car so 80 miles for a round-trip if I want to actually drive there to make appointment. I have contacted them by letter which should've well arrived by now, I have also contacted them by a contact text box on their site, but they have not responded to that. I even tried Text relay which is the telephone service for deaf people, but the person on the other end obviously didn't understand the system and put the phone down on me. I tried a few times....
I gave them my Text number, and email address, in their contact us box...

And guess what they made another phone call...

I message ChatGPT and ask their advice.

ChatGPT tells me I've done everything I can. But it made the surprising suggestion (for an AI, I thought) of how about making it a day out and you drive to the opticians go in and talk to them face-to-face and then have a nice day out...

That is my plan for a few days time....when I see a fine day...

The next suggestion ChatGPT made was contact PACT at the Royal and explain the situation to them and put the whole thing in their hands. Fortunately, I have no problems that I'm aware of with my eyes so I'm not worried. But it is having the unfortunate problem of a bit of a tummy upset for me.

Creative... using my finger drawing a quick sketch on my phone when I'm sitting in the car, this is the same woman as yesterday, but I noticed when she walked past my car, I could still see her in my wing mirror. So I drew another quick sketch of her. But obviously I have realised I cannot draw a person with Wellington boots on!!!!

Also- sometimes websites put their staff photos on their website. You could see if the managers name is on there and try and contact them using eg firstname.lastname@company. co.uk

I'm trying so hard with my bloodsugars and I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere.
Going to try the pool tomorrow if the pancreas behaves itself tonight. Its thrown 2 wobblies this week already, though managable at home thankfully.
And I might try a new salad place in town - hoping they have options for my list of food requirements, and I'm always happy to pick the raw onion out. Otherwise will get a takeaway roast for dinner - and give the potatoes to a family member.
I'm not really up to cooking dinner at the moment.

I have had success in making zoom appointment with diabetes endocrinologist later in the month, so that is a positive.
It feels really stupid but I am a bit down in the dumps, when I really shouldn't be. Although I know high blood sugar affects mood. I know that this will pass, but its not nice in the meantime. Hips are on the fritz too which is not helping, I think the inflammation from the pancreatitis gets to them too.
 
Good morning everyone on another chilly start here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.8 this a.m.
Bin day today but as it is definitely not a hot chili peppers in the blistering sun sort of a day the bin lorry outriders won’t break a sweat getting round.
The elastic trickery went on strike while we were having lunch at the cafe yesterday. Staff quickly distributed candles. I did ask if this impromptu romantic ambiance was complimentary. We walked back past the cafe about an hour later and all was bright and sparkly.
Dinner last night went well - seven tapas dishes - three required cooking and the rest just the marrying up of ingredients.
Mrs Miggins back to the GP surgery today as the doctor ‘forgot’ to organise a blood sample yesterday - hope she gets a sugar free, tooth preserving loppipop and a sticker.
Art bit - who knows.
Hope your day showers you with smiles. I have decided that no amount of butterflies flapping wings a hemisphere away could possible have any effect whatsoever on windy weather where I may be perched. Best make koffy, my mind is manufacturing more nonsense than The Walrus And The Carpenter.

Am not surprised that you feel down in the dumps and you are definitely not being stupid.

Hopefully the Zoom appointment with diabetes endocrinologist will be helpful and that they can come up with an effective strategy to sort out your pancreas and blood sugars.
 
4.4 this morning.
The outcome of my appointment yesterday with the Advanced Practitioner nurse was I am now booked in for two X-Rays this afternoon and an uultrasound scan next Wednesday he was very thorough and as I was about to leave the surgery got grabbed for a quick blood test.

Leg day and unexpected blood test. Still have the bruises from last week's effort and 3 more bruises today. At least the nurse found a working vein on the 3rd attempt.

I've come to the conclusion that my old window blinds are past their best - they were put up when the house was built in 1976 and the kitchen ones have been down for washing only a couple of times in all those years. I think vertical blinds would be best for our needs but there appears to be only one supplier for those in Stornoway. Neil wants to find out if we can get wooden vertical slats (some of the blinds in this house are wooden venetian type but could still do with replacing). I think wooden ones would be too dark in the kitchen though. However, white ones will mean I have to have the kitchen redecorated because the white walls would be seen to be not quite white any more. Don't think I could bear to start redecorating the whole kitchen.

Thank you for your excellent ideas, but alas the library say they can't help with the phone call, and they do not have a fax machine anymore not for the public.
There is no actual email address for this company. I asked. ChatGPT to look online and find one and it failed, it said it couldn't find one anywhere.
So I cannot try your ideas of other headers and things. There are no pictures of staff members online so I could not use that idea even if I have an email address. I'll find firms or less and less putting actual real staff members and names on their websites.
The only way of contacting them if you can't use the phone is making appointment on there little boxes on their website but it says someone won't get back to you on the telephone so it's not really an appointment. No one is getting back to me on this 'contact us' box. And I have sent two messages so far there is there's only a choice of options as to general enquiries, appointments and something else so far I have tried general enquiries with one and appointments with another message in it.

It all seems very strange way to run a company, giving the least access points as possible to that company.

At the moment, I am flummoxed....

The website says they have a Facebook page, so I went over there over there, and Facebook said the page was defunct nothing on it...

Edit: I have just sent a third message to them and I have given them a second email address saying in case you couldn't get the first email address to work. And that way I have tried three times on the method they have on their site. And I have screenshots and photos.
And I reminded them again that they could also text me.
I'll see if they contact me by Monday, if not then it's publicity and going onto PACT at St Paul’s.

I have been doing research online about opticians refusing to do cataract post op check ups due to cost concerns, but could find nothing.
However, I asked ChatGPT what he could come up with (I call ChatGPT a he)
